As always, great job in the review! I’m trying to pin down an approach similar to yours so that I can discover the best in the cup. Any recommendations for tweaking brew recipe, brewer, etc?
Hey Eric, thanks for the kind words. Think there are too many variables to make universal suggestions but grind and water are always the things that we prioritize. If the coffee is a little sour and salty, grind more fine. If the coffee is a little more bitter and astringent, grind more coarse. So much of it takes practice and experience
It was the Monteblanco but the product page and brew guide video don’t mention it being citric washed. Sounds like it would make sense with Julian’s notes, though. Sounds like an interesting coffee to try, love citric but on the fence with the processing addition thing.
@mikeydoesit makes a ton of sense if it was experimental processed because that coffee just didn't seem natural. The intensity right from the start indicating something a little unusual...

wasn't this a monteblanco "citric washed" coffee, i.e. processed with the addition of citrus
Not sure, didn't see anything that would have indicated it was, but it would make sense given the wildness and intensity of it....
