      Agreed, have not seen a single video break this down in such a simple way so that those of us thinking about doing a similar project can have an idea of what we are in for. Definitely subscribing, if these two go through everything else so clearly and honestly there will definitely be some great info.

    I found your channel a couple days ago and have really enjoyed watching your videos. I especially appreciate how well you break down the process and the progress. I can't wait to see your home completed. You are a very cute couple. My husband and I were considering making a shipping container home like you but we have kids already which makes it difficult to build anything this extensive. Maybe we will still try to do it when kids are a bit older. Thank you for showing both the good and bad things as well as what you used for solutions. It is so interesting and helpful. I love that you guys share your "experiment and laboratory" with us.

    Great idea for people on a small budget just starting out or don't want to invest time and money on a big home. A simple quiet life and something of your own.I think your doing great on the budget. I'd try to stay cost efficient under 20k maybe . I know it needs more work but it is still cheaper than renting an apartment or home or people who have to live at hotels. Keep up the good work.

    compared to other projects with shipping containers and people spending nearly 30 thousand dollars i would say you're on the right track to making an affordable home that looks good . it only takes a little hard work and creativity and that 10 to 15 thousand can look just like 30 thousand . End the end it's something you and your partner build , thats what makes it more of a fulfilling emotion when complete . good video, very helpful when pricing things out .

    Hello kids! Love this build, I plan to build one of these very similar to yours with one big change in plans, cutting the biggest container is a great idea, you get two for one (almost). I plan to build a small corner section 12X12 from a monolithic slab with integral footings for landing the cut ends of the container and supporting the structure, the 12X12 will be an open living room/Kitchen then the rest will be for laundry storage and two bedrooms. I might message. The floor plan too you guys.
    Really love your enthusiasm and work ethic. Keeps you young!

    I build Tiny Houses, Cabins and Bunkers from shipping containers in Arizona, USA. Your costs are on par with a DIY build. TIME is the most valuable resource people take for granted. I would explain how many hours it took to complete each milestone of your build, so wouldbe DIYers will know what they should expect. I currently sell a turnkey solar powered 320sqft Tiny House from a 40HC for $11,000 USD in Arizona.

    • @OddLifeCrafting

      It’s just hard to count the hours we spend because it varies a lot the hours of the days we work. In the beginning we started to get it noted, but then we got lost with it. Sorry, but we are gonna be in debt with this part 😔

    • @jameskirk5843
      @jameskirk5843 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@OddLifeCrafting $15,000 is not much debt. I suspect your land and project is rolled into a construction loan? Your debt is good debt because you're paying a fraction of the cost of buying a traditional stick built home. From what I can tell, the two of you are doing everything right.

      Hi! My wife and I are starting to research a larger container project that we would pay a contractor to do. We haven't scheduled any consults yet. Do you have any idea of a ballpark estimate for a multi-container home? We're thinking 4x40' HC (family of 5!). Thanks for sharing your experience. Slides of examples during the explanation would be additional fun for watching. I think your pretty much right on with costs, not that I'm an expert. Seems realistic. I've been wanting to do something like this for years. Saving up. Did you purchase the property?, and what about the utilities for your setup?

    Delighted for you , next week, add on the cost of a few citronella candles(for the bugs) reclaimed windows and doors would keep costs down but this would take time but i suppose that would work for the interior better you could fit it out with more choice pieces from travels etc. Thrift stores and midnight visits to some skips lol

    • @OddLifeCrafting
      @OddLifeCrafting  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Citronela is a good choice. Hehe. Sometimes in Brazil is cheaper to order the windows than buying a reclaimed one 😔

    Hi and congratulations...you guys are really doing a terrific job. Thanks to your willingness to work hard.
    The prices you have spent is rite on if not a little low...so if we take the 320 sq ft and just round off to ten grand
    That’s about $31.25 a sq ft for a weather title she’ll with doors ..windows..and a deck.....so I’d say you are in good shape....but your expensive stuff is coming as you start to make it livable......electrics..heating and ac...Plumbing...bathroom kitchen.....all stuff I’m sure you are aware of.....so I’m very interested to see how it works out
    Oh I really liked your idea of the rite angle...very clever
