looking at the inside of that engine, I'd say that was salvageable. the rotor housings are clean and the crankshaft looks good too. The timing chain you mentioned is the oil pump drive.

He didn’t even attempt to remove anything correctly, he’s only doing this for views from his normal audience of inept and oblivious morons that don’t know what they’re looking at and time spent doing it correctly isn’t beneficial to him. That engine can be rebuilt... Please put that saw down. They don't make parts for them anymore. And you cut the crank in half... In south Africa that crank is R20 000.

My grandfather worked with Felix Wankel in germany And helped create this type of engine. he was a close friend and a master machinist. my grandfather Later worked for the New York Times on huge printing presses ,Were many years later he retired. Me I personally owned a 88 rx7 . Totally different body style then the one pulled out of the river. Lots and lots of aluminum on that one.. I still miss the car..Cruising North Jersey in my early 20s ..Sold the car for $3000 in 96 was in great condition
Always did wonder what the inside looked like on a Mazda Rotary Engine. I've replaced several of them as they did have a seal problem, but go like snot when running. No end of revs to them.
You know for a sitting underwater for that long and how rusty it was on the outside i’m surprised how clean it was on the inside I feel like that engine could’ve been saved anyways great video keep up the great work.

You know I had a 77 Doge Asspen I was driving down the 401 in Windsor Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 in the 90s and was passing a lot newer cars and they were broke down on the side of the road. So dang interesting. The only thing I knew was to use a clothes pin 😂 in breather so I could get the car started when it got flooded 😃😅. I'm a woman so I know about fixing cars. I knew much less than Jared. Jared was so comical. 😘😂😂😂😂 ❤️ from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

Jared, Please check the wheel rims to be sure they are really aluminum, and not magnesium. Magnesium will totally burn up in a fire once it ignites. I had that happen on a military dynometer. It burned a nice bright white.
There were times I would have loved to have been able to "just cut that bolt". It was hard to watch, but it was still fun. Oh and I counted 7982 Kiras, but may have missed a few.
I'm very fascinated by complicated and intricate mechanisms or very odd & interesting things. But unfortunately my lady never shares the same enthusiasm as me either lol.

Hard to tell but those apex seals looked mint. Wouldve been cool to see if it still had compression after all these years as its easy to tell on rotaries. (Insert overused reliability joke)
The part that people call "Dorito" is called a rotor, and it has 3 faces that act as combustion faces and they rotate around to transfer fuel mixture to each part of the combustion process.

Back in the early 70's,Arctic Cat Snowmobile put a Wankel engine in one of their sleds. Really wasn't too popular. Love the video's, can't wait for you to get back in the water.

explaining the 2 spark plugs is easy, it is about controlling the flame front in the cylinder, the plugs are timed so that the bottom of the rotor is forced across then the rest of the fuel is lit so that it burns to force the rotor around rather than sideways, as far as the transmission, it is the part with the gears the rest is just castings for other various purposes
2 spark plugs per rotor, yes they both spark. They're callrd leading and trailing plugs. They spark at slightly offset times. Leading, sparks first closely followed by the trailing which helps catch, speed up the burning of unburnt fuel. Another reason is that the combustion chamber is so large that it needs the extra "umph"

Yes, the plates can be melted down, as well as the terminals. You will end up with a lot of slag on top though. Be sure the lead is TOTALLY DRY. Water + molten lead= explosion. I saw one happen and the guy's face & beard was covered with molten lead. His eyes only survived because he had safety goggles on. He was told to make sure the material was totally dry before putting it into the lead pot. He said it was.......Sure & the check is in the mail.....

Bro I got to the point where you cut the crank and my head exploded.. I build Race Engines and that hurt so much. Those parts are worth big money and can absolutely be re used. I've built race motors out of Engines left out in the rain for 40 years. Love your vids man but this one really really hurt.
MAN, this car had a perfect body than the other cars he pulled out from Lakes & Rivers. The car could have been originally restored, but instead he have to TORE IT APART INTO PIECES!!! 😥

Those housings and rotors weren't even in bad condition literally could have gotten resurfaced and used them Mazda does not make these parts anymore and you hacked it up 😢
You could mix the metals together or use the aluminum for the center and cast iron around or make smaller aluminum and mount on larger steel coins ! Plenty of options !
Each "section" is a cell. Each cell is 2.5 volt x 6 is little over 12 volt. That gives you a 12 volt battery, melt the lead down an make sinkers or coins. Hope this helped! #MORHECTruck
That battery would have worked most likely, but you took all the acid out. Next time, take some sulfuric acid drain cleaner, mix with water at a 50/50 ratio, and pour it in. Then charge overnight.

There just good for scrap unfortunately. By the time they got them to clean up enough to use the clearances would be extremely out of spec.

Back in high school physics class we built a plastic model of a Wankel rotary engine. It's cool to see an actual engine taken apart.
The motor could have been salvaged with how mint it looked from the inside.
That engine could never be salvaged. It was not mint. It's nothing but scrap metal.

yes you can melt all of the plates to get the lead its divided into 6 cells with a little over 2 volts each to give you a 12 volt battery.
