I've thought about using a compressor and a graphic EQ in unison to try and get a similar effect of a tube screamer, all the while being able to control the exact frequencies that i want using the Graphic EQ, and being able to control exactly how much compression i want in my tone with the compressor.
Brother, that sounds awful! Its a shame aswell, because you have paid alot of money for a half stack and it sounds like a gear4music £50 practice amp. Maybe consider more mid and less gain for your EQ

Do you put your compression pedal before or after your wah?
At the time I used to keep comp immediately after the wah
Jus makes your pic sound louder mate... More of a plastic on metal sound...clever that..
