I’m a Jamaican from the U.K. who isn’t in touch with her family anymore and didn’t learn my culture. Your videos are so comforting and help me to learn more of who I am through food. Thank you so much ❤
Apparently, I have been making it by burning the sugar in the oil - that's how I normally do it, as I am cooking; but I like the idea of making & bottling for faster cooking - thank you 🙏🏾!!
We used a tin can on the stove when I was younger, however, now we just buy the Grace bottle. Watching this video brings me back and I will definitely make my own next time I make my jerk marinate.
Wow, you live and learn if you're paying attention. So simple. The TWO ingredients have been in my pantry all this time and didn't know/realized that I could've been making browning all along😮😂Thanks man. Thumbs up
Thanks for the video! Very helpful, but I’m still worried about burning my pot. I know you mentioned the key is turning down the fire as the sugar begins to carmelize but I’ve tried making browning (with both water and oil, which is worse!) and although the taste is good, cleaning the pot literally takes days. It would be great if you could do a more detailed video on (1) avoiding burning and (2) various uses. 🙏
Good day, Nick. I use dark soya sauce to season my meat. I use Eve browning for my fruit cakes. If I'm doing brown stew chicken, I brown sugar with some oil to fry my chicken. I'm definitely going to try and make my own. Thank you for another great tutorial. Blessings and more blessings. One love. 💙❤️🇯🇲💯✨️
nice! really great as well for faster caramelized onions and I also use it to add something close to that “wok hei” flavor to fried rice and chow mein. just generally an amazing tool for when something doesn’t turn out as toasty as you wanted or you want to save some time or just add an extra dimension of that toasty flavor. idk why I never knew about this stuff before because maillard and smoky flavors are just as much a cornerstone of cooking as salt or acid or fat and browning is basically just pure maillard and can have as much or as little char flavor as you need. dope video as always 🫡
@marjiecoleman5002 does using natural sugar give less chance of diabetes? I work with a young guy of Caribbean heritage and he takes in Alot of processed sugars, I do worry about him as I know diabetes seems prevalent in Caribbean culture
@@richbrown5852 Yes it does! Natural sugars from fruits are great! It is also possible to reverse Diabetes 2 with a strict diet change, Plant base, Vegetable base, and not forgetting good quality Fruits. I know several people who were Diabetics (2) and got it reversed. High quantities of processed food is killing people all over the world right now.
@marjiecoleman5002 thank you marjie, I always offer him some of the fruit I bring with me daily, more times he'd sooner stop off for some haribo, as a fatherless son, I try guide him without being too strong with it
It's great learning the more traditional recipes from your lands - I like trying different cuisines and haven't ever had the chance to get over there so will definitely be trying this in time. Thank you for taking the time to prepare and do these videos :)
That’s so very interesting, I have never thought of making Browning. But you have inspired me to try your recipe because I can control what goes in it. Thanks again for such informative video.
Why didn't I know browning was just brown sugar and water? Imagine leaving your house to buy Browning or thinking my food colour isn't dark enough, and brown sugar has been there all along lol Feed & Teach for real! Cheers!
Sorry this recipe is the cause of the epidemic outbreak of Diabetes in Jamaica, @ the Caribbean process man made sugar is not good for the body, hence Diabetics.😢
That wouldn't be correct, browning the sugar, especially for darker browning sauce reduces the amount of calories to negligible levels compared to sugar. Not just that but browning is usually used in smaller quantities (tablespoons) to flavour and colour food.

Exactly! like man made sugars, the cause of the staggering percent of Diabetes in Jamaica, not a good look.😢

BEAUTIFUL LESSON, THANK YOU SIR
Anything you can make your self and get the flavour you like is better than store bought.
Awesome, definitely gonna have a try at making bittersweet browning.

Cheers!
👍🏾💯
Ok so mi stop buying browning a shop. Tanks mi bredrin. 🤣🤣🤣
Ahh yes old fashioned browning
You can make it in cans, like condensed milk can and cheese pan !!!
Now I see why we're taught to burn the sugar to brown stew.
👍
