    I'm one week into recovery and man I can't wait to stop using the antibiotics eye drops and then after another week I can start reducing the frequency of artificial tears. Then the 1 week post op on Monday and I can start working out again. Some of the best cosmetics decision I made in my early twenties is working out, Lasik, preventative anti-aging skincare, get on hair loss med when I saw early signs of hair loss, and taking care of my overall health and wellness. And also growing a beard + threading my eyebrows and finding good barber.

    I experienced weird side effects
    I had the Relex smile procedure in April 2022. I looked at horror stories before I had the surgery but I ignored them and thought there is a very low chance that I will be one of these people who experienced complications. I was wrong, I did experience complications from the surgery. I experienced quiet bothersome side effects.
    These side effects were persistent afterimages,hazy vision, spots, shadows, sudden blurriness, reduced vision in dim light, floaters, flashes, glare and starbursts. Shortly after the surgery I started noticing I get lots of afterimages whenever I look at bright lights. When I look at bright light and look away I can still see the imprint of the light shape in my vision. I know a lot of people have this but after the surgery I noticed that it is much easier and quicker for these afterimages to form and they last much longer than normal ( over 5 minutes!). I am now much more prone to getting these annoying afterimages whenever I look at bright lights and let me tell you they are quiet annoying since they disrupt my vision. Immediately after the surgery I also noticed I had bothersome floaters ( mostly in my left eye). These floaters are also quiet annoying. They are always there and they are quiet big. I asked the clinic about these two side effects and they said that it is not related to the surgery since they are to do with the back of the eye (the retina and vitreous) and not where they operated which is the cornea. However I find that hard to believe since I never had these problems before the surgery and its a big coincidence that they started happening right after I had the surgery. The fact is laser eye surgery does affect the whole of the eye and not just the cornea.
    Overall I am not satisfied with the results because of these side effects. I was expecting top notch results for the high fee I had to pay for the surgery. Even though the intended correction has been achieved I still suffer from anxiety and depression as a result of these side effects ( especially the afterimages, hazy vision, spots and shadows).

    Had lasik surgery in 2000 and now having problems. My eyes are very dry, I see double. I do massage, take restasis drops, use hot masks but still my eyes are dry. My specialist told me I would have to live the rest of my life with that problem I'm 70 years old. One of my lens is deteriorating and he told me it would be dangerous to redo a surgery. Do you have any suggestions?

      I had lasik in 2019 and I am currently waiting to see Rheumatologist. I also have dry mouth so I think I may have Sjogren’s. Apparently most people only have mild dryness for 6-12 months healing after that. Seems to be the case for everyone I know who have had it so me constantly putting eye drops and it not helping they think is underlying problem. They did recently make me autologous serum tears which are helping and way better and cheaper than prescription drops like restasis. They’re still expensive because insurance doesn’t cover but I paid $100 for two bottles which they said should last 2-4 months. I’m using it four times per day with the artificial tears in between. Artificial tears did nothing for me by themselves. I feel so much more relief with the serum tears supplementing. Ask your old surgeon or ophthalmologist about this and maybe have some extra lab work done if you have any autoimmune disease symptoms. They take your blood to make the serum tears. It’s not bad though. Like a regular blood test. Then they spin it in a machine to get the serum and mix in some saline eye drop solution. It’s kinda weird but I was desperate and the research is good. Lord does it help. I’m recommending it to everyone with dry eye suffering when over the counter hasn’t helped

    • @EyeSchoolwithDrD
      @EyeSchoolwithDrD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      First of all, I am terribly sorry to hear that. It really could be a lot of things. Crying a lot will change the tear chemistry and contribute to dry eye feeling. But also, you mentioned it happens in the morning when you wake up which is often the case when ones eyes do not fully close overnight. I would definitely recommend trying to find a dry eye specialist near you to find out what exactly is happening. Good luck in your journey, my deepest condolences to you!

    As a tennis instructor that plays on clay courts (sand/dirt) am I going to face difficulties as I hit the ball and the dirt occasionally going into my eye?
    I’ve got my Lasik about 3 days ago, curious on the precautions I should take. I did it specifically to avoid glasses, am I ironically going to have to wear some to avoid that?
    Has the operation evolved in any way throughout the time?
    And when one if the eye balls is blood shot, does that mean the procedure didn’t go on it as well as it could have?
    Appreciate your time in advance.

If the law bans them they will not disappear and there will be less people out there equipped to protect their families. To be honest with you, any gun is deadly. At the age of 43, I was wearing specs with -3/5 in right eye and -2.0 in left eye. Due to problem in wearing specs of near and far, I took risk and did laser on 28th May, 2022 only for far vision correction. Dr. 1st said that in 3 days, i will be able to see properly and do all computer and writing work by 3rd June, 2022. Today as on 6th June, 2022, In left eye I still have -0.75 number and in right eye I still have -1.25. I have near number of +1.25. so now with 1 eye i can see far clearly and with1 eye i can see near clearly. Outdoor i can see from left clearly to certain level and from right not so clearly. In the night time from right eye i am completely blind and with left eye i can see only objects with lights around and people when they come too close. Cant ride bike and drive car in morning and night both properly. The dr. is saying ke variation in number correction happens and it is normal and i should come after 3 months and after that give any complaint. so i should for 3 months work as half blind for 3 months. he told me about dryness and regression but he never told and in all the videos on youtube no one have uploaded any video in which no. in one is corrected properly to 90% and no. in one eye is corrected to 50%. Now sometimes i can see far things properly, but not semi-far things and sometimes near things. my eye sight is now cocktail. The vision will change or not change. now only time will tell and no other option except waiting for 2nd enhancement if any. Kindly guide. 😔😪
