  • I will attempt to livestream from my freshly installed Fedora Jam, a version of Fedora geared toward multimedia production. I will be streaming using OBS with NVENC and using the Jack audio server. What are the odds that I got everything right? Only way to find out is to watch! :D

Nice video , Thank you for letting me know this distro is the only one that installs my sound card right away and with jack install. I have an RME HDSP 9632 sound card.
I tried all the main distros and never got it installed.
    You are the best.
    Keep the good work

I knew about "Fedora Jam" as it were, back in the early 2000s(2003-2004). It was still Redhat Linux and the packages were called Planet CCRMA or some such, that was a Redhat addon repo for all things AUDIO and MIDI for Redhat Linux and RPM based distros. For SUSE LINUX which was my favorite until I discovered MX17 Linux, had PACMAN repo for all things audio and media.. There was some media live distros back in 2012 too but JACK never seemed to work!

the reason no one uses fed jam is because you can use ubuntu studio and have more packages for audio production available..
or.. install arch with a real time kernel and everything in fed jam, plus much more for audio production is available in the AUR.
I use Manjaro with Reaper for my main daw, works good... better than I figured it would.

I am still perfectly happy with Mint 19. No need to distro hop when things just work. Dot whatever will come, I'll give it a spin when it does.

Hello DT! To get nvenc working on Debian or any derivative you need to install the following library: libnvidia-encode1
    packages.debian.org/stretch/libnvidia-encode1
For Fedora follow the recommendations here: rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA#NVENC.2FNVDEC
You would be better on Gentoo for OBS and Nvenc. Just watch the videos of Adrien about it.
We'll talk about it in his live stream on the 3rd of December. You are the most welcome. It will happen at 8 PM French time but it will be in English.
    Cheers

Last on the list at Distrowatch is Nova Linux. It was created by students and staff at the University Havana in Cuba. Now, that sounds like an interesting distribution.
It features a unique desktop created at the University called "guano" - aka bat crap. I'm going to spin it up in a VM.

I haven't tried Fedora Jam but love OpenSUSE with geekosdaw. Reaper + Carla VSTi is the best for making tunes
