    This has been my grail watch for a few years. It’s absolutely beautiful. Much better than most watches out today.

    Picked up mine today. The 38MM size is just perfect.

    Happy owner of this watch since a couple of months. Stunning dial, perfect diameter for my 17.5 cm wrist, really comfortable and slim. Love how the watch plays with the light. The only con would be the absence of micro adjustment of the bracelet.

    Been a fan of the Laureato for several years and have noticed used prices creeping-up since the Royal Oak explosion, perhaps unsurprisingly especially for the blue dial variant!

  • @Alex-Rainmaker

    I would choose this over the IWC Ingenieur anytime. Only wish the 38mm is available in other colors like blue or white dial.

  • @RedwoodAggie
    @RedwoodAggie ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I've always liked these. The Royal Oak has grown on me, but I still think I'd prefer a Laureato. The 42mm definitely (on paper) seems a bit big. I've not had a chance to try on on though. This 38 size sounds great. The copper dial has a very '70s color tone. I definitely think this is a serious consideration if looking at the new IWC Ingenieur. The pre-owned examples of these used to be decently priced a few years ago, but now that they're "discovered" they've gone up quite a bit. Still way better than anything from AP or Patek pre-owned though, and the Nautilus still hasn't grown on me after 5 years of exposure to the design.

    That copper dial is stunning, I have the 42 mm chrono in blue and I like it much more than my PP 5711!!

    IWC wishes its Ingeniur could be compared to the GP Laureato, but it really cannot.

    • @picanha694
      @picanha694 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ingenieur uses eta based movements at that price is crazy

      @onurkucukarslan6538 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@picanha694 The older Ingenieur AMG is a beautiful interpretation with an in-house movement, and you can find it under 3k.

    • @uzer03
      @uzer03 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tried on both. IWC feels way better in everything. And it's 3k cheaper.

      Laureato definitively kills the Ingeniur and is one of the best wearing watches out there. Truly silk on the wrist!

    Absolutely beautiful watch but....the lack of micro adjustment on the clasp, and the unremarkable power reserve are really lazy on the part of GP.
    I have a JLC Gran Sport from the mid-90s. Not only does it have a near-identical butterfly clasp which has on-the-fly adjustment, but it also has a 44-hour power reserve from a much smaller case/movement.

    Always felt that this watch was kinda average when you have stuff like AP out there. But after having a chance to get it on my wrist one day and seeing it on wrist instead of pictures online. This might just be my next pick up, definitely recommend trying it out irl.

  • @bc8Sooners
    @bc8Sooners ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Beautiful watch for sure, but if you care about Gerald Genta heritage, then the modern options are just AP, Patek and IWC. (Seiko Locomotive didn't have a modern renewal).

    • @wornandwound
      @wornandwound  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are in the same ballpark for sure. I find the Inge dial and bracelet slightly better, but the Laureato nails the size and has a more prestigious movement (if you care about that). Inge should be in soon for a full review, but you can read my initial impressions right here: wornandwound.com/hands-onthe-genta-iwc-ingenieur-era-returns-with-new-automatic-40/ -BB

    Love it. Really wish I’d been in the watch game when the Arabic numerals model was sold. But just like the IWC, don’t see the price justification.
    I always laugh because as an American we have to hear Euros talk about our short term thinking - but endless examples like this where one of their companies thinks short term; sell this watch for less, get more of them out on watch lovers’ wrists, let word of mouth grow the fan base. Of course they won’t - they want to squeeze max profit out of each sale - enjoy being an also ran in the watch world.

    Girard Perregaux for me=Rolex OP and Grand Seiko 9SA5. In other words, it is over priced, no significant hand finishing on the movement, not as technologically advanced as Omega, Rolex or Grand Seiko. I also doubt if the hardware is better than that of a Rolex. They are using their Haute Horology chops to max out profits on the Laureto

    • @seaweed719
      @seaweed719 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I have a Rolex Datejust and a GP Laureato, and I can testify that Laureato has better overall finishing and build.

    How is this any different to modern day integrated watches which are ‘genta’ inspired. Would have been way better if genta had designed it but sadly not. I’d prefer to get a smaller (to be announced) CW 12 in titanium with cosc certification.
    Yea it’s not a genta watch but neither is this! And this is $14k lol!!!!

    • @marcn8750
      @marcn8750 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I celebrate that this is not another Genta design. The laureato was released in 1975. The nautilus in 1976. I like some Genta designs but not all of them. Just my POV, best wishes from Singapore Marc
