This is one of the most brilliantly conceived and designed shows the drum corps activity has ever seen. In Bluecoats' To Look for America, we see a traditional drum corps in parade formation playing to the stands in the 1950's, and then there's a coming of age. People in the stands switch places with the corps-- they become the performers-- the music becomes about them. Instead of the military industrial complex dominating the play space and mandating its content, the people in the stands take over. A little girl gets her balloon popped as she learns lessons of war and loss. A mix of couples redefine the family picnic. By the end, America is reinvented and free from the shackles of a corrupt, dominating culture of militarism.

People discredit this comment but it is 100% correct. Sure, the Bluecoats finally broke top 3 in 2010 but the next two years went backwards. 2010 was a flash in the pan. 2011 was meh. 2012 was fun to listen to but as a show was nothing mind-blowing. I remember seeing this show live so many times in 2013 and said that this was the FIRST corps to figure out the Blue Devils' recipe for a show. Up until this point, nobody could catch the consistency that the Devils had because nobody knew how to match their show writing. Bluecoats 2013 was the first show to figure it out. I knew there was no looking back at that point. And there hasn't been!!! So yes ...this WAS the turning point for the Coats.

People sleep on this show. It's really cool to listen and watch. Also I always forget, this show BOOKS. I swear they're playing while sprinting so much. Like at 2:39, opening impact of the show. You can see some of the euphs sprinting in the back of the horn block, and everyone's marching at 180 BPM!

It was an inside joke for the whole season. During TOC retreats someone would whistle it and it would be echoed throughout all the corps.

they're called vocals and they are used as a fun way to keep time when the line isn't playing. what they say is pretty much your interpretation of what you hear.
Tenor in the green shirt went from this to a 99.65 (not disrespecting this is one of my all time favorite bc shows)
