You should make another vid on your channel, you have only made 2 and they are both '2 years ago' and '1 year ago', you should make another one, even if it's short =)
I'd be very interested in seeing the code behind the 'segments following eachother' bit. Tbh also the rotating part. Any chance that's viewable on a git somewhere?
Doubt it, that seems like a big part of his game atm and it's something I dont recall seeing in other games, but he did post a tutorial on how to get 4 legs to work procedurally (no code shown tho), maybe you could expand on that
Actually it's not that hard. First, you have to set the position of the block of the body to follow the one in front and then you can just lerp the rotation to be equal as the same object you are following
Dude please male a tutorial about how you made this that goes into depth. Most people cannot re create this very easily. It would be a huge hit because so many people are interested in this.
@@tatatats23123 Don't forget the Math behind it. You don't need to be a math professor but you need to understand the fundamentals, fox example: vectors and geometry
@@tatatats23123 I don't really know what's going on behind the screen in somebody's life but I really suggest you try being a little less rude. Everyone has been at that point where we started out as noobs in game development, including you. That being said, I also would like a more in-depth video on procedural animation, and coding the coding process. I know it's challenging to implement but maybe having someone live stream the process or something would be amazing.
Suggestion: It would be cool if it would also have a weak point on its back segments. Kinda like the serapedes in Gears of War. It could still take body damage, but I think a back weak point would be cool. :)
Oh I've never 2anted 5o buy a game just to fight a boss but I would literally love to fight this boss it looks so fun. He's so cute btw! Lovely Design!
The pivot of each segment is in the front, and segments have a target point in the back. Each segment moves and rotates towards the target point in front, creating a chain of segments. The movespeed is also based on the distance from the target, so segments don't get too far apart. I'm using some additional raycasts to alter the target rotation for each segment so they avoid obstacles.
I'll subscribe if you can make an in-depth tutorial about procedural animation (on Unity or whatever!)^^ PS: Meanwhile you have my like and friends recommendation! ;)
FANTASTIC WORK! Why do you not come to the Unreal Engine 4 and make your Fantastic Centipede, Wasp and Scorpion there? I miss something like that on UE4!!!
Had me wondering if the centipede could make tighter turns if the legs avoided each other better? It seems they compete for space sometimes. Looking forward to v2.0 boss.
How do you go about transitioning from the ik follower chain into the upward raising animation while keeping the rest of the body moving the way it was? Is it just starting the chain from that last ground segment or what?
I’ve been doing a lot of reading and practicing code, I’ve figured out inverse kinematics and how to move leg positions to the new position, but how does one make it a smooth transition?
She/He made a quick tutorial about the fundamentals of procedural animation. You should be able to find it on the channel, however it is not a coding tutorial but an explanation of what concepts are used and some of their basic interactions.

Could somebody explain the stretchy connection parts part? I am working on something similar for a prototype, but couldn't get my head around if there is something that can easily solve this in Unity or if I would simply need to make a good model in Blender than Unity will handle that?

Otherwise very cool channel with lots of useful short explanation videos ;)
hi! i have a question, does procedural animation slower than normal animation? i'm new to game development and i'm really interested in this procedural animation thing
I wonder if this guy will be included or already IS included in Weird Shooter Game, it be ashamed to put the guy together just to leave in to waste away in it’s own desert. A machine that like that deserves to die with valour than succumb to the sands.
Hey, procedural animation basically means the animation is coded. It doesn't require any keyframes and it uses IK to automatically adjust to the terrain. I'm using Blender for modeling and the terrain is also a Blender mesh (though I would not recommend using custom meshes for terrain unless you optimize it properly).
Ah yes, a giant centipede boss. I wonder what will his attack be
*lasers*
Why did my mind responded with the "silence" meme
After doing such much work on a boss he probably thought now I don't want to invest too much work for the attack.
It’s a robot.....

Now we just need missile pods in each segment...no don't xD
Sir, Do you make tutorials On how to make this Awsm stuff ?
I would love to see how you got the IK working so smoothly on the legs!
U should use different effects for your attacks for example poisonous breath instead of a laser
