Hearing the samples makes me want to listen to the original songs that were sampled. He sampled some great songs from the late 60s to about 1980, just from this upload.
That Horizon Drive sample is still probably one of the sickest samples I've heard. Preemo is an OG when it comes to samples. Rest in Power Guru and Vic Juris
The old Gang Starr track? It’s from Don’tIt Drive You Crazy by The Pointer Sisters. A few years ago a did a full sample breakdown of that album th-cam.com/video/COlb3HYNZRs/w-d-xo.html
If you know anything about preemo is that he's grown out of that mentality. He was only annoyed by sample snitching in the early days because of potential lawsuits it caused, especially after the bis markie case. Nowadays he understands giving the artists props and fair do's, making an effort that the sampled artists are rightfully credited and compensated. So no, he isn't against discovering the original sample and putting it out on blast
@@FonkedUpProductions care to share this video? If it's the one im thinking of where he's sharing how he makes a beat, it's a precaution of not actually clearing it since it's not been officially released. Nothing to do with songs that are out there on wax
@@WilkyWay3000 this is from 8 years ago so yes it is kind of dated but at the same time it is not a video from the 90s this is current times he even says it at the beginning th-cam.com/video/YuCXYeKFtgI/w-d-xo.html
@@FonkedUpProductions aye it is the one I was thinking of. Like I said being it's not out on wax it's a precaution since he hasn't got clearance. Also doesn't want anyone from the internet jacking the beat and using it themselves and get all the credit. Nowadays you see Primo share the samples he used on 90s records like what he done for NPR. Also at concerts, one I have been to, he happily starts off with the original sample at the show then reveals that it's one of his beats. He even does sample snitching himself at the show's playing mobb deep and Wu tang joints revealing their samples. So it's fair to say these days he embraces the culture of people who discover where these samples come from.
Gang Starr are amazing. DJ Premier has produced some amazing things for them and his drums and scratching add so much. And then Guru rhyming over the top. The way sone of the samples have been flipped is amazing too. So I don’t agree with your comment in any way.
Hip hop mean nothing to me after I discover that almost every single tune is taken from older music (sampled if u like ) even worst that I've told that this is the base of hip hop ... It's not an art any more It's piece of crap
Yes most hip hop is based on samples. It’s not just hip hop that uses samples though. I’ve made another video showing some huge musical artists that have sampled, including Michael Jackson and Madonna. th-cam.com/video/ZOlPghK7fCM/w-d-xo.html

@@DJFurio I suspect that step in the arena was sampled in 2pac I get around
Yes it was sampled in the 2Pac track
Jay flips em better sorry not sorry
Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal
Some of the samples were just evident; others were so intricately remodelled beautifully
That’s why I rate Preemo so highly
@@DJFurio he always retained thr masculinity of the beats too which is different to many other performers whose music became unisex
Most Preemo beats hit so hard. It’s usually his drums that make you notice right away it’s one of his productions.
My guy! Gangstar forever Gang Starr for life!! RIP Guru one of the best yet!!
Thanks for watching

DJ Premier samples are the best.
I really rate him
If you uploaded these type vids that got flagged again, but unlisted, would TH-cam still give you copyright grief? Loved putting people onto these.
Unfortunately not. I can only make them Members Only videos
Although I find these super cool, Preemo probably hates your guts 🤣🤣🤣 Thx bro 😎
