A man of elegance both on and off the field. Was booked just twice in his entire career. So articulate with a calm and soothing voice. Cannot speak highly of him. A lot to learn from this thorough gentleman.

Charlton on the ball was devastating, he always looked like he was going to create a goal or score himself, amazing control and vision of the game. He's also a warm and humble man.

To this day Sir Bobby Charlton remains the greatest player ever to put on an England shirt. He has also been the perfect ambassador for both Man Utd and England, known and respected all over the world. There will never be another like Sir Bobby. The word "legend" is over-used these days, but Bobby is a true footballing legend.

Couldn't agree more. He is head and shoulders the very best English player ever. He never went missing for any game. So many English greats, like the Golden Generation, never imposed themselves like Bobby did. He was a phenomenal workhorse.

I don’t think Bobby Charlton would agree. He says edwards was much better than him. There were also 3 or 4 other Busby babes who were as good, such as Eddie Colman. All the pros who saw Edwards play say he was the best they’ve ever seen.

The nicest most humble man, a magnificent footballer, an amazing human being, along with George and Denis Law, made me a Man United fan as a wee boy, i have been a Rangers fan for 50 years, but Bobby is a man i admire most as a football fan, a true great, no question, just a delight to listen to. His everything that was great about british football . Worshipped the guy as a kid and still do . When Man United and Best , Law and Charlton were in town the grounds were a sell out . And anything outside the 18yrd box would probably serve up a Charlton thunderbolt
I can still remember a few of his specials against the likes of Spurs and Arsenal,s of this world . The goal against mexico in 66 , as soon as he picked it up and started running towards the Mexican goal you just new he would unleash one of his specials . A very special english footballer is our Bobby .

Although Bobby Charlton was unquestionably one of our greatest players ever, and gets a spot in my all-time England XI, he wasn't the best player in our '66 squad: that honour goes to Bobby Moore, cited to this day as the best defender of all time by none other than Franz Beckenbauer. That squad boasted 4, maybe 5 world class players: Banks, Moore, Charlton, Greaves, and according to observers at the time, Ray Wilson, regarded by many as the best left back in the world.

Sir Bobby is so modest. Talking sbout the Mexico match in the 1966 World Cup he merely says he managed to score a goal. I remember that moment, as a 15 year old, and when he unleashed that pile-driver and it hit the back of the net it was electrifying! No wonder the team settled down after that and started playing with confidence.

Great stuff. One thing that got glossed over, probably due to his modesty, was his transition from winger to midfield general. She asked the question then was probably to polite to follow up. He mentioned Don Revie is that role but he was the master. I was so lucky to see him from 63 to 70 and even now, he doesn't really get his due. Naturally people focus on the power of his shot, with both feet but his control of midfield has never been surpassed. Nobby and Crerand, predominantly, would get him the ball (he's candid about his own lack of tackling) and he would take over. Not just hitting passes of all lengths but controlling the spin. Outside of the right foot to curl into the stride of the left winger. Hit high like a wedge shot with backspin for Law to collect at speed. Artistry..

Some have now scored more, played more games, got more caps Etc. But he is loved and respected so much because he never coasted, and was a great representative both on and off the field. The question about how he 'personally' was affected by Munich was superb - I don't he'd ever been asked about Munich like that before, and his answer was beautiful.
I also loved what he said about his crying -but when he won, ever when he lost - and how he cries even now when watching great sporting achievements.
He's wrong though about a defender making a mistake enabling George Best to go through and score the vital goal in the 1968 European Cup final - it did look look that at first glance, but a close look reveals that George was so quick he whipped the ball away from the defender in a fraction of a second, the defender could do nothing about it.
    GREAT interview, thank you!

It's possible that we won't appreciate just how good Bobby Charlton was as both a player and a gentleman, until he is no longer with us. Possibly the greatest player England has ever produced.

Sem sombra de dúvidas Bobby Charlton foi GÊNIO.mas o melhor jogador inglês de todos os tempos indiscutívelmente foi Sir Stanley Mathews

When players played the game for enjoyment, I have total respect for Bobby charlton, superb player, played with my favourite player of all time George best, he was a world champion, a European champion, great servant to Manchester United, red through and through.

It's such a shame that he doesn't get the views and likes that players like Bruno Fernandes gets. He's undoubtedly the greatest English Footballer ever. Only Bobby Moore can be compared to him

Bobby Charlton would say it was Duncan Edwards. As would anyone in the game who saw him, managers and players alike. Edwards would likely have kept Moore out of the England team, certainly as captain.

Weird that the video's has been uploaded with no editing, that they didn't cut out the crew. Bobby looks so well here, aged 64. Looks a shadow of his former self today, heartbreaking.
