I hated clearing off the dining room table. It was always full of crap. Until I gave it to a friends daughter. She needed a table and we needed to use that area for a reading nook. Win win!
My son has ADHD and always struggled with holding on to stuff and over accumulating. Now he’s 23, and is a hoarder. He still has a pathway, but every surface is piled high. He’s not far from having a nonfunctional bedroom. He gets frustrated and angry because of it. Last night he finally picked some things to donate and is willing to start clearing out. I will help, and go at his pace. For years I have told him that life might be easier if he were more minimal. I learned that people with ADHD are at higher risk of hoarding. Hearing from someone who has ADHD that has a minimal home will be so helpful to our family.
Hoarding or being a “pack rat” was an issue of mine then I started my decluttering journey after years of my husband asking me to do it. But in my time I found my way to it. My oldest also is level 1-2 hoarder possibly. It takes time and a good example like you.
Glad you are getting back your mojo, and sticking around here. Missed you! Excited to see you so positive once again. This is the YOU I need to see in MY life. I love your honesty and your empathy for people. You make an exciting and positive reason to open my TH-cam app and check in. Blessings to you and your family…excited for your journey as well.
I'm working with this myself. Advice (something that works for me, maybe for your son, no guarantees): Try 'puttering'. Don't try to do a big ambitious swathe, just take 3 to 5 minutes to putter at the edges. Make the goal maybe a square foot of the clutter and toss/put away/clean that little space. If you feel like it, give in to doing a little more. Maybe a little more. Chances are, once you get started, you'll do more than you had planned. A few sessions of this, and a lot will get done. We all have that inner voice that argues with us before starting a big job. It lobbies for procrastination, is very creative with reasons to put it off or stop. But if you just do a tiny bit, just putter at the edge, that inner voice relents; it says, "Oh. That doesn't sound bad. At least you can say you're working on it; go ahead." And before long, the ADHD kicks in and you find it hard to drag yourself away, especially if you can really see some progress. You just have to game that inner resistance. Limit the expectations, the boundary of the task. See what happens.
I have ADHD and a mild brain injury. I grew up with a father who is a hoarder with ADHD & his Mom hoarded too. I really need to declutter and live as minimal as I can. My depression & anxiety is being treated but the clutter drives me crazy. I have chronic pain which makes it difficult to do cleaning. I'm sick of my hoarding lifestyle. Thank God you & others on TH-cam are sharing decluttering tips.
I was born in the ‘40s, so I lived through all those times, raised children, single working mom life, acute ADHD/acute ODD kids, now in this retired, empty nest season of life, I can focus on my own life. I have had the courage to remove myself from toxic people, reined in my out of control volunteering, learned to say NO. I’ve decluttered and live in a comfortable minimal-ish manner. I have created time for myself to do the things I love, art…. Without the burden of trying to sell or market my stuff. Your channel has inspired me, and given me the opportunity to share. This is precious to me. Thank you. Robyn, sometimes it is time to take your own advice and slow down to a life sustaining pace and enjoy what you do…. By the way, I’m also writing a book about life with my ADHD child…. Maybe I will actually finish it!
Wow! I found you through Dawn the “Minimal Mom!” And I am SO glad because your advice is absolute G.O.L.D!!! Thank you so much for being so brave, honest and relatable!!! And…thank you for the reminder we are all on this journey together. You’re a perfect angel. Hugs!😊
@@MinimalistHome Hey!! I’m so glad 😉 I TOTALLY appreciate your struggle with your fellas! Thank YOU 🙏 I only have 1 and he’s 21 annnnddd completely does not get me freaking out over something I’ve asked oh, idk maybe 1000 times and then, yeah, I’m psychotic when I have to ask him to do something 1001 times. I love him, he’s my son, and he’s a T1D, but an amazing guy. It’s great when they’re little, but even better when they grow up to be good people! Anyway, have an awesome day!!! I am a tea lover too, btw…😎
Just keep this channel as it’s always been: genuine. That’s all that matters. Oh, and there’s one thing I really miss, it’s seeing your lovely tea mugs at the beginning of the video and being invited to drink along - might sound stupid but it adds to the warmth of it all.
I have bipolar disorder, thank you for showing us that it's possible to maintain a simple and minimalist life even with these challenges that life send us.
I call it generational clutter. My Grandparents had stuff everywhere, my parents have a lot of stuff, and my sister and I both struggle with clutter. My ADHD is better when I have less stuff but it is so hard to keep the clutter at bay. I have made a commitment to break the cycle in my family so hopefully my kiddo will not struggle. I am currently making a big pass through our home and being a bit ruthless. My husband and I are making a big attempt to live simply and simplify our home to what is manageable and workable for us. I just discovered your channel and will definitely subscribe. I need the inspiration and motivation.
Love your bubbly and honest chat in this video❤ I've just subscribed & have a Q.. Besides 2nd hand shops or the internet groups, how can I get my boxes to people who could benefit from my on-going decluttering excess goodies?
I don't blame you for switching back to one channel. I love how you incorporate tips for decluttering and simplifying life for people with ADHD etc . I've never been diagnosed, but I've always been *extremely* easily distracted.
Ditto Lorrene! Not sure I could even manage a TH-cam channel, let alone Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all the other things. Doubling it could mean the end for me ! 😊 I say do what you need to do for *you*. We'll catch up. 😁 I was finally diagnosed with ADHD in my mid-40s when I decided to go to college. I'm a longtime minimalist and yet I still love watching shows like yours and learning new things all the time. Maintenance is a whole lot easier than the initial declutters but a little encouragement never hurts & keeps your life from reverting. It also keeps you from feeling quite so alone if you are the only minimalist you know & can find in your area. Thanks for hanging in there!! 🎉😍
Decorations. I used to have “regular time” decorations, then seasonal and holiday decorations. I’ve decluttered it so intensely but still struggle with what I have, how to store it, deciding what stays and what goes. There are feelings of “I’m not a good house wife or hostess any more if I get rid of things that made my house lovely and seasonal.”
I just subscribed to your channel last night after watching Genius decluttering Advice. This is the second episode I’m watching and so glad your consolidating your channels…..YES your right more is NOT better, minimalism is for all area’s of our lives! I’ve been on the minimalism journey for a year. I got burned out trying to do to much to fast. Now I’m on the slow but steady. I’m looking forward to watching more of your content! I’m glad you’re paring down. After all it’s a minimalist channel 😂 😂
Yes, I have downsized to a small apartment 4 years ago and have finally begun to declutter. It feels wonderful! Have my bedroom to do yet. Be gone stuff I no longer need or use. Hello space & peace of mind. 💗💐🌷💗
You are so fun, one of my favorite channels because of your humor and how chatty you are. So much better than the channels that play repetitive music over and over again.
My son (22) has it and so do I. Knowing that hoarding is a symptom explains so much for us! We're trying to downsize to move and he and I are seriously holding the move up because we are so overwhelmed! Thank you for giving me hope!! ❤
So glad you’re staying on this channel. I’m a retired ER nurse who never struggled with clutter before. Now I have free time and struggle. Decision fatigue is a big problem. I’ve asked my husband to help, but he’s afraid to comment. I can’t be alone here with decision problems I’m sure. Love the channel. The humor and great tips!
What helped me most was learning about Executive Functioning. I had been telling myself I was lazy up until that point and that kind of negative self-talk is not helpful. I'm sure even people with neurotypical brains can struggle with some of those skills. For example, perfectionists can often have trouble with Task Initiation. There's lots you can cover, interweaving the ADHD aspects from your personal experience.
I totally agree. Decluttering isn't just about the physical things in life. I have a few projects that I need/want to do, but my plate has been full, doing videos. I decided to cut back, in order to make room...and then I added two short-term video commitments. I don't regret them, but it further delayed my progress in getting my other necessary projects done. I'm keeping my video commitments, one is finished already, but I am cutting my regular video schedule back to one video per week until I get my projects done. That's what I would tell someone else to do, so why was it so hard for me to do it for myself? I know I can't do it all. Something had to go. I felt so much better after making the decision. I let my viewers know in my video yesterday, and they were very supportive. I think we're afraid of letting others down if we do less, even if it's to make room for other things we need to do. But maybe we let ourselves and others down by NOT doing less when we have spread ourselves too thin. We struggle to be our best when we are over-extended. Thank you for leading by example. That's what I'm trying to do too. 🤗🌷💕
Hello Robyn. I came across your channel last night and I'm so glad I did. Watching you has helped me realise that my 'behaviour' is definitely wandering around in the ADHD world. You also gave me a lightbulb moment when trying to figure out the focus of my attachment to the clutter in my house - I'm trying to fulfil what I assume I need by trying to hang on to my children's pasts. This was underlined this morning when I was clearing out a cupboard in the kitchen (yes, actually trying to do some decluttering 😂). I came across a lovely large bowl that I've had for years. It's a cherry red, acrylic bowl which looks gorgeous with sunlight shining through it, and it is something I have held onto for years despite not having a place for it or even using it. I realised that the memory of it being on the kitchen windowsill of the family home when the children were young was my connection with it. It was a noticeable item in that room and really shone in that space. But. my children are now in their 20's and not living at home, and I've been divorced for 12 years. I suddenly realised that I can never 'recreate' that time or space again ... and nor should I try to by hanging onto things just because of their aesthetic potential. My space is now mine and I need to find what makes me comfortable and happy, not try to arrange or decorate my home for my grown up children. I know it sounds like that should have been a simple thing for a grown woman to realise but the clutter in my brain is kinda difficult to negotiate and I think I've been balancing on a tight rope of coping for a long time, trying to be 'normal' (what the hell is that anyway?). Anyway, thank you for doing your channel - and I agree that you're making a good decision with pulling the focus into one thing rather than spread yourself way too thin over many spaces. You need your own journey to be supportive not stressful. All the best 💗
Thank you for keeping this channel! I have ADHD and my husband was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s Disease. A simplified house is critical for us. However, we married later in life and merging two households has been challenging to say the least. I’m doing what I can as he cannot really help. I no longer have the same energy I had 20 years ago so the decluttering is going slowly. But, I work on it everyday even if’s only for five minutes and trash is the only thing I’ve decluttered for the day. My husband is beginning to see a difference! 😃🎉 I’m also incorporating Swedish Death Cleaning because I only want to live with things that serve a purpose or bring true happiness to us. We have both lost our parents in the last ten years and dealing with their stuff has been overwhelming. Most of it went to donations or the burn pile. We do not want to burden our kids with boxes and closets of random “just in case” junk.
Thank YOU! I have been "gone" for at least 7 mo's as my personal life changed drastically. I am now single after 14.5 years- this is a good thing- and slowly getting back to things like decluttering that I had no band width for. I was looking for old 'friends' in this sphere and your dear face popped up in my mind. I went to my old youtube list and there you were, so I have resubcribed and now have the pleasure of catching up with you. Thank you again for still being here 🎉❤
"Life is so amazing." Yes! Such a gift. Thank you for sharing your life with us. ❤ Your home has so much light. And I love that you're sitting in your greenhouse 🌱
I have severe arthritis in my lower back and in my knees. The left knee should also be a TKR due to a meniscus tear years ago the just keeeps getting worse. I'm also 71 and because I sit so much due to pain, my endurance is very low. I can't get down on my hands and knees and scrub under the sink. I wish I could. I plan to clelan under the bathroom sink with the floor mop. That's what I'd like to see. Alternatives to standing a long time and shorter bursts of cleaning/decluttering. Shorter bursts or 'here and there' work better with my ADHD.
I feel your passion. I've had people comment how spacious my little house is, in a good way. I've had people offer to give me some of their things because they say I have the counter space for it. I tell them that I have counter space because I keep stuff off of it. One close friend has caught the vision and is in the process of decluttering. I am so happy for her. Congratulations on your decision for keeping one channel. Less is more and you can help plenty of people on this one.
I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and have always struggled with the cleaning and organizing so I was so happy to find you last week and you have already helped. I think just combing topics and have it all on one channel
Decluttering with ADHD. I have such a hard time completing house projects. I use the timer method and chunck things down, but there’s still always so much to do. How about videos where you declutter with the viewers, or suggest we go do something, or where we can come back to the video when we’re ready to do a certain area. You could do a whole house! (Body-doubling may be the term??) This may at least help people/me get started on something, and maybe even finish! Thanks for all you do!!❤
My son is on the Autistic spectrum and is a hoarder. I am a hoarder by nature but your videos are helping massively. I used to be a nurse and felt the overwhelm of long shifts and chaotic house. I live on my own with my 2 kids and would love a more simplified house. Never stop dancing, dancing is my favourite ❤
I'm here for all the tips! I love your energy. I have ADHD and decluttering has been the best thing for me on keeping my house semi ok! Here for all the encouragement to declutter and regulate what I can handle 😊
Blessings to you. I found two of your decluttering messages today. I’m moving and striving not to take unnecessary clothes, things, paperwork etc into my new home. You are doing amazing and I’m glad you are recalibrating and keeping it real!
I hardly have time to comment but your videos have added so much value to my life. I am starting the process of decluttering…I am a stay at home mom and haven’t decluttered the whole house in 9 years! I am trying not to lose my mojo and your videos help me so much and make me laugh :) thanks for being the wonderful person you are…and you are inspiring me as a mother too! Cuz you are such a great mom!! Great job living life and helping people 🎉❤
I got exhausted just listening to all that you have going on. Good for you for paring down, that's taking care of yourself. I don't have ADHD, but a family member does, so it's interesting to me to hear how it affects daily life. Me, I'm just continuing to look at my stuff and see how I can weed out things, so I love your tips, I love your humor and personality, you're a joy to watch :)
Just found your channel and everything you said struck a chord with me! I need to remove so much stuff from my life! I mean a LOT because I'm 72 and have retired from thrifting and finding treasures which was a fun and exciting hobby for years but then the reality of ....... the clutter. Oh my. Boxes of treasures which have mostly been re-donated to St. Vincent's or Goodwill yet there are still way too many boxes remaining. At least the accumulation has been whittled down. So now I will watch your videos as I try to reduce and redistribute :) Thanks for your honesty and joyfulness! New sub.
We pulled our kids out of school and homeschooled them . Within a few months, even weeks all four were able to get their school done. I think the main difference was my boys had plenty of time to p!ay instead of being cooped up in a classroom. All four have college degrees and are doing great at their jobs. We all just do the best we can.
I've got some physical challenges and my home is a wreck with too much stuff. I've never been diagnosed with ADHD but my brother has and I"m very much like him. I've already figured out that becoming a minimalist is probably the best thing for me. I'm already decluttering and have been trying to minimize but it is a process, very slow going. I do feel better with what I've done so far. I've subscribed today. I pretty much know what to do, just need support, motivation, some tips, ideas, humor.
you help more then you know, .My daughter is 38 ( diagnosed4 yrs ago with ADHD) with 2 children is a military wife, living on base 5.5 hrs away. I use to hear her struggles, and I see how much she has improved since purging most of her stuff. I want that, I want my house always ready for a visitor , I want to read a book sit on my deck come summer and not feel guilty because I should be cleaning, sorting ,purging. Everything you have talked about has helped ME very much.
The Secret Slob always says, "progress, not perfection" - We live in our homes so messy it can get, but can be quickly "company" ready! I love your enthusiasm about decluttering our homes - it inspires me to get up and get going!! God bless you and yours!
I am so happy that I just found you today. I think I will definitely be watching your past videos including the ADHD videos. I think I may have ADHD. Never diagnosed but everything I see and hear people say about themselves I find myself nodding along like, yes. That's me. I have been actually decluttering my house this year and the little I have done has been a huge improvement. My daughters' rooms and my room (although I still have not reached my clutter threshold in my room yet) have been mostly done. And I've done a bit in the kitchen. I have one cleared counter and a clear sink. I sent a picture to my sister and commented that I'm not even expecting company and the counter is clear. My oldest daughter decluttered her clothes and now does her own laundry. She says that it's not so bad when she doesn't have to fold laundry for days. So she's getting it too. I look forward to seeing more of your videos and learning more. I grew up in the 70s and 80s and accumulating stuff was definitely a thing. And not letting it go just in case. I've begun to get ruthless with throwing things away and getting it out of the house. I can't wait until I get through the house. I know that I will be so much happier and less grumpy. Thanks again. I'm a new subscriber as of right now!!
Thank you for being so down to earth!! I was getting overwhelmed with keeping up with channels that I wanted to catch. I was picking one and then not seeing the other and thinking did I miss something important. I'm glad to be back to one. I am so happy that you did that for yourself too!!!
I love seeing you and your smiling face. I’ve got many ADHD family members and myself. It makes life tricky. But we find ways to manage. Keep doing what you do, we love you!
Diagnosed with ADHD at 42 and 10 years later I’ve been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder as well. They go hand in hand for a lot of autistic people. The biggest help for myself and my ADHD husband was to declutter. It’s messy a lot but it takes way way WAY less time to get things back in order. So thankful. I still need to do more. And side note: didn’t even know you had an adhd channel. 🤷🏻♀️👍🏻🥰
Robin, I think you are making a good choice. There are several good TH-camrs out there who address minimalism as a way of life, but your perspective as a person with ADHD is a huge blessing to me and others who have ADHD or are looking to be supportive of a friend or family member who has ADHD. And the fact that you can communicate with fun and humor and positivity is an added bonus!! Thank you so much for being so open about the things that cause you to become overwhelmed and how you take time to pause and question what is overwhelming you and why it is overwhelming you and the adjustments you make to get back to a more manageable state. You have helped me tremendously with your example!! 🥰
Books for myself and my ADHD son are a huge problem at our house. Piles of books are everywhere in his room. Mine are in crates and bins in my closet and every nook and cranny. I can’t part with classics and my son re-reads so many of his books. He won’t try an e-reader. He’s only 10 so maybe in the future he will? Meanwhile, how do I help him let go of books he still reads?
Im so happy to have found you and your channel! I struggle with mealplanning w whats in the deep freezer and making leftovers into second chances that my family doesnt even know about:) To save money and my sanity and time. I just bought an instant pot and am still learning the secrets of that too. I work in my corporate garage in customer service and are raising three kids with my husband who works so hard for our family too. I have been a survivialist for so long that I want to start shedding my excess stuff, worries of stuff and the what if.... I need simplicty and I want to be able to enjoy a simple and happy home. Im literally grabbing trash bags and taking loads to goodwill- I watch your channel almost everyday which helps me feel motivated to get decluttering- why do i believe in so many lies that I have to keep this stuff, just in case we have another crisis, loss of another job, etc. Fear sucks. Thankful for you!
I appreciate your channel. Not only do I learn things for myself, but my husband has adult ADHD, and I gain insights into why he is the way he is. In the past I thought it was just character flaws, but I have learned it isn't, and learned through you how better to deal with his particular situations. He also holds onto things, so decluttering is a motivation for solving some of that. He is slow going to get tasks done, but he is trying to do the task as perfectly as possible. I give him excuses to move on - such as, "Now the new floor you laid will have character!" and "I don't think anyone will notice that mistake/inconsistency/flaw." or "it looks so much better now." So what if things aren't perfect! Neither ae we! I also try to remember to praise his work, because he doesn't always see his work as good or good enough. I never knew that. I get satisfaction out of my own jobs well done, so I thought he felt the same way, but, no, he can't say the same. He needs to hear it from someone else. I'm glad you thought to combine all your internet activities into one channel. Have you ever wandered into a grocery store for one item, and on your way found several more things you needed? And since you came in for one item, you didn't pick up a cart or basket? You're juggling your items as you walk through the store to the check-out counter. Then they are popped into a bag, and you easily walk out of the store, bag in hand. Streamline - it makes more sense, and helps you focus on ONE instead of many. And what a relief that is.
I’ve never been diagnosed but I’m 99% sure I have ADHD. I love watching you because I feel we share very similar personalities. I’ve been decluttering for over a year and it’s so hard to stay focused. I also have three kiddos. One with ADHD and one with ASD and ADHD. Life gets crazy on its own let alone trying to get your house together on top of it all. Thank you for your videos. So glad to see you loving life and doing what’s best for you.
Thank you! I ran across your channel today. I’m an almost retired attorney who was diagnosed with ADHD at 60. I’m now 71 and living with so much clutter.. physically and mentally and emotionally. A week ago diagnosed with BP 190/104! I need your help to get out from under this!!!!
Well said Robyn! I enJOY your content on minimalism and ADHD. I personally do not have ADHD but live with 3 people who do. I would like to see and hear more about how to maintain our minimalist lifestyle. It is a daily decision to live in such a way and I am always trying to sharpen my skills. Thank you for what you do.
I have been watching you (and other "declutterers") for awhile now for help and inspiration. I love your style, transparency, and straight forward honesty. I wanted to thank you and encourage YOU as you help US. It's a win-win!
This is your best video yet. Very relatable. You don't always have to be funny to get your message across successfully. I really appreciate you and what you are doing to help people. I personally have difficulty with the tiny things (I might need that item some day ). Plus I wonder if I feel proud by coming up with the very thing to help someone repair or adjust an item. These tiny things in my home represent so many decisions in my day. I find it exhausting. I would love you to focus on that aspect if you possibly could. It would be appreciated. Thank you from Australia.
Good question! I know someone who used to sell car parts that were harder to get. But then he ended up with too many parts and too many other jobs. Now there is a HUGE amount of stuff that could be turned into some money, but it is stored and inaccessible. And the many decisions of the day are overwhelming.
Robyn, thank you for sharing. I think it would be great to have the one channel and deal with ALL of it on that one channel. I tend towards perfectionism and clutter because of it. I have gained so much from your channel, I am blessed to have found you! I have never been diagnosed with ADHD but I can relate to some of the behaviors so your tips has really helped. Thank you for keeping this channel.😊 I love your greenhouse! That is something i wish I had actually. I like tinkering about with plants. I wish you continued success! Have a blessed week.❤❤
Thank you for sharing all this. Your sincerity shines through. I would really enjoy learning more about how minimalism can enhance mindfulness and help folks live more intentionally, especially in the context of ADHD:) thanks
I was diagnosed with ADHD two weeks ago…I’m 53! Struggling to figure out how to make changes to make my life easier! I’m new to your channel and looking forward to learning from you 😊
I so agree with you about the benefits of "neutral" experiences, where something that weighed you down is now a non-issue and you're just enjoying the space, people, etc. Thanks for your encouragement. You really are helping people!👍
Thank you for your inspiration and valuable time to share your thoughts. Would love to see how to get the whole family on board with the decluttering/simplifying lifestyle. Thank you for all you do and keep on keepin' it real!❤
Fantastic video Robyn! Love the frank, honest talk. I am already a minimalist. I watch your channel because i like your upbeat , funny vibe and i like seeing a good decluttering session and before and afters. From a fellow RN from Ontario.
Your perspective has helped me and my house a lot. I like that you are real about working and parenting responsibilities, while also having fun getting life more balanced at home. Your videos are fun to watch and I'm always inspired to clean something which is generally a weakness for me. Plus I'm learning more about ADHD and our environment which I needed.
🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️ your course was such a blessing to me last year. I was also diagnosed with ADHD last year too! After I had my twins I was soooooo disorganized and life was unfamiliar and hectic. Then I found Fly Lady and then my world started calming down. Was so glad to find you too after I had a death in the family and had gotten disoriented again. You are contributing so much value to the world. I appreciate you and the community you’ve created ✨🌸✨💜
Great video. Found you thru Minimal Mom's channel. I struggle with two things: Paperwork and clothes. The main thing about clothes is that I work outside the home, so to pare it down like Dawn to 13 or so items is not feasible. But, my closet is still packed and it is frustrating.
Hey Ron! Even if you pared your clothing down to 26 or so items, you’d probably have a lot less. Are you wearing all of the clothes you are keeping? If you do, do you like everything you keep? Does all of it fit well?
I am 44 and was diagnosed last month. I like all of your content and will happily watch it - one channel or two - I do not need them broken up because it’s all mixed together for me, too. And 100% on living through the 80s and 90s: Accumulation as goal Dropping price of goods Increased disposability of goods Larger spaces and the storage industry boom Finding our enough has never been harder - even for those who are neurotypical. ♥️
Love your video! I definetly also got some ADHD traits and decluttering is something I'm working on and struggeling with a lot. My mom was born just at the end of WW2 and accuulates A LOT. I find it very hard to part with things, even though I know it feels much better to have lest mental load, less distraction in the visible field. Eveything I see out of place is like an accusal of my not getting shit together. I found your channel just recently (did not know about the other one). I love the way you speak and can relate a lot. I also opened up a second business profile on IG in januarry and regretted it pretty much right away, but have not yet the guts to shut it down alltogether.
We're 4 of 4 with ADHD in my house and It's alot to manage. It's gotten a little easier as my kids have gotten older but I still haven't found a decent way to redirect either my kid's or husband's focus when they are tunneling out or sleep walking.
I absolutely love you Robyn!! I just recently discovered you on TH-cam. You are so dynamic and fun to watch. You keep things so real and are amazingly funny. I am working through a recent move where a lot of decluttering was done, some donated and some left for new homeowner who shared the same Victorian taste! We still carted off a lot of things that need to be gone through. You motivate me to keep on task. I know my husband and I will be sooo much happier with soooo much less stuff!!! Keep up your great work!! You are a true shining star and people need to hear what you have to say and demonstrate. 😊😘
Hey Robyn all of us whether we have ADHD or not are on a journey, and often we make many twists and turns before we settle in and find our aha moment of what we want to do. I thinks its perfectly normal and those who get inspiration and encouragement from you (like me) will always follow you. Much love from your "neighbor" in Washington!
I hated clearing off the dining room table. It was always full of crap. Until I gave it to a friends daughter. She needed a table and we needed to use that area for a reading nook. Win win!
Absolutely! Love that!
"I am not leaving until I help you." That really touched me. We should all say that more often.
Oh thank you!
Yes they are at higher risk! Isn’t that interesting! Hoping he can make a healthy change
Advice (something that works for me, maybe for your son, no guarantees):
Try 'puttering'.
I love to learn about the psychology behind holding on to stuff and letting go of stuff. Thank you, Robin!
Thank you Rachel!
Love the decluttering content! It was nice to see your greenhouse. Any gardening content is also welcome.
Thanks Lynn!
Thanks Linda!
Wow! I found you through Dawn the “Minimal Mom!” And I am SO glad because your advice is absolute G.O.L.D!!! Thank you so much for being so brave, honest and relatable!!! And…thank you for the reminder we are all on this journey together. You’re a perfect angel. Hugs!😊
Dang Lisa!! What a great way to start my day, thanks!!!
@@MinimalistHome
Hey!!
Just discovered your channel today. Thank you for being a person who is transparent. A true breath of fresh air in this world.
Thank you Christine!
Just keep this channel as it’s always been: genuine. That’s all that matters. Oh, and there’s one thing I really miss, it’s seeing your lovely tea mugs at the beginning of the video and being invited to drink along - might sound stupid but it adds to the warmth of it all.
Not stupid, comforting. 😊
I have bipolar disorder, thank you for showing us that it's possible to maintain a simple and minimalist life even with these challenges that life send us.
Thank you for staying on this channel!! You DO HELP so much! Those of us without ADHD need you too. 😊
Sooooo true, generational clutter
Love your bubbly and honest chat in this video❤ I've just subscribed & have a Q..
Besides 2nd hand shops or the internet groups, how can I get my boxes to people who could benefit from my on-going decluttering excess goodies?
I don't blame you for switching back to one channel. I love how you incorporate tips for decluttering and simplifying life for people with ADHD etc . I've never been diagnosed, but I've always been *extremely* easily distracted.
Thank you Lorrene! I am SO distractible too
Ditto Lorrene!
Maintenance is a whole lot easier than the initial declutters but a little encouragement never
hurts & keeps your life from reverting.
After all it’s a minimalist channel 😂
😂
Thanks Anna!
Yes, I have downsized to a small apartment 4 years ago and have finally begun to declutter. It feels wonderful! Have my bedroom to do yet. Be gone stuff I no longer need or use. Hello space & peace of mind. 💗💐🌷💗
That’s wonderful Judy!
You are so fun, one of my favorite channels because of your humor and how chatty you are. So much better than the channels that play repetitive music over and over again.
Oh thank you!
-ADHD human
-Special interest:plants / organizing/ minimalism
-switched jobs to reduce stress
-kids with ADHD
LOVE your content!!!!
Thanks!! Always nice to meet a fellow nurse
You helped me just seeing your uncluttered house! I'm doing taxes and liked your calming home!
Oh thank you! I hope it helps make doing taxes more enjoyable
I absolutely agree! EF knowledge is very helpful. Thanks Jenny
You ARE fun and funny. Love the decluttering aspect of your channel and how it helps our mental health. Thanks for doing what you do!
Thank you so much HawkStrong!
I struggle with the intersection of giving myself less to do and give of myself and people pleasing. I am working so hard to not be a people pleaser.
And Melinda you do a fantastic job, just as Robyn does! 😁❤️❤️
@@cinderellafan362436 Thanks, my sweet friend. I'm so grateful for you.

Thank you so much for sharing and helping all of us. You're an inspiration to me ❤
Thanks Johanna!
Thank you Emmelia! Yes, I love life!
I like how you have found solutions to your problems!!
Thanks for all you do!!❤
Good to know that it didn’t happen overnight- appreciate that!! Going on year 2, and I too am happy!! Lol
Oh my gosh, I am SO glad that this helps
I'm here for all the tips! I love your energy. I have ADHD and decluttering has been the best thing for me on keeping my house semi ok! Here for all the encouragement to declutter and regulate what I can handle 😊
Absolutely Kari!! I agree! Thanks for the kind words too!
What do I want to see more of? You dancing at top speed! 💃I had to watch at slow speed to see what your moves look like in real time, LOL. Awesome!
So glad this channel is going to continue! Thank you!
Blessings to you. I found two of your decluttering messages today. I’m moving and striving not to take unnecessary clothes, things, paperwork etc into my new home. You are doing amazing and I’m glad you are recalibrating and keeping it real!
You are amazing! This is the channel you belong on. You’ve been a great help to me!
Thanks Beth
Robin, I love you! And I love your videos. I feel like I learn a lot here. Keep Dancing!💃
Thanks so much Joyce!
Great job living life and helping people 🎉❤
This was SUCH a great comment to read. Thank you!!
Thanks so much!
I ❤ your channel. You are honest, inspiring and hilarious. You are my constant companion as I declutter. Thanks for all you do. 🇦🇺
Thank you Lynne!
You made me SO happy when you said , let’s go to the greenhouse ..my very happy place ❤
Awww, thanks Susie!
I like watching content about simplifying. I like seeing the process and decision-making.
New sub.
Thank you!
I love to see decluttering and minimalism inspiration but I didn’t know you started out with gardening! I’d love to see a little of that mixed in!
It can be hard Andrea, you can keep holding the line
you help more then you know, .My daughter is 38 ( diagnosed4 yrs ago with ADHD) with 2 children is a military wife, living on base 5.5 hrs away.
Ooooh Rita!! You will get there. What a very nice message. Thank you! I needed that today ❤️
The Secret Slob always says, "progress, not perfection" - We live in our homes so messy it can get, but can be quickly "company" ready! I love your enthusiasm about decluttering our homes - it inspires me to get up and get going!! God bless you and yours!
I love that quote so much. I remember my grandma saying it years ago as well! Thank you!
Aww, thank you!
Haha, I guess it didn’t show up for many people. I’m glad that decluttering has helped you! It’s been amazing for us!
Robin,
I think you are making a good choice.
All that "mess" you showed us, can be cleand in few minutes, and that is great about minimalizm. ❤
indeed!! Thanks Tomasz
So happy you consolidated! It’s nice to follow on one account.
I also struggle with adhd its definitely hard managing a home but decluttering has saved me keep being strong mamma
I agree!!
Thank you, Robyn. As an ADHD’r, I appreciate this video. I like ideas and focus on decluttering with an eye on neurosensitive ppl.
Thank you for your honesty and for realizing the things that overwhelm you. You're making great progress and I love your channel!
So recognisable. I do not have ADHD but do have multiple channels which I want to molt into one ;-) I am decluttering in real life as online !
Thank you! I ran across your channel today. I’m an almost retired attorney who was diagnosed with ADHD at 60. I’m now 71 and living with so much clutter.. physically and mentally and emotionally. A week ago diagnosed with BP 190/104! I need your help to get out from under this!!!!
Baby steps, start small, one drawer at a time, you can do this!
Thank you Mischael!
I have been watching you (and other "declutterers") for awhile now for help and inspiration. I love your style, transparency, and straight forward honesty. I wanted to thank you and encourage YOU as you help US. It's a win-win!
Thank you MJ!
I have rid my house of so much stuff! It's a wonderful, beautiful thing! Definitely makes me want to dance at how much easier cleaning is!
Yes!! I love this Nicky!
I’m new to your channel and looking forward to learning from you 😊
Thanks for the truth / straight talk!!
I love your honesty! I’d like more videos on project/hobby clutter, “what if” clutter, and clutter in your home that doesn’t belong to you
And I so wish I had a greenhouse! I have seedlings growing in my bedroom.😂
I so agree with you about the benefits of "neutral" experiences, where something that weighed you down is now a non-issue and you're just enjoying the space, people, etc. Thanks for your encouragement. You really are helping people!👍
Thank you Sharon! You are so kind!
Thank you for your inspiration and valuable time to share your thoughts. Would love to see how to get the whole family on board with the decluttering/simplifying lifestyle. Thank you for all you do and keep on keepin' it real!❤
Thank you Kimberly!
Take time for YOU and your family ♡ We're here when you're feeling up to it. I have felt the same, just overwhelmed.
Thank you Lawain!
Fantastic video Robyn! Love the frank, honest talk. I am already a minimalist. I watch your channel because i like your upbeat , funny vibe and i like seeing a good decluttering session and before and afters. From a fellow RN from Ontario.
Thanks so much Suzie! My RN friend
You are so genuine. Girl you have me in tears right now 🥰
❤️
Your perspective has helped me and my house a lot. I like that you are real about working and parenting responsibilities, while also having fun getting life more balanced at home. Your videos are fun to watch and I'm always inspired to clean something which is generally a weakness for me. Plus I'm learning more about ADHD and our environment which I needed.
Thanks Renee!
Lakia!!! I was looking for your comment, but lost it! Thanks SOOOOOO much for the nice words! I hope you are doing well
@@MinimalistHome doing WELL. Hope you are too! Love getting all your emails.
The decluttering pep talks are great.
Helping you help others
Oh thank you Jennifer!!
And 100% on living through the 80s and 90s:
Accumulation as goal
Dropping price of goods
Increased disposability of goods
Larger spaces and the storage industry boom
Finding our enough has never been harder - even for those who are neurotypical.
♥️
Thanks so much Rebecca!!
I don't have ADHD but I love your decluttering videos. They always have such wonderful humor in them.😊
Thank you Debra!
You’re such a good soul😌
OMG right??
We're 4 of 4 with ADHD in my house and It's alot to manage. It's gotten a little easier as my kids have gotten older but I still haven't found a decent way to redirect either my kid's or husband's focus when they are tunneling out or sleep walking.
Isn't it something with a house full of ADHD? Thanks Colleen!
Oh you are so kind!!!
That’s for sharing and being honest. ❤
Thank you for sharing your experience. Your content is so good.
I was thinking you must be "spread thin" just now. But it's something I think we have to realise ourselves. Sending you lots of love xxxxxxxxxx
Thank you so much Debbie! I enjoy you always showing up!
I love this. I love your content. You’re doing great! ❤
Thanks so much sweet Jean!
