They don’t really need to change the rule. Just not equally enforce it - as has already been proven by this discussion. Like other “new rules” refs will slink away from it as the season moves on. You will not see another second yellow for restart delay this season.

The few things I don't really agree with in the video is the Doku incident which it wasn't because Doku looked at the ref seeing where he was pointing to and he kicked it to where he wanted it and the ref dragging Walker away from his position after talking to him and making him literally sprint over and conceding a goal instead of waiting until Kyle was in his position and THEN blew his whistle and also people are whinging that Trossard was treated "unfairly" when he was sent off... No he wasn't, he smashed into the back of Silva and then BOOTED the ball away WHILE on a YELLOW card... THAT'S A RED. All day everyday.
As far as "CITY FEAR ARSENAL!!!"... No.. Do we have a sense of "Oh... They've come to fight for the league, have they? Come on then..." yes. Yes I do.

Have you guys not seen the game? Walker was in line with his defence when the pass was played. He did not play Martinelli on. He was already giving instructions. It was not a quick free kick.

Walker got back fully by the time Martinelli stopped dribbling. The goal was scored because of weak defending around the box and a great strike. Not a free kick taken behind the halfway line.

@@easynowoldchap04 the ref also had saka out of position for starting the restart so quickly and that along with where they took it was bs I’ll give u that, but it was there cause bernado brought it there and got no card for it, plus the ref didn’t bring him out of position, he just was from it starting too quickly and with no whistle, however taking a free kick with no whistle off a restart like that is fairly common and not on the ref

As for the decisions, Arsenal were lucky the ref messed up Walkers positioning and Trossard’s red was a good decision. Fans typically always think they’re hard done by. Their only reason for being upset was the lack of concentration in the dying minutes.

Trossard was not kicking the ball away, he looks up and spots Martinelli making a run and he's playing him through. That whole incident was allowed because Oliver delayed his whistle and by the time he blew it, Trossard was getting on with it.
I mean city right now is not at its strongest, the defense needs work since last season tbh. Foden needs to start working again. And gundogan is still missing chances. B. Silva is not that good atm. There is still a lot of missing pieces in man city that are not working well yet imo. And guardiola defo needs to change up histactics against lowblocks

the problem with that argument is that City even when they're apparently under performing, they continue to pick up points. When it comes to the crunch they step up a gear and blow everyone away. Im 7 minutes in and this was such a refreshing POV on the game from the boys. Regardless of peoples opinions, this rivalry is great for the game. I agree its been pretty sterile in the past few years. Its outsider fans (Not City or Arsenal) making a bigger deal about it.
In defense of Walker on the Gabriel goal, what exactly is he supposed to do when the delivery from Saka is that spot on? He's never getting higher up than big Gab is. He's at a disadvantage because he's backpedaling where Gabriel is attacking space. That goal has almost nothing to do with Kyle Walker IMO. I think he can maybe try to block Gab's run with his body but then you're risking giving away a penalty and it's hard for him to block Gab anyway because he's so much weaker (not a dig at him, almost every player on the pitch is weaker than Gabriel).
Trossard should get more blame here. Needless foul (which on it's own could've been yellow) when he is already on a yellow, his team are 2-1 up and City were not in a position to score, stupid decision and possibly cost his team 3 points.

I love wenger and I think he was better than Sir rednose, but another thing he was not great at was picking keepers... after Seaman Goalkeeping was a weakness we had. Admitting i don't know this and getting someone else to make the decisions for that bit is just smart and professional.

Joey’s point about end of season schedule isn’t as great as he thinks it is. City have Villa, Brighton, and away at Old Trafford (a fixture they struggle with) in their last 10 games. Villa is better than Chelsea, Newcastle and Brighton are level, and rivalry games are tough. Plus City’s December is brutal and supposedly they will have to go through it not at full gallop and without the ability to use the January window. So I don’t really think anyone has a schedule advantage rn tbh

What we need is refs that are not bought and paid for and not homers were they make decisions to please the home fans. Consistency seems to the hardest thing for refs at the moment. Look how much time we spend talking about the refs instead of the game and the players....

Arsenal's end to this season is far, far easier compared to last season. Last season, they had Spurs, Villa, Utd, City, Brighton, in their last 10 games. This season it's only Liverpool.

The rules are the rules, I get the issues with consistency but I don’t get this idea of ignoring certain rules to get a good game. What other rules do these lads want ignoring so they can get a good game, where is the line ?
The opinion that “the rules are the rules” is the biggest issue that people aren’t getting past and discussing the actual problem.
Regardless of how the rules are written, getting sent off for kicking the ball away is a punishment that does not and never will fit the crime. It doesn’t matter if “that’s the rules”, the rules are terrible .. and nobody who likes football or is of below average intelligence believes that a player should EVER be sent off for such a minor offense.
There’s plenty of ways you can punish delaying a restart. Perhaps if the delay occurs in the team with the balls own box, they get to move the ball to the halfway line. Perhaps if it happens in the opposition half of the team with the ball they get to move the ball 10 feet forward from where the free kick was already given?
Perhaps the referees get to just add an extra minute in stoppage time for every deliberate delay?
Regardless, no player should ever be sent off for a 10-20 second delay.

I think city are just caught up comparing old Liverpool to Arsenal and theyre frustrated by the games they have to play against them. Arsenal are 100% so much more of a threat now, but i'd compare their POV on arsenal games to when peps barcelona had to play Madrid. They know the game is going to be more than football, mental battle, dark arts and shithousery and I think that bothers them more than then idea of arsenal being more of a threat to win the title.
