You touched on something that really makes Home Free stand out - EVERYONE gest a chance. There is no 'lead' singer, they go with whatever voice (or voices) will work best for a particular song. They were really excited when they did American Pie that there were enough verses to go around, including one for Don McLean. Tim's arrangement is brilliant, their presentation is spectacular. The setting was inspired and the camera work just added to it. If you haven't already, you should also listen to their Angels we Have Heard - it was filmed in the same church, but a more intimate portion. Another feast for the ears - Chris Rupp did the arrangement for that one.
This song is the first I heard from these talented guys two years ago, and it is still my favorite Christmas song. I agree, this is the best version I have ever heard. At one point it says ...I hear the angel voices.... - Yes, these guys have voices like angels, they are the best! Great reaction!
Regarding Austin's nose twitch, I have personally always thought it was more because he's a natural showman and when he's performing, he just can't help but do little movements that draw one's attention. He does that more so than anyone else and you can see it in every video. Usually it's with his hands, but here he knew the camera was zooming in on him at that moment, so maybe that was just him expressing his friendly, extroverted self.
@@arnieadam I agree. Austin can draw you in with just the way he uses his eyes, a head gesture and his body motion. And that smile is is the cherry on top. I think Austin is giving lessons though😁. I've noticed more of these "tactics" from the rest of the gang in their newer endeavors.
I believe it to be because of his background in musical theater too but whatever the reason is I love it when he does that it's adorable and makes me giggle 😁
I've always thought the nose twitch was telling the listener, "hold on to your chair because I'm about to blow you out of it!" He always seems to do it just before he brings down the chandelier.
I love their arrangement of this song. I have 2 favorite parts-the cascading bell sound and the tight, passionate power of the final chorus. Amazing aren't they? This is the best version of this song that I have ever heard.
Home Free is known for their tight harmonies. They’re so good. Tim, the bass, and first singer, arranged this years ago as a teen. He didn’t know how to write it on paper so he sang every part to the group. So amazing. Loved the bell tones. Good reaction and Merry Christmas!
You haven’t had a chance to check out Adam Rupp’s vocal percussion talent. While you’re still in the Christmas mood, check Do You Hear What I Hear?, which was arranged by Adam. Very, very, complex ear candy
If you haven't yet, you should listen to some of Austin's solo work. Some of my favorites are "Bring Him Home", "Unchained Melody", "Tears In Heaven", "Danny Boy", and "Georgia On My Mind" (Austin's hometown is Tifton, Georgia).
If you haven’t done Do You Hear What I Hear, you need to react to it. Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, arranged it and I have read it was the most complicated arrangement they had ever done. Love to hear your comments on that one.
This is so gorgeous. My favorite part is the carillon bells followed by the waterfall of "fall"s. Thanks for showing some warm weather. Here in Minnesota there is about a foot of snow and although the sun is shining brightly, it's 1 degree F, with a windchill of -10. But listening to these guys always warms me up. Hope you are having a happy holiday.
One of my favorite Home Free Christmas songs. A couple of my other favorites is 'Do You Hear What I Hear', and the original Home Free song, 'Snow Globe'. Happy Holidays 🎁🎄
Thank you for that heartfelt reaction. I love these guys so much. Apart from their musical collaboration, I find each of them so attractive in their own way. Gorgeous young Austin, devastatingly handsome Tim, and super-huggable Rob especially. I think Austin's nose twitch is a way to get that country twang. Tim does something similar when he goes high.
This is my favorite version of this song by far !! I believe that Austin does that with his nose because that's his technique for getting that very forward placement and pingy resonance
This song was my first introduction to Home Free--and they've been my favorite musicians ever since! Love it when these guys voice the bell tones🔔 Besides the unbelievable harmonies--and gorgeous church backdrop--getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is a real treat ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ Would love to hear your reaction to Home Free's version of "Mary, Did You Know" and for sure, their version of "Auld Lang Syne" for New Years'!
I love Austin's little nose twitch! I read a comment sometime ago about it that said it has to do with clearing the nasal passage (or something like that) for high notes.
William, I LOVE your Home Free reactions! Your analysis describes them perfectly! The bond they have with each other shows in their performances! This truly is my favorite version of this song! As for Austin's nose scrunch, I think it was just a flirty thing then. This video is one of their older ones so Austin was only about 28! He doesn't do that nose thing much anymore unless it's when his partner, Amberly, is filming him!😊 Have a very Merry Christmas🌟⛪🛐🎄🎀 & a Happy New Year🎆🎇🎊 on the other side of the globe from frigid 🥶(but no snow) SE Tennessee, USA! Thursday night, it dropped from 45 degrees F to 1 degree F in a couple of hours!
Merry Christmas, William. 🌲💕 The Austin Crinkle is what we can it. I have no idea why he does it, I think it's just a cute thing, and of course we all adore it whatever the reason. Thanks for a great reaction!
This is the one that got me started -- and for good reason too! Gotta say, the best I've ever heard. Oh, and the facial "scrunch", it's a flirty thing - not so different from winking!!! Nice reaction! Merry Christmas (Reason for the Season!) Be Safe
He may have looked about 12 years old but was in fact 27/28 when this was filmed. Since then, the beard has appeared and disappeared at regular intervals, growing back with dizzying speed every time he shaves it off.
Your reactions are wonderful so would you please please please do one on Austin’s channel, a solo, that I think quite a few of us would love to see your reaction & analysis. AUSTIN BROWN “BRING HIM HOME” from Les Miserables 🙏
My thoughts on the nose twitch: Austin's pretty cute, and I think this was done for the ladies in his younger days. Now that he's older, and has the amazing Amberly in his life, you seldom see the nose twitch in their current works.
Merry Christmas from Austin, TX! Thanks for the great reaction to this treasure and these guys are humble and talented so there's not much 😉 they can't accomplish. I'm a recent fan of theirs myself!
I don't think you've seen the latest Home Free videos: "Remember My Name" & "Playing With Fire" (both of which were written or co-written by Austin), live videos from their European Tour of "Hers Ain't Mine" (written by Austin), Skull & Bones (written by Adam Chance) and a professionally recorded live video of "Sea Shanty Medley". I think you'd enjoy all of them. I love your reactions, comments & analyses.

Go back and listen to the message at the end, after the song is over. They tell where they are. That's something you have to always check at the tail end of Home Free and VoicePlay videos. They don't alway have something to say after the song, but when they do it is important to hear. VoicePlay's Halo Theme is a good example of that.
They did a beautiful job. The arrangement and harmonies are both creative and seamless. Another stunning version is done by David Phelps in a live concert with the Gaithers. He's a classically trained tenor who for many years (until recently) sang primarily Christian music. He sings this with such faith and conviction (as well as a stunning voice), that it's the most moving I've ever heard.
Merry Christmas!✨️🎄🎅 I wish peace, harmony and prosperity to reign in every home. May the guardian angel protect you from troubles, adversities, you and your loved ones! Thank you for your reaction, great performance.💝🎶

At 28 years old, he could grow a beard but as is very common with the first beard a man grows, it was slow to grow and looked scruffy, so he kept shaving.
I hope you can do David Phelps’s performance of this song. His version is so moving, powerful. Vocal mastery too! To me, I think his version is the best for English lyrics. And Jussi’s version is the best for non English lyrics , opera style!
