i thought i was getting old, because i was distancing myself from heavy music a lot lately, now that i think of it - it's mainly that 90% sound like this 00:07
@manosassassin I think his point is that 90% of it has already been made. Personally I can't stand core kids that say metallica and megadeht aren't heavy for example. I think in metal when it comes to "heaviness" there is a difference of definition. For modern fans it's all about the breakdown. For someone like me I'm 20 I enjoy some modern and classic. My preferred genre is thrash. So whats heavy for me probably is weak for you because your definition of heavy is all about "breakdowns" in low tunings using the top string only 😂
@@Poffadder I see, that's a different point entirely though. It does come down to your own interpretation and to me it's not just the guitar that makes music heavy.
I agree that a lot of stuff in metal sounds the same and it has bothered me too. But this isn't only happening in metal. It applies to almost all music genres. You have to aknowledge that sounding unique is very difficult to do. I also think it's more important to be expressive, than to be unique. You shouldn't force to do something different than others if it's not in alignment with the feeling you try to deliver.
You said it! Honest expression is all that matters, and if you find yourself struggling with you journey the best thing you can do is just stop and ask yourself what you really hope to get out or to accomplish with your music. The better you can answer that question, the less you need to be searching for answers about your path.
I have to thank you for roasting my music way back...now i moved on from music into crypto and found my wealth it was the best thing to get roasted by you Rumdy
I think too many people end up writing music in a linear way - like stream of consciousness - and they end up with something with very little repetition or things to remember because it's changing every 30 seconds
One of the notable characteristics of progressive genres is how they usually avoid repetition. Doesn't mean it has to be "stream of consciousness" or any less memorable than songs that repeat parts multiple times.
BROOOOOO I haven't watched any of your videos in quite some time, but i must say it was very refreshing. ps. You look like Pacho Herrera from Narcos 😂.
Rudy, I don't know if anyone has ever told you this before, but your voice is so peaceful and kind, have you ever thought about producing content by singing while making music?
That Null and Void song could easily have been a 1 minute and 30 seconds long song though, but, yeah, it does have that My Dying Bride's "Heroin Chic" type of vibe.
Left of Soul!!!! Yessss!! God when i wanna listen to music the first thing i think of is "man i wanna listen to left of soul, so great!!!" God it was bad
Bore me to death'o haha I love it, that last song was cool but it did take forever to start. Shave about 40 seconds off the front and I might press play and listen to the sound and enjoy.
Rudy, when are you lighting the pit again? Your roasting of these boring metal heads is delicious. When can you roast something interesting? Haven’t you had enough of these dull western tonalities and sleepy rhythms? Isn't it time for some exotic Arab tonalities and wacko time signatures that grab you by the earlobes and won’t let go? When can you char my mammal flesh?
Wow thanks for the totally vapid - I mean VALID criticism Rudy, the thing about the boxes was some next level thinking only a true savant could have come up with. Look forward to hearing the thousand song playlist of bands that sound exactly like us!

Music has peaked, I'm bracing for a cataclysm and a near-total extermination of humanity before we start over and re-rediscover increasingly-aggressive sounds.
