Nice review of a great disc. I bought it, popped it in the player, and pressed play. I haven't had a chance to go through the menus yet. It's interesting to see the Atmos setup menu that's available. I had no clue that it is on there.
So is it better then just having your receiver upmix the stereo version say from a good vinyl copy to atmos speaker configuration? I usually don't buy albums on other formats if I already own on vinyl. Edit: I listened to the 5.1 version on TH-cam music, and wow the song on the run was magical. I up mixed it, and the walking around 37 seconds went all around me. On vinyl it just goes side to side even 2hen up mixed. Not sure if you've listened to the 5.1 mix? If so, is the atmos mix even better?
Funny you mentioned it. I recently, mostly because of the Audyssey One calibration improvements to my system, chucked the disk in again to listen to it. I went through the various mixes and played with upmixing a lot. In the end, the upmix was good but doesn’t match the Atmos mix. Just so balanced. If you get the chance, there are Atmos mixes in Apple Music and Tidal on streamers like the Apple TV 4K or NVIDIA Shield that you can listen to. They are great and only lack a very small amount of fidelity over the Blu-ray version.
@@ReedBotwright nice. I was actually thinking of trying out amazon prime music HD. Apparently they have alot of Atmos content, and right now they are offering 3 months for free. But I am researching at the moment. But so far haven't found a way to actually see the library of available Atmos mixes for each provider. Also on a side note animals is getting a Atmos BluRay release soon.
@@ReedBotwright so I bit the bullet and got amazon music HD subscription, luckily it has 3 months for free. I have a fire cube 4k 2nd gen hooked up to my pioneer receiver, and although I only have 2 in ceiling height speakers for Atmos, wow this album is amazing. I will definately be buying this album again even though I have it on vinyl and will definately buy animals.when it releases in Atmos next month. Thanks for your time and this video. I guess I'm going to start collecting Atmos BluRay music now.
Yup! I think the intro screen is not/less sped up, but this is a direct review of a very recognizable piece so I wanted to make sure it stayed up. The disk sounds regular if you purchase it… 😁

Guilty as charged @Joe N Tell. More Fruit Loops than Cap N Crunch, methinks!
That sounded too fast. Have you sped up the audio to prevent copyright strike?

@@ReedBotwrightGlad you clarified that. Thought I was going mad. (I've always been mad.......)
