He is right, I used to glass surfboards and once in a while, I had to get 5 gal's of resin and found out really quick to turn the fiver around when poring it. 🤪
As a Contractor I always stay in contact with the customer at every step of the project for this exact reason. So there are NO miscommunications that result in extra work or loss of job profits !!
I’ve been doing concrete for 48 years and have the top sandblast/Vanderbilt finish crew in Nashville. There are a lot of tips that I could give you on this. We pour literally 1000’s of yards of this a year with little to no issues at all
Loving your videos, you guys work hard! Little trick I learned 30 or 40 years ago... spin the 5 gallon bucket around when you pour. If the spout is up, it won't burp. Keep up the good work, make us old concrete guys proud.
10:29 Color the anchor end of recoil cord so last foot pulled out provides a guide for operators to adjust their stroke to. This worked right away even though the generator recoil assembly was undersized without room for more than 60cm of starter cord.
Greetings from Thornton Colorado! I don’t know how many of those pull start ropes I’ve replaced but quite a few. One thing I learned was that more often than not is the cord is being pulled upwards instead of up and out. This creates a sharp channel over time in the metal grommet the rope passes through which cuts the cord. You can actually mark the cord 12 inches before full travel and you can also take a large flat blade screwdriver, insert into the grommet and carefully twist which moves the location of the sharp edge. Worked for me and maybe will help others. Great video!
🌟🌟🌞🌟🌟 Food for thought, when first pouring out of a 5 gal. as they were - rotate the bucket with the spout on top ( not on bottom as they were spilling all over the place loosing product) and tilt the sprayer up against the bucket. same as pouring oil in motor or antifreeze in radiator. Once the 5 gallon is down a couple - they can go back to doing it like in video and have better control . Iam an old track vehicle repairer from the 702nd Maint. Suport 2nd Inf. Your doing good work there, good work ethics, now pour from the top of the bucket when new LOL 😂 😂
Just happened to catch one of your videos narrated by David. I've since watched videos narrated by Tyler. What I like about your presentations is the lack of hype and straightforward how-to. I actually have enjoyed watching your team proceed through each job with a sense of pride and professionalism. I'm not in the trades but have always liked watching craftsmen and women work. Also enjoy learning about all the different tools and products you use on the jobs. Continued success and yes, new subscriber!
When the pull rope breaks you might be able to romve the cover and insert the large nut into a socket and start with a derill or impact driver. To keep you going.
Sweet install and finish, no puddling...Glad you sorted out the miscommunication.... That happens far too much in this industry, quite often it's because the client agrees to something you covered because they didn't understand...It can be really expensive. I hope you're using video equipment and recording equipment in Scope discussions and contract signings...
Ouch, I've been there and done that. I laid about 600 sq. ft. of saltillo tile in the wrong house, fortunately, the homeowner decided to keep the free tile job. Even worse, the carpet layers were at the correct house and had no time to wait on us so we had to set the correct house with the new carpet already installed. 3 days to straiten out that huge mess not to mention the dollar loss. Oh yeah, the good old days. How would you like a knucklehead move like that? It only happened once LOL Really like the sand wash finish!
We gave someone a brand new sewer from the house to the sidewalk. Took us less than 1 hour, and when the homeowner noticed, he told us it was the wrong house. The office sent us his primary residence instead of the job address, which was next door! He got 2 brand new sewer laterals for the price of one.
My man pulled the 1000V rated Klein out. 🤙🏻 Always sucks when you have a misunderstanding with the client, but you handled things very professionally. Keep up the great work bro.
You guys should really use a demo hammer with a spade attachment for all that digging! It saves a bunch of time breaking all the dirt up especially clay.
You poured the 5 gal jug upside down. This is why it glugged everywhere making a mess. Pour with the spout on top! It seems weird, but you'll understand when you do it.
Great job team, smart on you to take rest day off and come back fresh. Doing the drain work always looks the most complicated to me, getting the slope right. It's probably not bad, just never done it 🤔 PS- love the sand wash finish. Best finish around a pool, I like it better than salt, salt is too slick even 👍
Recoil repair hack - fish the broken end of the rope out of the rope hole in the cover. Reattach the handle and leave the rope full out. Where the rope is attached to the recoil, (and is lined up with the rope hole) pull the rope up and out a few inches such that it can slide between the recoil and the cover. While holding the rope close to the recoil, begin rotating the rope and recoil as one unit in the same direction that the rope is pulled when starting the engine. When the recoil spring begins to feel adequately loaded, stop at the rope hole exit location. While preventing the recoil from retracting, pull the rope tight using the rope handle such that the rope and recoil rope groove are in line. Allow the spring to pull the rope in and replace recoil on the engine.
I feel for anyone who has to move a lot of dirt by shovel and wheel barrow. I spent this summer digging out my backyard (120'L x 80' W x 8" D.) by shovel. Not a damn skid in town to be had.
For the drains lines ABS would be a lot better. Could be snaked easier, those fittings can’t get a snake around them. The nut in the middle you might be able to spin it with a drill.
I noticed one major problem with your pool deck pour. You're missing the equipotential bond that's required by code. You need a #6 bare copper wire bonded to your rebar in a ring around the pool bonding it to the pool equipment and the pool panel. This prevents people from getting shocked by the pool and deck acquiring different charges as well as limiting corrosion.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I couldn't see it in the video. The equipotential bonding ring needed to be within a few feet of the pool and bonded to your rebar in multiple places. Bonding it only next to the panel and equipment is in violation of the code. I am an electrician by trade and that's one of the first things I looked for. It's hard to miss because most electricians will allow the wire to lay as it lays instead of keeping it square with the rebar.
Any reason not to use rebar chairs? Blokes where just mashing it into the soil. Not good to have the rebar in contact with the ground. It rusts it, plus adds nothing to the strength - got to be inside the concrete slab.
Question: Why didn't homeowner want a retaining wall built next to all that dirt at higher fence elevation? Also: What happened to the cool power sprayer you guys had?

I'd imagine there's some good money coming in from a job like this even with the $200 - $500 cable repair and extra day of digging they're gonna be in profit.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete That's still a healthy profit. Makes it easier to watch the video. I was hoping you wouldn't have to eat costco dog food for a month to cover these losses.
17:58. Rotate bucket 180 degrees (so the spout is towards the sky). Seems crazy, but it will pour without all the gargling.
Or stab a hole in the top of the bucket so air can enter though it.
Just like an old quart of oil 👍
^^ THIS
Always pour off the high side :)
Good tip 👌👌

I’ve done a lot of sand finish where we wash it the same day with no retarder . Scrubbing with a horsehair broom . Then acid wash a few days later .
Love O'Dell and his crew. They show the reality of doing the trades. Adapt and overcome.
Yes sir that’s what it’s all about

Ya had me going with your title. I thought the sandwash job might have gone bad, and you'd have to tear out new concrete. Glad THAT didn't happen.
Haha yeah it wasn’t that bad but I did make a little mistake xD
6:36 you need a corded jackhammer with a clay spade to speed the digging/clearing process up

Looks great !! If the retaining wall was strait which it was off the house you could have squared off of it to get Parallel !

I was just going over techniques with jimi
Love the sand finish.
17:47 It will pour better with the spout at the top. Same goes for motor oil.
Great attitude, I'm a carpenter and redoing stuff is never fun, enjoying these videos thanks

Beautiful finish, unreal
hey you guys should use pickaxes to break the dirt and scoops to move it to the wheel barrows this is way faster.
9:10 when you compact the dirt how do you know it's all compacted evenly, so it won't "dip" later, and level?
I'm always making sure any contractors at my house are clear about what I want.
Great job.
That pool looks skateable...
looks awesome!!
Good to know the Pythagorean theorem is being used ! lol
Hay dudes. The barrle of the. Spin so the neck is at the top. It won't glug out like it is here. Less spills for the future
Will it look good with intergal colors and sand wash finish ??
Can the sand finish work good for a driveway also?
Ohh yeah, plus its great when trying to match an older piece of concrete that's become a sand wash finish over time from erosion
I'm confused on how to get your drain points. How to lay forms out for that.
Practice makes perfect
just curious but did you guys pour to the weep screed line? it kind of looked like it in the video

What is "top cast"?
It retards the curing so you can wash away the cream and get the sandwash finish

Here a City inspector would not allow us to frame within 5ft of the adjacent property line.
