Emery vs Arteta is definitely the spiciest topic in premier league managers. I think that people don't talk about the pressure at top clubs right. Calling it "pressure" kind of hides the actual difficulties. Man U is probably the highest pressure club in the world in terms of Manager expectations and having to deal with superstars and a stubborn board. Maybe Emery is worse than Arteta at getting a team of superstars to listen. But when teams work with Emery he is definitely a tactician who can take wins in knockout stages.
Arguing that Unai is not better then Arteta when he has so many European trophies because Arteta manged to get 2nd places in PL and 1 FA Cup is fucking mentally. Thats some grade A I dont know football shit right there

He is so disrespected. Never had the luxury of finances unlike most other clubs. And if he wasn’t Everton manager I don’t think they’d have stayed up last 2 years
31:00 rory is right for once. No matter how many accolades pep collects and how he implemented the modern methodical style of football. Ferguson was one of a kind that will never be topped. Brought a 3rd division side fighting relegation to division one champs in 3 season. Then his European and domestic success at aberdeen that is second to none in Scotland. AND THEN, his whole mancherster united career and being able to maintain the top level of success for that long. Pep genuinely could never, and especially in the future, his manchester city success will surely be tarnished soon enough.
You could just as easily say Fergie could never do what Pep has done? What you’re doing is holding Pep superiority against him. Pep literally took a barca side, which the year before were failing. Had one of its worst campaigns in their history and won the sextuple in his first year of management. The first manager to win the treble in Spain, beating Fergie in a final btw. At Man City, he did what Fergie literally said was impossible to do (the domestic treble). It’s a lot closer than most people think. What you’re implying is disingenuous and clearly agenda driven.

Emery has won a total of 12 trophies. 7 of them were at PSG. He lost Ligue 1 to Monaco, in maybe the most farmers of farmers leagues, and ended up getting knocked out of the UCL by Barcelona after going in with a 4-0 advantage into the second leg. He's a good manager, but he's not proven anything at a big club.
I wouldn't call it luck with Mourinho. I can't stand the guy, but he was a translator at Barca but Van Gaal saw his potential and brought him in as an assistant. That's not luck, thats having a skill set and a manager promoting you into a position you earned.
Why is Ten hag held to a different standard to every other manager. Arteta finished 8th in his first 2 seasons as Arsenal manager and no one mentions it. Judging slot as a better manager after 4 games is a joke.
PSG was ROBBED by barcelona at that game, there is NOTHING embarrassing about being robbed at broad daylight by a team and losing due to it, i love this historic revisionism to defend your arguments.
Please stop saying Emery in Europe. There is far more to the man than Europe. I have to say that to run up the table like what he has done from 17th place 4th is huge pressure. All done with 3 ACL's by way of Mings, Kamara & Bunedia. Everything happening at Villa is far more impressive than Emery's record in Europe. It's the time taken to get our club back up and running where we belong. Arteta is a tit. The pressure of Managing Villa is far more pressure than what Emery has done before but he still gets the cigar out and does his touchline dances like it's just easy. He has been given the keys to our kingdom, which I have to add is something Arsenal would never do which was their downfall. I heard that Unai when at Arsenal wanted Wengers pictures taken down from around Arsenal Stadium. PSG isn't worth speaking about, others have failed at PSG. PSG no longer attracts the same media attention & shirt sales have declined since the departures of Messi & Neymar. The club and Ligue 1 have lost their bargaining power in sponsorship negotiations and overseas TV deals. Technically he is on par with Pep, yes....he is. When we destroyed Man City in the only show on earth to do so ever to Pep....that says it all....go on....watch it back. Wolves played us recently and suffocated our midfield knowing that if they didn't the score line would have been like that of a cricket match. Unai was 1-0 down so he did his thing bringing on our wide players to technically out do poor Gary the novice with his limited knowledge and the midfield opened up like the fucking Dead sea opened by Jesus!! Gary got pay back from no hand shake last time out. Wolves then, with no option but to capitulate going out wide giving Barkley and Co free regin and the rest was history. Unai isn't perfect but no one is.
They all change their standards based on who they are talking about. Is it just Trophies, or just winning percentage, or just playing style? dose the support from owners/summer budget matter? If you are no measuring using the same standards then its hard to come to the same understanding of the task.
People putting Arteta over Emery have lost their minds. Emery is closer to Guardiola than he is to Arteta. European trophies are the highest honour in this sport and people try to convince you that getting 2nd in a domestic league after spending approx. 600 million is somehow more impressive.

Winning Europa Leagues is obviously impressive, but there's a reason we're talking about that instead of the Champions League. He wasn't good enough

Arteta is showing clear signs of progress as Arsenal manager. ETH isn't. If Dyche and Arteta swapped places would either team play differently? Don't think so, score from a set piece, 10 behind the ball and refuse to cross the halfway line. £800M in 4 years Arteta has had, no manager in history has had a budget like that in their first gig... and he still wins nothing

Emery won nothing in his first 10 years managing professionally, Arteta has 1 cup in his 5 years managing professionally, so counting Emery's trophy's over a 20 year period compared to Arteta's 1 cup in 5 years is stupid. Arteta even managed to do it with the mess he inherited from Emery, something Emery couldn't even do at Arsenal. You can only really compare them to what they did in their first 5 years, which means Emery has 4 more years to win something with Villa with his 15 year experience he has on Arteta. The same standard must be applied to them if they're forcing a rivalry, the goalposts can't be moved to ''But it's little old Villa''. Emery's also held an L to Arteta at home this season.
Emery got his first managerial club promoted in his first season with them, got his second managerial club promoted in his first season with them and won the Europa League in May 2014 which is less than 10 years after he started managing (December 2004).

Love the Arsenal fan talking about Arsenal as one of the biggest clubs, they were years before Emery, they were years after him. They werent a big club around that time. City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Utd all far bigger. Arteta took them to back to back 8ths. Thats the Arsenal Emery managed. If you wanna slag him off, its the fact he couldnt take an 8th placed club like Sevilla or Villa to the Champions league with Arsenal.
Emery is a very good manager, but he’s had the opportunity to show he is great and he has failed at it. Arteta, on the other hand would be close to greatness if he can get Arsenal to win major trophies. Potential absolutely counts, and Arteta just has more potential than Emery.
that emery arteta chat gave me brain damage. emery finished higher than arteta did in his first 2 years and had arsenal on a 22 game unbeated run. if arteta was judged by the board the same way he would have been gone after a season. what emery has done at villa is better than what arteta has done at arsenal. all this pressure nonsense is making me laugh though because arteta's arsenal are serial bottlejobs
Arsenal are predominantly a champions league club. With respect, Emery's clubs aren't. Its tough to win a competition when you're not in it. 75% of emery's European cup games are not Champions League. In the past 30 years, Arsenal have played in the champions league 20 times.

Emery disrespect is unreal in these comments he didnt fail in psg he was there 2 seasons and won 5 trophies out of 8 two of those 8 being champions league which is a hard thing to win.
At arsenal he got them two points from champions league position first season after wenger left. And he took them two a final

Anytime people wanna criticize arteta the excuse is always “oh it’s his first job! It’s unfair! He plays pretty football” so should we just not rank him? Should we give him a pass for bottling the league twice? If emery would’ve bottled the league from the position arteta was in, he’d be laughed out of England. Emery is a serial winner.

Fired after 6 months, facts

Arteta took over a squad similar to what emery took over. Both had holes in it. Arteta won an FA cup in 4 months so no he would not have been fired.
Arteta would not perform as well as he did taking over as he later did. But he would have done better. Ppl forget, when emery was fired we were around 12th in the league. We had gone some 8 games or so with no win.
Might’ve won a league but of course emery had to screw it up
Sean Dyche got Burnley into Europe btw.
He is so disrespected. Never had the luxury of finances unlike most other clubs. Doesn’t get any plaudits because of the ‘way he plays football’ but that type of football got him results and surely results should be priority. Got Burnley into Europe on merit with the lowest transfer budget and still achieved two top ten positions in the league. Deserved a better job than Everton atm.
Buvey has a point on Sean Dyche he got Burnley 7th one season and Kompany gets relegated and gets the Bayern job mental

Yeah but the he won Europa that year so
I wouldn't even call PSG a big club. Its a club that wins the Ligue 1 standard each year. If you fail doing that... THATS BAD

Classic Rory move, he just does what he wants 🤣
They all change their standards based on who they are talking about. Is it just Trophies, or just winning percentage, or just playing style? dose the support from owners/summer budget matter? If you are no measuring using the same standards then its hard to come to the same understanding of the task.
These arteta fans over emery are mental. Talking about mentality over trophies... unbelievable.

Arteta is showing clear signs of progress as Arsenal manager. ETH isn't.

Arsenal are predominantly a champions league club. With respect, Emery's clubs aren't. Its tough to win a competition when you're not in it. 75% of emery's European cup games are not Champions League. In the past 30 years, Arsenal have played in the champions league 20 times.
