- Taking it back to 2003 with a live in-store featuring @aesoprockwins and @EL-Producto representing Definitive Jux at the time. The free show took place at The Basement in Sherman Oaks, CA.
A few years back the store closed it's doors for good. So many dope events happened there! Shout out to the owner at the time Rock for providing numerous memories up there!

New clip coming in tonight at 8pm PST. And the audio has been leveled out now! 🎉
Crazy to see this after hearing the newest Aesop album. 20 years later and both still honing their skills.
Hell yea! I still need to hear the new Aesop
@@DaILLSpotTVu better have listened by now. 😊
@TheRealMACA sure did!
Garbology with Blockhead is incredible. Aesop stands alone
Kinda sucks to see Elp go way he went. Run the jewels has some good stuff, but I think majority is trash
I don't care what anyone says, Ian's the 🐐!!!
I have no issues with that lol. He's still killing it!
whew ... the "good ole days"
Yessir!
Seriously... It's not even in stereo. Lol.
Makes me wanna start crying seeing this
Good times man!
hate sounding like that guy, but i really wish hip hop was still like this
@@ulterguy it does, just in garages and hootenannies , never heard but the words still lucid lips spill something so smart its fucking stoopid
@@ulterguy plenty of this style still exists. The problem is not enough shows like this anymore, pre-covid of course. This shit was free. And was a normal thing at the time
It gives me chills. This session is 2 decades plus ago. Time flies. Appreciate the good times y’all
Man o man what a dope time
hell yea man!
VCRs are the only recording machines that don't let you forget time, all the time.
Man. I’m so glad I held on to this all these years. I have so much shit. Even got a Slug & Brother Ali performance from this same spot
@@DaILLSpotTV Any Swollen Members? They're awesome as well
@@MB0704 actually yes! Quite a bit!
2:02 - the clock switches to 8:08 right after “we were the only crew who promised your ass we’d take it” - these emcees are truly syncopated to the 🫀of HipHop (808 bass)
Ha! Good catch!
Fuck dude I was living down the street from the Basement at the time of the show but was only 7 years old. You can't imagine how jealous I am! I really wish I knew about el-p and aes at time. This is so sick!
Hey well I’m glad to have captured this. I even got a Slug and Brother Ali show I have yet to post!
My two favorite. The only cameos I ever looked forward to. If I had a dying wish it would be one more collab
pretty sure there's bad blood there. El is with Mike now, Aes is doing his zine stuff. They're two vast opposites now. Would'a been cool to be there in 1999-2004.
@@UnitedDiscord I know. But this is a dying wish so anything is possible
@@TheAutomaton37 I can dig it.
Yea they definitely had some issues. Not sure where they stand now but would be sick for a reunion one day
@@DaILLSpotTV Lol I have my theories, but i'll keep it positive. It'd be really cool to see them rock the same concert with their own shit, and then do 'Delorean' or something for the fans.
This is the greatest video ive ever seen on youtube. You win sir 🙌 👏 🙏
Oh wow. That means alot. Thank you kindly!
On the low one if there greatest features of all time. Love this song
Agreed!
Probably the best song on Bazooka Tooth. Back when they had beef with Esoteric and the Demigods crew (but I love all of those cats.) Lol. EL and Aes are untouchable though. Some of the best lyricists to this day.
I actually just heard Eso's diss to El-P for the first time today and I was starting to get into it and then he said "Gaysop Rock" and I was like "damn if I had to explain to someone in mainstream terms how delusional that is, its like lil pump dissing Eminem, like worse than sui**de"🤣🤣
Oh man. I forgot all about that
Definitely revisiting it all lol
I never knew of this. Damn I love czarface and Aesop and don’t know I feel about this now lol
@@TRUUTAH60559Czarface and RTJ are some of the best things to happen to hip hop over the past decade, imo. The first two Czarface album are incredible
You can't say he switched up just to get famous. He's still the same El-P.
For real
Agreed!
thanks for this upload
No problem. And thanks for viewing!
right we will never get to see some shit like this agaiin it sucks
lowkkey these two and slug are my fucking masters and Rob sonic was my sherpa.
the four greatest wordsmith ever heardeth
@@LORDHoekalledGAuhEY69TH i actually have footage of Slug and Ali performing at this location as well
So clean
Thanks m!
damn this reminds me of listening to Weathermen back in the day
Ayye hell yea!
Going up now!
This is 🐐 status
Yessir!
legends
Indeed!
Lol I was there. Off Ventura, back when I lived in the valley.
I lied, I was actually at this one th-cam.com/video/edifY7wKW1E/w-d-xo.html
Yessir. I captured quite a few dope performances over the years 💯
excellent upload. Thank you
You’re welcome!
must've been the days back then when these two were like brothers. Besides aesop really changed his clothing and I don't think I've seen him sport a yankee with brim in a long time
Bazooka Tooth Tour
@@DaILLSpotTV yeah, if I knew of aesop then and was old enough I would have loved to see this. It's my favorite hip-hop album
Word murderin plus
💪🏿
Damn, I was 2 months old back then
Haha that’s the beauty of capturing all of this
You have good taste to be here, young man.
I guess this was recorded on betamax or something. Only plays through the right speaker. Makes it seem even older than it actually is. Haha. Good shit. .makes me feel kinda old
Lol. Hi-8 tape. And no external mic. I guess it depends on what you’re watching on
@@DaILLSpotTV what I said was in no way designed to be negative, btw. Just the opposite
@@redeyestones3738 all good man. Definitely didn’t take offense to it. Much love
You got your speakers the wrong way around then, because only the left channel has audio.
@@bskbskbskbskbsk maybe you're high af
The bars in these 2 verses easily say more+better than the majority of people who call themselves rappers have ever said in their entire lives 💯😭
This song literally defines what it means to rhyme in hip hop
I would say this track, Revolutionary by Immortal Technique, Radio Inactive by Blueprint, Real Hip Hop by Lex Starwind and Involvement by GDP are some songs that very vividly embody what it really is as a whole
Dope insight yo!

Jeez I was fucking four years old in this same city as this was going on I wonder what I was going as this was happening lmao well not Sherman oaks specifically but like not that far
Haha dope! It used to so many amazing performances up there. Definitely some I have yet to post. Glad I was around to document these times 💯
am i doing something wrong or is the audio just gone now?
It’s still there. Maybe it was a glitch. Hope you can hear it now
only plays out my right speaker
@@TRUE_GR1T yea the camcorder recorded in mono and I didn’t realize that when I edited this on IMovie years ago. My more recent videos have that corrected. I had too much tract going on this post to do it over
Before the Fuckery.
Indeed
What f*ckery?
@@grammarnationalistpartylol6301 they had a falling out
back before jaime sold out.
sold out how? he literally STARTED HIS OWN RECORD LABEL... el-p was never anti-money lol
Lol nothing wrong with evolving. That man put in decades of hard work to get to where he’s at
Back when el wasn't a sellout
Nah bro el-p worked for like 20 years before he blew up so I think he deserves it
Only thing this guys is selling out is shows and records. He’s remained true to his sound and message for 25 years.
