I saw one episode of Samurai, it was where they introduced Antonio. He was awesome, but everyone else’s rejection of him made me hate them enough to not continue watching.
Antonio was actually a pretty good adaptation of the original Sentai version of the 6th Shinkenger character, Genta Umemori. Genta ran a sushi stand in the original Sentai, so having Antonio be a fisherman, selling fish out of a fish cart made sense. His backstory for Power Rangers Samurai also pretty much fits -- considering he wasn't born into a samurai bloodline, but wanted to help his friend fight and become a samurai like him. His episodes are pretty much the only saving grace of Power Rangers Samurai.
Eugenideddis Good, because let's face it. The cast of Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai should have been in a far better TV show than this.

He had all that power he needed.
If I could add something on to Antonio's character...
He mastered a fighting style thought impossible by the other rangers (The "Sheath Slash Maneuver). On top of his other abilities. Give him some credit people. Regardless of what other people think of PR Samurai/Super Samurai.
He also programmed like a quarter of all their Zords. Without him, they would have lost to the Nighlock. Clawzord, Octozord, Shark Zord and Disk, Black Box, and Lightzord. I also feel like they made Antonio so overpowered at first with his Barracuda Bite. He was so fast that I was sure that he could have taken out the entire Nighlock army himself because he was so fast. But after the first couple episodes with Antonio, I feel like they had to slow down Antonio and make him more of a background character because he was way more powerful than Jayden.

Antonio is a great Ranger he can really hold his own in a battle and I love his backstory about how he and Jayden were friends as kids and I also loved how he was more than willing to prove to the other Samurai Ranges that he would make a great addition to the team not only that you've gotta love a Ranger that can sing and cook.
Steven Skyler was even on an episode or two of Glee for those pipes of his.
Also he broke the 4th wall in his first appearance

Dude, without him they literally would have lost to the nighlock. He programmed or revived at least a quarter of their zords. Octo, Claw, Light, Shark, and the black box.
Antonio was brilliant for what he was, to be fair. Underrated AF because of his series.
Yeah. He reverse engineered his own Samuraizer from an old broken phone he found. He brought the Clawzord and Lightzord back to life, and got the Shark Zord and Disk from the Lightzord as a bonus, brought back the Octozord, and helped program and finish the Black Box. He also helps cook sometimes which is way better than Mia’s cooking. And, he sang for Charity! I mean, what more can I say about this guy! He’s amazing!
Don't forget, Eric Mayer can access Devil Trigger from his demonic powers which he inherited from his demon father and can cut dimensions with his inherited demonic katana ... jk but that would be cool. Devil May Quantum 3: Stuntman's Awakening Special Edition.

the term 6th/extra is a bit undefined. some rangers like trent and daggeron are the 6th rangers of the season despite being the fifth and seventh to appear in the series respectively. good list though. glad you gave antonio some positive attention. he was a bit of a goof but that doesnt make him a bad ranger. i mean if ziggy can be a great ranger despite being severely unqualified, antonio does deserve a spot on this list
I love me some Ziggy! Can't wait to talk more about how he progressed when we eventually get to RPM. And yeah, I did the best I could with the odd terminology of 6th and Extra Rangers. Generally speaking, I wouldn't count Rangers like Jack because he suited up during the two part premiere, as opposed to Ziggy, Dillon, and the Thunder Ranger bros.

Olivia Taylor I’m not completely sure but I think personally it has to do with his growth as a character. And before Blake and Hunter were on the team, Blake was more open minded about being good and betraying Lothor. That’s my opinion on it.

Daggeron was always my favorite growing up. I felt like he had a father quality to him- something I didn't really get growing up. And I liked his voice.

I totally forgot about Tommy being a sixth Ranger as green and white. He just felt so natural as a full member of the team
Merrick is easily one of my all time favorite rangers, as well as RJ and Kruger(wolf theme really appeals to me lol). So while I'm surprised he didn't make it onto the list, I can't really complain as all of my other favorites did with high praise. Merrick's story in Wild Force is one that's just really captivating to me, his in and out of suit designs were awesome and the badass loner type is what I'm really drawn to. I guess he didn't make the list because of his overall impact to story and/or team? Great list by the way, just found your channel and have been enjoying every vid I've watched so far :)
I agree. Merrick is one of my favorite sixth rangers.
Merrick's suit is so cool I'm using it as a base for my OC's suit.
I would have loved to hear your take on Merrick since I think he also had some good character development. I loved the arc with Zen Aku. However, I'm really happy that not only was Mike Corbett on the list but so high up as well. The comparison with Carter Grayson was really good and something I didn't really think about until now.

SolidSnake0621 out of all the lists, this is actually the one where I think Tommy fit best at number 1. Green Ranger set everything in motion and making it a tradition from then on. He started out evil and saw a group’s destruction only to be overcome with right and end up becoming a force for good

Great list, I’m also happy with number 1, definitely one of the best. Now my guy would have definitely been Eric. Maybe that’s childhood bias but he was the man. Now my favorite characters always tend to be the cool badass loaner types so he was obviously gonna be my favorite. Also him being Vergil is the most awesome thing ever

Cruger is much more than just the standard PR mentor. He is also the father figure of the rangers. He looks like the kind of guy you CAN approach with any kind of problem and he'll lend his ear. He allows Bridge to breath and experiment new and innovative methods to solving crimes, he offers Z a chance to actually be the greater good she so desperately desires, he actually gives Sky the red ranger role once he knew Sky deserved it and wasn't full of himself anymore. He also moulds Jack into a real leader from just a common thief he picked off the street, through Jack's lazy and somewhat selfish and careless attitude at first. He even recognised that Boom is a valuable asset even when he failed the ranger training course. He moved past his own hatred and desire for vengeance against Grumm and locked him up knowing that THAT is his duty, not his own personal vendetta and grudge.
Zordon wishes he can be as amazing as Doggie.(no discredit to Zordon though)

I wouldn't say the Spirit Rangers are 6th rangers. Dominic fills that role more IMO.

Antonio finally gets some love
The way RJ moves makes me laugh every time.
Honestly, I refer to Mike as the Sixth Galaxy Ranger, regardless of what Toei says about Black Knight/Magna Defender. I mean, if Robo Knight is deemed the sixth Megaforce Ranger, then Magna Defender is the Sixth Galaxy Ranger, in my book. He’s got bits of the team’s design motif (you can see the teeth mark shaped squiggly line in the gold portions of his armor), a similar power source (his own sword), a morpher, actually morphs, and has his own Zord in the form of the ToroZord.
i don't consider neither rangers.
I consider Magna Defender a Ranger, but I most certainly do not consider Robo-Knight a Ranger.
Roboknight would be the biggest stretch, since he isn't even alive, technically, and as a robot, he can't even morph unless you count his weird Zord transformation. But I completely agree that Mike is and always will be a Ranger. Which also makes "To The Tenth Power" a numerical misnomer, as there were eleven Rangers in that crossover. Not sure what happened to Zhane though.

First of all amazing list.
I wondered about that with Zhane. I mean, you got a point there. How did a full Ranger team ended up with only its leader and sixth ranger? And more so with that said sixth ranger out of commission and the leader reluctant to take new people in his team.
The characterization of Trent in Dino Thunder is amazing. That is my favorite ranger in my favorite season of all of them.
RJ is a wonderful mentor. He is really amazing at his job.

I think Dino Super Charge is a great example of how to not do a butt ton of extra Rangers, since none of them really get much development. Heck, I'm not sure Prince Phillip even has three lines of dialogue after his focus episode. Tyler's dad has inherent importance to him, but there's not too much done with that relationship after he's revealed to be alive. And all they would have needed to do is basically retool "Destined For Greatness" and you've got something. And on top of that, they didn't even use the Talon Ranger suit, which looks so cool. Kendall is a huge bias of mine and Ivan is a lot of fun but beyond them, that "biggest team ever" tagline is only just that :/

Honestly, besides Mighty Morphin, Lost Galaxy and SPD were probably my favorite seasons of Power Rangers. And I can definitely agree with how high Mike and Doggie were on the list.

I recently started rewatching the whole series and I'm on Lightspeed Rescue now. Titanium Ranger is easily becoming one of my top favorite 6th rangers. He had such a badass intro and compelling story.
But Shadow Ranger will probably always be my number one

Yes! It hurt him so much to lay down, and when mentor came back, they took all the pillows and one of the cushions he was laying on to give to mentor, hurting him even further.

5:14 Does Jared really count as "American Exclusive"? From what I know, his Gekiranger counterpart is very similar to him, the only part I think might be different is his background at the academy changing. Aside from that though, I think there nearly identical.
technically he has 2 counterparts but the concept of his villainy is exclusive.
disney era power rangers Oh yeah, you mean Kurojishi Rio and the Infinite Dragon Long from Gekiranger?! I remember them. Still better villain characters than pretty much any of the villain characters from the Neo-Saban era, except for Serrator, Vrak, Sledge, possibly Heckyl, but that's debatable and to a certain degree, Madam Odious.
I suppose Jarrod would be less American exclusive than someone like Ransik for sure. Also, I think while making that section I forgot about his Sentai counterpart... lol
I only say that because Ransik and Astronema are completely american made, right down to the costumes. Jarrod's back story is american only, but both his overall role in the show and appearance is basically a combination of Rio and Long.
I’d say, he’s about as “American exclusive” as Vypra or Nadira, where they took an established character from the Sentai and had an American actor play the character for some reason, instead of just dubbing the character’s lines like they did Rita in the first season.

Technically, Anubis "Doggie" Kruger is . . . .well, not a wolf. He's a dog. Actually an alien species known as Anubian. In the original Super Sentai series -- Dekaranger -- Doggie Kruger actually went by a nickname "Hell's Guard Dog" (Jigoku no Banken).
I always thought the Shadow ranger was the top 6th/extra"special"ranger with Dragonzord ranger and Gold ranger and still think he's underrated. Omega ranger could've been on there but I felt he was under utilize on one of favorite power ranger series.

Here are my picks for the most powerfull 6th rangers :
Evil White Dino : handled the entire team of rangers with ease as much as he did with the vilains. His insane speed and lethal precision makes him even more dangerous than OG Green MMPR in my opinion. He got a ferocious instinct which drives him in battle.
Quantum ranger : it's the pinacle of future ranger tech, his Quantum Defender allow him enormous fire power, he got a battlizer that allowed him to defeat a grown-sized monster. Eric got military disciplin and is a very though fighter.
original Magna Defender : Great fire power granted by his blaster rifle. Very skilled swordman that stop at nothing with a resolve as hard as steel. He is tenacious and won't go down easily. His finisher is most of the time an insta-win. He also seems to be an experimented fighter.
Technicaly Orion would be top of the list thanks to his gold mode channeling all of the 6th rangers power ... but the weapon doesn't make the warrior.
I would put kruger on this list too: he was able to defeat all 5 mebers of the b squad, figth with the main vilan of the season mulriple times, and of course delta comand megazord.
I remember Nicktoons did a marathon of all of Jungle Fury and I watched the whole thing, and that’s when I fell in love with that season. It’s the best.

Dan Southworth as Eric Meyers/Quantum Ranger is a story that was a long-time coming. Dan originally auditioned for the role of Adam back during MMPR S2's filming, made it through to almost being picked before JYB got the role, Dan went on to being a stuntman for the show before landing the role as Eric and then doing most of his own stunts as a face-actor/hero-actor (normally face/hero actors don't do their own stunts in productions unless they've got the experience and training to do them safely, mainly for insurance reasons).
Yeah the Lion Galaxy Princess is total a " well I'm just here" kind of character
I'd also like to point out how her entire galactic view, not world view, galactic view, was changed within 12 minutes because a cute girl saved her from a tumble. Astronema is weeping for this generation's "complex" villains.

That's a really good idea! A couple people have been suggesting something similar to that and I've been trying to work out how that would go down in terms of a full video. What will probably happen is that I'll create an imaginary scenario and have you the subs make your own arguments as to who the best possible team could be. And then on the back end of the video, I'll give my ideas, although most of picks won't be all that shocking, lol

Antonio was the best thing about Samurai for me! Granted, the the bar wasn't set that high, but still, I like his character and his story. Honestly, if the writers had been smart they could have used Antonio to set up/support a theme in the story of Tradition vs. Progress, with Antonio supporting progress. Sadly, the writers failed to understand the difference between the villain-of-the-week formula and an actual story, so a great deal of potential came to nothing.

Honestly, having a plot device that can end everything at the ready since the beginning only works if it fails and the heroes are forced to find a different solution. Oh, wait, you mean that the series finally ended. Eh, I don't know about that, isn't that how we ended up with Megaforce?
Leaving aside Tommy: Zhane, Eric, and Cruger are most legit IMO. I do like RJ and Corbett quite a bit, too. These six stand above the others for me, I think.

I've always kind of thought of Mike as the 6th Ranger of Lost Galaxy even though I know he's generally considered an "extra", but would you also count him as being a "Black" Ranger too? I've never really, until recently thinking about it because why not? lol He morphs into his suit with his own morpher and even though his suit isn't the more typical spandex, being more an armor, the Solaris Knight's suit is more like armor as well. Plus with Kyuranger on the horizon to be the next PR series it brings with it Oushi Black, who is very similar to the Magna Defender, & will without a doubt be considered a Black Ranger. As well as Tenbin Gold being very similar too & Ookami Blue opens up a whole new can of worms. lol
I think the comics used him in a Forever Black event. Though id you ask me he looks more like a brown Ranger.
Mike was supposed to be the laid-back comic relief much like Beast Boy the original comic relief in green yes I know he's technically a Teen Titan and not a Power Ranger but I'm talking about just in character and color

I can respect that list very much. Gold Ranger and Green(Dragon Ranger are such wildcards. Its hard not to rank em that high. But Eric and Mike have such good character and development I could easily switch them around with Gold and Green Ranger. Anyone in the top 4 is a number 1. Damn near perfection
You can’t just say you could “easily switch them around” that’s HIS list… And he never asked for ur opinion… make ur own list and talk about “switching this person around”. You can’t tell or say who YOU should “switch around in HIS list. Is it yours no? Did you make HIS list? No. He can switch or not switch whoever he wants to switch because that’s his list and he made it. 💀
I would love to see a top list highlighting the best support characters from Power Rangers. Support characters in most series seem to get the shaft in terms of presence and importance in most series, Power Rangers is no exception to this. Regardless, the Power Rangers franchise has quite a few memorable and worthy characters that only really had a supporting role in respective series, Kat and Boom were both this in different ways in SPD.
