Bought my brother the sidar precon for his first deck, not even 50 bucks put into it he was slapping my group around like the rest of us were playing go fish or something. Dude goes nuts with double strike if left unchecked
Good timing brother! Just building a Tivit deck, and I totally slept on the voting mechanic! Was concentrating on the time sieve combo for extra turns. Keep on putting out the good work brother.
I'm loving Master of Keys but imo an underrated Esper commander is Raffine, Scheming Seer. Connive is such a sick mechanic, but really dont see much outside of Ledger. I feel like surveil kind of overshadowed it. But Raffine just lets you churn through your deck pretty efficiently.
Tivit slaps brother, one of my favorite things to do is to use cyberdrive awakener to turn all those clues and treasures into 4/4 flyers. Not to mention Academy manufacture triples the amount of tokens we make, such a versatile commander.
My brother is home for the holidays which means I’m playing against Marneus Calgar a lot these days. He plays my decks and that’s his favourite because he’s a huge 40k fan. I’ve improved on the precon a fair bit and he often makes me regret it. Gotta love to see it.
This takes me back. My friend built an Ertai deck back a few years back which was Merfolk kindred. I don't remember too much about it but I know it used Lullmage Mentor, who creates a 1/1 Merfolk token when you counter a spell. He also used Merrow Reejerey to untap Ertai whenever a Merfolk spell was cast/Stonybrook Angler which can also untap. Finally, to create Blue mana he used the Merfolk Sea Scryer. There was an enchantment he used that untapped each merfolk at the end of the turn. It was the best control deck I've seen in a while. Honestly, since Ixalan & the caverns set dropped, the deck probably would be even better if someone rebuilt it. There is also those kindred reanimation spells that reanimate all creature of the same type; that didn't exist when he had this.
Speaking of Esper, I still regret not buying a Zur before Duskmourn. Had my eye on it for a while before then, and figured it would go up maybe a dollar or two, but not nearly as much as it did. Had also been eyeing Sidar, so may go with them instead.
That's funny, but obviously he's casting everybody else's stuff and using the full rainbow of magic colors, even though he's clearly an Evil Wizard who's only been posing as a good guy
Esper is the Bestper! I want to build them all! I have Tivit. I mainly wanted to focus on voting, but of course I have a Time Sieve for when the game is going nowhere. All those extra voting cards help you gain a bunch of extra advantage. And there's a card that allows you to select how everyone votes for the entire turn that casts for one blue mana and draws a card! I abuse that with some of the really nasty ones and of course usually give myself all the treasures from Tivit. A lot of other cool options here. I have Marneus in one of my decks because of all the value he provides. Saruman really is tempting me to build him next. Ertai might find a home in the 99 of a deck of mine because he's sweet as well. Heck, even in the Saruman deck, he could be great
@bettercommander Thanks! Merry Christmas Nicky G, my Hyena brother from another mother! Thanks for the all the fun videos you make and all that you do!
I have a sidar jabari deck using the 9 Nazgul which are knights themselves, ringbearer stuff as well. Just a good a time. Thanks for the video Nicky G, merry Xmas brother
Another cool one I’ve recently started theorizing for is bane lord of darkness, he is pretty much the de facto clones commander being able to clone something, then have it die and either draw a card or put another clone into play for free
I dunno Saruman seems really interesting and potentially very powerful and I almost built it. My main hold up is it seems like it would be conducive to excessively complex board states/ decision trees ergo super long turns. I dunno just too much of a headache. I’ve been playing for over 20 years and I more and more appreciate not having to think as much when I play 😂😂😂
I went around the mill route and go for the copy enchantments. Watch them loose their minds drawing 21 whenever they cast a spell while you create 21 treasures every damn time.
Bro, *six* mana for most of these? In this economy? You gotta go low, brother. I've been rocking Wernog and Hargilde for a while now and oh my goodness they're so good. Wernog is very unassuming, allowing you to get 1+ clues every time he comes and goes. And once you have a mass amount of tokens you wake them up with a Rise and Shine effect and completely knock out the board.

Nice! Glad to be of help man.
Dude I love the art on Saruman so much
He's got some sweet art in this set.
Thank you brother. Esper is my jam and I spread it all over my toast like a its christmas morning. Happy holidays brother
Thanks! Love your videos brother
Dang, thanks brother.

Raffine is my favorite deck it’s my pride and joy
Raffine is probably my best deck and has gotten me through some rough games.

C-drive is nuts. Love that card

Yeah, unexpected creature type synergies are always a good time. I like merfolk too.

Always by the dip. Then dip your veggies my brother.
Saruman of Many (3) Colours.
That's many for an old man.
Three is a hard number to count to for some people
That's funny, but obviously he's casting everybody else's stuff and using the full rainbow of magic colors, even though he's clearly an Evil Wizard who's only been posing as a good guy
Happy Holidays, Nicky G.🎄
You too dude, Thanks for being here.
The best christmas gift i could have asked for! Your beautiful voice!
Ooh lala.
My glorious king Ertai has been mentioned!
Ertai's unite!
May the heavens bless that fine piece of metallic man!
Do they fit in my marneus calgar deck? Not really.. am I gonna use them? Hell yeah brother
Ertai is also VERY good with rule of law effects.
Bro….the jersey club? Perfect 👍
Inquisitor Greyfax for me. It was the best one at the time, and I was looking forward to having something which felt different than the others.
I play a TON of Saruman on Arena. Next to Geralf blue zombies it's probably my favorite deck on there.
You got a deck list?

I dig Bane. I like his style
Knights FTW brother! Merry Christmas from down under!
Down under what?
@bettercommander Australia, mate!
I'll send somebody to get you out.
Why it feel like Santa would be Esper?
Merry Christmas Nicky G! (G for GANGSTER.)
Yeah, he's good (white) gives gifts (blue) and breaks in to your domicile (black).
@@bettercommander uh...
@@bettercommander too fucking funny dood. spot on and fact based as always!
The thumbnail made me think 5 Esper commanders just got banned. Dashes don't really make sense if there is only one point 😄
That's my plan, disorient and confuse the enemy
Merry Christmas brother, I’m building a Mardu charge counter deck and have a slot for a pet card, love for you to pick one!
Swords to plow is a good one, lol
Freed from the real is AMAZING on ertai
Oh, of course.
Wub-a-wub for the dub-a-dub dub
Thanks brother.
@@bettercommander brother yer gonna make me cry
Not the first time I've heard that.

I definitely feel that. Keeping track of all the graveyards is a lot

Ha! Hell yeah dude. Bigger commanders tend to make for slower decks, or decks that function better with them in the zone.
