Are you using the right Diesel Fuel Filter on your Diesel rig? Well probably not as we will show you the major aftermarket filter brands with their pants down. This may seem like new news.... but it's old news to us. We've known this problem for years and we've been using the correct filter for years.
Gee we're getting tired of reminding big companies how to do their job.
3 Major brands Wrong. Many other brands we've seen also falling short. Still listing a filter from am older previous model..... Actually this slip up by the major aftermarket filter companies is about 17 years old. When the LC100 came out!

OMG bought my 105 series 1 year ago, which had been serviced by country Toyo dealer who had put the wrong 80 series filter on it. Thanks so much the 1hz is now asthma free (which really bad for a 1hz!). Even the dealers can get it wrong! Keep up the good info.
I just bought a service kit from outback equipment. I’m pleased to say that SAKURA filters are used. I changed my fuel filter last week with the Sakura……I’m relieved.
Thankfully i watched this. Ordered a new filter, the correct one this time. Cheers for the sharing of your knowledge.

Absolutely. Bought a 01 105 series 1hz. Had the wrong filter on it already. Ordered a service kit online, they sent the wrong filter. Won't shame them cos they sent the correct filter express for free, but did have to let them know. Haven't checked if they changed their kit tho. When I saw this vid I had to comment.

Just happened to me. I recently bought a fte, ran great on highway,no trailer, first trip up the range and I was losing power ,towing a trailer. Checked when I got home, wrong filter fitted. Ryco. Went and bought original. Thankyou 👍👍

Andrew thanks so much for your video I remember watching this a few months ago as I have a 1hz 105 and changed my fuel filter to Toyota. Anyway this week I picked up a lovely 100 series 1hdfte from Newcastle. Travelling down the M1 and the Hume Highway the engine wouldn’t go up hills literally max 30-60kms max. That was fun a night with the semi trailers. I tried to pull off at every town I could as under 60kmph was ok. I would have seen you in Berrima but figured the shop would be shut at 10pm! I was thinking the worst shit I bought a lemon. Injectors and pump and auto is stuffed…shit what have I done. Anyway woke up checked the fuel filter and it was a Ryco opened it up and yep no recess. Went to Toyota and picked up air and fuel filter and the car is going so well and pulls like a train.

Thanks heaps for the information. I have the wrong Sakura filter installed and my spare is also incorrect (Ryco).
Seems very interesting, the correct filter you have there for the 100 series is the same as I use in my KZN165R with the 1kz-te engine in it. All the other aftermarket filters I see are all the same.
I was told by a few people that Toyota gave me the wrong one, so I then called up to make sure it was the correct one I needed, they said that's the correct one as I gave them the part number.
I wonder if they get their own logo printed on the fuel filter that's made in the same factory but yet say it's a very high quality filter, however only charge like a few dollars less than the Genuine filters.
Loving your vids. I'm running this filter on my td42 after getting what i thought was a nissan housing from the wrecker i guess I'll swap to the z252z also. Feels like it's running pretty good to me now with the Toyota setup. slow up hills though😂.
So I'm gathering the housing for the 80 series is different and accommodates the different filter design. Just ordered the HDF296 unit for mine off you guys, I'll be paying closer attention when I'm mucking around with it.
Been using Sakura filters for twenty years. If the heavy transport industry use and sell them that's good enough for me. Great value for money too. Wouldn't go near those other brands.

Interesting...I could swear that when I replaced the X with a Z got much more squirt from the engine. Reckon it’s in my head? Also one lesser known thing on the FTE is the fuel pre filter, easy to overlook. Though tracking the line the pre filter and main filter seem to be on different loops
What’s the go with the pre filter, is that just below the main filter? Thanks Pat
The part number on the Sakura fuel filter you showed is for a Hilux. The Sakura part number should be FC-1115, which looks slightly more similar to the Ryco & Repco filters you showed. Is it safe to run the Hilux filter on a 1HZ?
No, part number is right for 1hz sakura filter: 1707.

Im just having a guess, but could it be something to do with legalities and copying? I think the OEM manufacturers would own a patent for the part, and to avoid a lawsuit there has to be a certain amount of difference in the aftermarket, which may result in different dimensions? Or perhaps they just dont do the R&D properly.

@@BerrimaDiesel my non turbo 1hz has the same feed primer you showed in the video from the factory. I used the non recessed filter and my 105 cruiser has difficulty climbing up hill.

We just keep and use the recessed filter for all models just in case.

I have Toyota genuine fuel filters on my 1997 -75 series 1HZ P/ N 2330364010 It is a flush mounted filter. I'm a little unsure now as to it being the correct . Can you enlighten me thanks Andrew. I totally look after this troopy. It's a fine example of an older 4x4
No real need on yours but anyway we just stock and use it on all. Thi sis relevant to the LC100 1HD-FTE
