The way the Plaintiff was rolling her eyes was insane. She doesn't realize that the landlord could have kept a lot more and didn't. There was a lot she didn't originally withhold for. They should have just left it alone instead of getting greedy.

i loved the shocked and recoiled look at the end of the case when JM said the plaintiff's sued for the wrong amount, even though she said it earlier that they can't start with the wrong amount, and I'm glad how the defendant had proper proof for things she was out. i just wish she counter-sued to get whatever money she was still out, she probably had earned it, but It's also really awesome that she didn't and just let things go.
Where else should he do it? That's where he lived! If she wanted extra money every month to cover that, I could understand that, but there's really nowhere else for him to charge it. Not being able to charge it at his home is ridiculous. Personally, I would want to see how much hydro that scooter uses, to see if he should pay extra or not. I don't think it's any different from any other personal property, unless it uses much more electricity than the average tenant. And she certainly can't say you're not allowed to use electricity to charge your personal property when people are living there. That's also ridiculous. This is the type of thing somebody who owns their own home would say, because they aren't using common sense about where a tenant is supposed to charge their vehicle that they drive from their home. Of COURSE you would charge it there. If she wanted some additional money to cover it, that is a different matter, but obviously he needs to charge it there. I never heard her say she wanted him to pay extra, she just said he shouldn't charge it there, and that's ridiculous. I also didn't hear where she addressed that issue to him. When she saw he had an electric scooter, she should have approached him saying that he needs to pay extra per month if he wants to charge it there. I just looked up how much electricity the average scooter uses to charge, and it's about $0.15 an hour, or $2.25 for a 12 hour period.
Right off the bat, knowing the plaintiff's sued for over $6,000 when it should have been $975x3=$2925 - makes me believe the plaintiff's are just looking for a "payday". Defendant wrote off many things, and didn't even countersue. I do have to say the plaintiff came well dressed to court!
I hate to say this but it’s the simple truth. I am a terrible dresser. I buy clothes almost exclusively based on their comfort level. I now live in Florida where the summers sizzle. I have to wear shorts and sleeveless shirts just to survive. Rather ironically, I long for the days when people “gussied up” (as my dear Mom would say) for going out to dinner, traveling, etc. life has changed really drastically in a very short period of time.

Shouldn't the Landlord be inspecting the home as each tenant moves out? If she did, then I agree the new damages should be at the new tenants expense. If the damages were there prior to moving in then they should've gotten something in writing stating they wouldn't be liable for the damages upon move out
She searched hard for that “itemized report” clause. 😂 But I think the verdict was fair because they technically owed more than they were could’ve legally gotten back so it’s a wash
Wow they definitely got lucky that the landlord didn't countersue them. Definitely not cool he took advantage of her paying the light bill. They should be greatful she gave them the majority of their deposit back
There is a lot of homes in Indiana that have been turned into multiple apartments and I’m always wondering how they managed to get so many units from a seemingly normal sized house lmao
I lived in an apartment that was an old home turned apartments...had 4 apartments in it, one was literally just a room with a bathroom, we had the biggest at 2 bedrooms, and the others were one bedroom......and the house I grew up in was bigger lol
It’s funny how people have such a low opinion of landlords. My husband and I rented out our home because we had to move to another state. We charged a fair rent and ponied up when things had to be repaired. After about two years, we offered to sell the tenants the property for an extremely good price. We weren’t/aren’t wealthy by any stretch of the imagination. We simply felt that they had been wonderful tenants and deserved a break. Sometimes I think that some wealthy people are just too stingy and try to squeeze every dime possible.
Y’all are missing the POINT of these carefully chosen re-uploads lol. Theseeee are clearly the MOST MEMORABLE for different reasons & if u don’t recognize that 🗣CALVIN WAS SERVINGGGG!! 😂😂
Landlords don't steal!I don't! They steal from me. I'm a landlord and my tenants twice destroyed my property and ran out without paying rent for over 7 months. Some use the system .Now I have great tenants.
They seem to think that the law is a blanket rule...if you don't get an itemized statement in that time frame, you get triple the original security deposit. That's NOT the law. You CAN get triple of anything they can PROVE was wrongfully WITHHELD. It isn't a free-for-all for the tenants if they don't get that letter in time.
I was expecting to be on the Plaintiff's side but finished the video cheering for the landlord. That plaintiff lady just doesn't seem to understand you cannot sue for the portion of the deposit that they ALREADY GOT BACK and triple that figure.
in our house, we periodically move the stove and refrigerator and clean behind and under them. That's why the fridge is on rollers. In other words.....EW! leaving it like that? Gross!!
the majority of people do not, the average person doesn't do this with their stove or their fridge, it's not unusual because they're large appliances and some stoves are gas & most aren't willing to cap off the gas just to feel an area that isn't seen by anyone is sparkly clean, that would just be odd.
Thank you! I move the fridge and stove every month or month and a half to clean. Yeah it’s not “seen” but food/drink and random crap could be under it and I’d like to make sure it’s somewhat clean.
Judge didn’t follow the law she didn’t give itemized list any other case like this she did rough justice and did what she was supposed which was rule for the plaintiff on the 975
Ha! "Justice will get her." 🤷🏽♀️🤔Child, bye. You were wrong and didn't win. Based on the evidence presented, the landlord will prevail in the other cases. The defendant had all of her ducks in a row AND didn't countersue. BTW how do you use someone else's electricity 🤦🏽♀️🤔
But isn't the point whether or not she sent/gave the letter in time? I don't feel that charging a scooter IS any different then any other property, like cell phones. Where is he supposed to charge it??? That's where he lives! Is the landlord also going to look at every single tenant and say, you have too many things plugged in versus this person, is she also going to give people rebates on their rent if they don't use as much electricity?? Somehow, I doubt it. And it would be really weird to have on the lease that you can't use the electricity for personal property, considering that's where they live. I certainly would not sign a lease like that.
You didn’t understand anything ..,it was in the lease that you cannot use electricity in common areas because the landlord pays for that bill …if they didn’t want that provision in the lease they shouldn’t have signed on . And the letter not sent within the time frame is not the point in that case because they are suing for triple the amount of the whole security deposit which should not be the case .It doesn’t matter if they received the itemized letter late because the landlord only withheld a certain amount of that for damages which she had proven ( she did not arbitrarily withhold the full deposit amount) while the plaintiffs cannot prove their case and turned out owing the landlord much more than she deducted. And charging your scooter is not the same as using any regular appliance or cellphone/computer in the house. If he needs his scooter charged because that’s” where he lived “ , he could could have asked the landlord to pay for charging his scooter which as as the judge said eats up more elec. instead of sneakily charging it .
That’s what I was thinking too. Also, you mean to tell me I’m renting a room and I can’t plug my damn electric scooter in on the outside of the house to charge? That’s crazy to me.
@@BeccasaurousRex270 then she should have presented him with the next mailed electric bill after he did this, which she did not, she chose to bring it up in court because she's another landlord who didn't have the security deposit to give back to anyone, therefore she conjures up bullshit "damages"
I don't get the whole "charging the scooter" thing. If the scooter needs to be charged, then where is he supposed to charge it? If I'm renting a house, I should be free to use whatever electricity I need. If the landlord doesn't like it, then the lease should state that the tenants are responsible for the electricity bill. A landlord shouldn't be able to tell a tenant "No, you can't plug in your XXX because I don't want to pay the electric bill." That's ridiculous.
Should the landlord pay for their soap and shampoo they use water, how about their cell phone or internet bill , should she pay that just cause they need to charge it . Heck they park a car in the driveway so I guess landlord should pay for their gas also.
The way the Plaintiff was rolling her eyes was insane. She doesn't realize that the landlord could have kept a lot more and didn't. There was a lot she didn't originally withhold for. They should have just left it alone instead of getting greedy.
