    Thank you Filip. Very helpful. Randomly remembered this song today and thought "hey I think I have enough free time to have a go at it". Glad to have stumbled upon your video.

    I'm so glad someone on TH-cam is taking on Julian Lage songs. Looking forward to learning from this series and thank you for all the work you put in making these lessons available! Any chance doing In Heaven (for which you published a transcript already) or Ryland next? :) Thank you again for all the work that goes into these lessons!

      Thanks for your supporting comment. I was actually thinking about re-recording Ryland and doing a lesson because I just love the song. However I already started preparing next transcription so this might come in the future.

    Why is this simple melody so special? I dont get why I cant stop listening to it. I like his version on youtube on his Telecaster.

      @@PhilipPoland1987 Keep it simple. Memorable. Lots of space of interpretation.
      Do you have the basic chord progression btw?

    Great video! I already play this song as transcribed but even still your explanations on how to approach certain sections and how in the future one could branch out and make the song their own was really helpful.

    Great content man! Do more of this, they are really nice. For the final scale I'd suggest not thinking it like a scale but rather aproximation notes to the chord tones. So what you play is the triad (1 3 5) + the approximation notes for the 3 and 5, ending with 1 b3 3 b5 5. I'm sure this is closer to how Julian is thinking of it, instead of a scale in particular which makes it a little harder to use (in my opinion). Keep up the quality ;-)

    • @PhilipPoland1987
      @PhilipPoland1987  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe you're right. I said it's a scale but I'm not sure how I process it in my head... Maybe I think about it as E6 arpeggio with minor third added... But regardless of convention, I really think I'm into something here, listen to Island Blues :)

      @@PhilipPoland1987 Oh nevermind, for some reason I read Bb and B but it's B and C# that you mentioned. You're right, disregard what I said :)
