Searching For Mermaid's! | Wild Swimming (swim & sink)

- I embarked on a midweek adventure to try and find mermaids pool in the peak district. I set off after work so time was against me, after a bit of rambling and head scratching I finally found the infomous home of the mermaid.
Mermaid’s Pool is a small pool on Kinder Scout in Derbyshire, England, which, according to legend, is inhabited by a beautiful mermaid who can be seen if you look into the water at sunrise on Easter Sunday. It is also said that its water is salty due to its being connected by an underground passage to the Atlantic. Henry Kirke wrote a poem about a young man who drowned in the pool after he had fallen in love with her. I had no such luck but hopfully i'll find her on tinder one day.
Another version describes her rather as a nymph who lives on Kinder Scout, and who bathes in the pool daily. This version describes how a local man to whom she took a liking was led by her to a nearby cavern, and whom she made immortal. This promise of immortality is said to apply to anyone who sees the mermaid on Easter Eve.
All in all it was a great midweek adventure and one of the best sunsets I've seen in recent times.
*Warning* : If you are going to go dunk yourself in the mermaids pool be careful, it's extremely boggy so tread with caution!

Hey Bush Monkey Outdoors, lost my dad 5 years ago and whilst it does get easy as time goes on there will still be plenty of 'moments' when it hurts and you want to scream at the world. However, keep talking to him and keep him involved in what you do. I firmly believe there is a connection after they are gone and wouldn't it be cool to know on the other side that you kept him close to what is going on in your life. Most of keep making him proud of you. All the very best.
Just stumbled upon this while looking for videos on the Mermaid Pool for an upcoming trip and really enjoyed it! Your little section at the end on mens mental health was just good to hear (not from whatever reason it may be in your mind obviously) but as someone who has issues it feels good to know that other people are looking out for it too. Gosh I love Romania. It's the most incredible place. Horse and carts with EU number plates, a church with a stranglehold over the populous akin to something I associate with medieval Europe, and incredible art, particularly film and music. I'd say something vacuous like 'the people are amazing and so friendly', but people are beautiful and shit whever you are. They do like to drink though, and do it well.
