Quite a few of those rides I've never ridden. That Radar, Heart Flip, & Tip Top I have never ridden, or let alone, see in person. Maybe one day. I have been lucky enough to ride quite a few Sky Divers here and there, Sky Wheels (when I see them) & Rock-o-Planes & Loop-o-Planes. I've never ridden a Chance Turbo either, hopefully so one day. I remember Strates' Huss Tri Star. That's one I haven't ridden either & would be rare to see one now days.
I remember growing up when my dad was travelling with bluff city shows running the ground mount scrambler when it still had the gas engine on it and the octopus (or "puss" as everyone at the time called it) had a purple ball head the guy running it at the time was called "speedy" good times for sure. I miss "pops" and the show but I haven't been anywhere near their route in decades and im sure all of the people I knew as a kid are long gone from the show
good seeing a Zipper and Scat still running we used to have one at the Campbell Mo. peach fair when Star Amousement had the same kinda zipper and scat like Bluff City Shows but thay was falling apart there rides where im glad theaes rides are still in good shape and still running for Bluff City Shows :D
I love when midways looked and sounded like this. So much activity going on! The rides are great, also. Today’s carnivals and fairs just aren’t the same. Where was this videotaped at?
OMG, my dad was traveling with bluff city shows when i was a kid, i always wondered what happened to pops, speedy and the rest of the old crew from way back then. it was speedy who taught me how to run the octopus :D
Grandpa passed back on May 2014. Dugan and Gin are currently running things. I've been with little Doogie the last seven years. speedy was gone before I got out here.. not sure what happened to him
yeah there are so any fond memories especially of the gas pwered scrambler that dad ran ( the memories make me want to own one LOL). by the vids it looks like some things have changed, there was no chance radar back when dad was travelling with them, the "puss" was black and purple with a ball shaped "head". i will always have a fondness for the carnival, only thing that would be better is one day getting a piece of land and setting up some rides on it like a carny museum :D
I wanna say this video is from the 90s. At least it seems like it to me cause of the way the cars look. I've asked Dad before and he said it is old but I don't remember if he said how old. I know they've had the Raven parked at WQs for a while though. Now the puss is orange and that is what Little Doogie use to run before we left the show.
yeah back in the late 70's early 80's there was no chance radar/raven, in fact i only remember 2 rides at WQ and they were a ground mount mumboer car and another one that the tubs were fixed to the sweeps with very thick and heavy cable and i always assumed it was REALLY old due to the design and how the tubs attached to the sweeps to which i remember asking "pops" once about it and he said that was the way it was made ( designed). although it could never be used on the road for modern safety reasons it would be nice to see it operating ( which i have always thought a fully functioning operating ride museum would be cool idea, or maybe a travelling ride museum, however this would limit the age of rides and types of rides because you would have to take items that could be ridden and are up to safety standards
The date on the footage is wrong. The glass house at 5:45 is mine and by 2000 it had a slide on the second story. *smiles* Just thought you should know.

That Raven was mine and my dad's I rebuilt and painted and rewired it every piece on it was took apart and reworked it. That was in like 94 to 98 or so. this still has the paint job I put on it . We bought and traded Delmar for it ..got it running and then traded or sold back to Delmar.
I was thinking the same thing when I read the date as being 2000, it looks and sounds more like the late 1980s or early 90s. All of the music playing on the grounds is from the 80s. The film La Bamba came out in 1987 and that song can be heard on here.

Its no longer running, Its sitting at the shows WQ, which I believe is in Missouri.
It is still at WQs in Missouri. it needs a full hydraulic replacement before it can run again..
