    Hope you all enjoyed this 2 part series!. If the upgrade comes back and starts in the UK will you keep your 22kwh battery or will you upgrade to the 40 kwh battery?

    • @StephenDainty
      @StephenDainty 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicolas Raimo if the price was right would definitely be interested in upgrading. The 22kWh battery is fine 90% of the time for me, but if that extra 10% of the time could be improved without the cost of changing car, it would be very attractive.

    • @NicolasRaimo
      @NicolasRaimo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't forget the battery upgrade is at a cost (see part 1) but same as you most the time the battery the 22kwh is fine for me, and having the larger battery would only give you 1 leg quicker so saving around 30 mins of a long journey

    • @StephenDainty
      @StephenDainty 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicolas Raimo thanks for your reply. It is not about time, but logistics for me. Locally I can charge at home and run about in ZOE fine. Long distance (> 100 miles) I can usually plan to rapid charge at motorway service stations. The frustration is that middle ground. I for instance have relatives who live seventy miles away. The 22kWh should be able to make the trip one way, but I can’t charge there. So I have two options: drive out of the way, or what we actually do: charge at a rapid charger 40 miles from home on way out and again on way home. (That makes 40-60-40 miles between charge). In the summer it’s easy. In winter I am aware that if that charger is out of order we will either be stranded on the way home, or have to hobble to a slow charger, making big delay. As has been said in the group it is not “range anxiety” but “pump anxiety”.
      My thought is that with the 41kWh range I could make the same journey knowing (a) if an emergency no need to charge on way there, have enough range to go to a pump after arrival. And (b) if charger blocked or broken on way home, no sweat.

      Pete please **** the swearing thanks. I think there's a good chance of renault doing it once beta is finished, why you may ask? well them 22kwh battery packs will make great home storage systems or replace packs for people on battery lease agreements currently there's no need for the old 22kwh packs but this is going to change this YEAR.

      I have a joinery like this Stephen really what's needed in a charger nearer to your destination, but yes the 40kwh could help, maybe sell your car for a ZE40?

    HI there Nicolas. And thanks for you video! Lots of intusiasts want to upgrade the battery capacity indeed. But I'm in doubt. You mentioned to upgrade SW just after reassembling the new 40kWh pack... then you didn't say from where? Must we rely on Renault service? Since we're planning to get a 40kWh pack from a demaged Zoe, must we upgrade BMS? In this cas the BMS cames with the pack... Thanks for you support.

    Hi Nick Loving the content, do you have any info on the Kangoo batteries? I have a 22kw Kangoo and I believe the current one is 33kw, I am wondering if the same swap is possible? Also, is the battery the same on the kangoo as it is on the Zoe? I know the motor is bigger on Zoe but the battery might be the same? Many thanks, Nigel

    • @NicolasRaimo
      @NicolasRaimo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Am not such an expert on the kangoo sadly, i suspect renault use the same battery pack on both but 33kwh isn't the same as the zoe battery is bigger. In theory all batteries could be upgrade if the BMS was upgraded or it had the same level steps. Renault currently suspended battery upgrades while they await for there beta models (1st wave) to provide more data.

      RCI - is Renault Crédit International its the bank part of renault. Currently the upgrade is on STOP so they are waiting for DATA from the Beta testers before they decide to do anymore. Interestring thing would be, if one can get a 41kWh battery and swaps out his 22kWh battery ... how will Zoe handle this without the updates, that the owner onyl can have, if he pays the expensive swap at a dealer?
    So for example ... I buy a crashed ZE40, but battery all is intact.
    I rent/lease the 41kWh batetry and give Renault the 22kWh battery from my Zoe back (so it official has no battery) but then I install the 41kWh battery in my Zoe ... Renault shouldn't care, I pay the rent/lease for the 41kWh battery.
    BUT what happens in my Zoe with the now 41kWh battery?
    They for sure wouldn't give me the needed updates, you can't get them withoput the dealer connects the car with the Renault servers
    Is there a "hack"? Or will it only show me wrong distance calculation, but uses all energy of the 41kWh battery?

  • @EdwardJones-gj6mp
    @EdwardJones-gj6mp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi. Does anyone know how to tell whether battery cooling is working properly? If I plug in my Zoe straight away after driving, it cuts out charging after about 2 hours to 3 hours then has to rest for about 8 hours before it will restart. Like it has gone into a short coma. If you open the doors while it is sleeping, it starts charging again. It will charge through to 100% if you charge it for a bit, drive it out and back into the garage and put it back on charge. So, basically it has to charge for 2 stages. It seems it might charge if you rest it after driving which makes me think about battery cooling.

      Does your aircon/heating work?

    • @EdwardJones-gj6mp
      @EdwardJones-gj6mp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NicolasRaimo Yes. However, when the car's software was updated the aircon did not work. I was boiling hot in the car but at this time the charging was more reliable for the few days when the car was a sweat box. Weird. The dealer kept telling me that the aircon needed to be recalibrated and told me to set the temperature to something - maybe 18 degrees, maybe 28 and then hold the auto button for at least 15 seconds. This did not bring the aircon back. I took the car back in and was told that the aircon pressure sensor needed to be reset and that they had done this. The aircon started to work again. However, the problem with charging continued.

    Please correct the title. It is "22kWh to 41kWh". Furthermore the BMS, that is inside the battery, is NOT updated after the swap, but the EVC (Electric Vehicle Controller) is. But the video presentation is nice.

      Hey there,
      Is it possible to update the EVC diy? Ie using clip or some other hardware /software?

    If I have to pay extra ££££'s for the battery upgrade, I want to own the battery not continue with the lease but I don't think Renault will make that possible. I fear I will have trouble selling my Zoe as people will now only want the 41KWH version.

      Not true, 22kwh model will always sell as it still does the task it was made for, in fact i have 1 in stock and 2 people just turned up to view it at the same time. If it fits your needs now it will fit someone else's in the future like all cars its price will drop and more people will find it affordable and as fuel increases it will become a more popular buy.

      Ideally I'd like to trade mine in for a 41KWH battery owned version but my local Renault Dealer doesn't seem at all interested or equipt to sell or service my car even though it was bought from them 2 years ago.

    And what are they doing 5 years later? Laughing there faces off at there existing customers, telling them to buy a new car. Yeah OK Green that is.
