    When I hear Banagloreans talk about what their city used to be in the past, I am instantly transported to the Dehradun of the pre-Uttarakhand days. As a native of Uttarakhand, I can understand what my Kannadiga brothers and sisters feel witnessing what one of their most peaceful and beautiful cities has been reduced to.

      As a person from Dehradun and living in Bengaluru , I feel Dehradoon is no where close to any modern city . It is just garbage everywhere barring new Rajpur/ Mussorie road . Doon is dying a slow death . Bengaluru will rise soon but doon will take some time

      @@shrihara The responsibility of saving Bangalore squarely rests with old Bangaloreans and Kannadigas. You must become organized and tell political parties that they better start working towards improving infra or remain prepared to get their butts kicked. One of the many reasons why Dehradun's condition has deteriorated is because the local communities (the Pahadis) are not organized at all. When both unity is absent and indifference is rampant among local communities people from elsewhere start taking things for granted.

And seeing the city slowly rotting is a pain one can not go through..I have seen it up close. I am an early 70s-80s guy. Grew up and lived in Bangalore for over 30 years before moving out to far west...

    When I visited Bangalore in 1992, I was so amazed how beautiful the city is. It’s climate was so soothing. I wish that time I love to live in this city in my future and visited that city many times in 90’s. I was so excited to be in Bangalore again in 2014 with my friends and the traffic is horrendous. I went to those beautiful places in the past and devastated to see how horrible it is then. I have lived in cities with heavy traffic, but Bangalore is beyond imagination. It was better to stay in the hotel rather than enjoying the beauty of the city because we just waste time on the traffic which was no fun🥲🥲🥲

      Not just London or Tokyo there are many such examples but the real issue is corruption and the dirty attitude of the citizens...first of all no body wants to keep their own premises clear or if at all they clean they will dump the garbage elsewhere, no driving sense, no rules, coos are there only to to make money instead of controlling traffic, no proper roads, NO FOOTPATHS it is either occupied by shopkeepers, illegal buildings, electrical transformers, etc. Almost all bus stops are in the turnings or junctions blocking traffic, be it death, weddings, birthday or festivals are all celebrated on roads, etc etc, etc, etc and etc... civic sense has vanished, everyone is selfish should cleannthe brains of the people first then half of the problem is solved

      Not really, the average living space is 41 sq meters which is not that different from your average Indian Apartment, a good case study on how to build a city is singapore but then again urban planning reflects society so, even singapore's model isnt going to work here

    Me and My room mate lived in Banglore for 6 months. We hated it. Expensive rent, BMTC is very annoying, the conductor kicks you out if you dont have change. WTF. If you go by car or bike, you will spend all day to find parking.

    Bangalore roads plunder your time and drain your energy even before you start your day. The fundamental problem is that there's no unity among the city dwellers, politicians and corporates. Nobody cares as long as they get their work done somehow. I used to commute to Whitefield from Cox town and it takes me 3-4hrs back and forth every day. It's just shocking to wonder how much manpower is poorly wasted being stuck in traffic. Bangalore should be put in the ICU and needs emergency care.

    Sir, I am also from Bangalore, it’s being in bad condition due to corrupt politicians and Land grabbers.
    Our politicians are not patriotic and doesn’t care for the nation . They are all out to make money.
    My mother a widow (89years)of ex servicemen and freedom fighter is struggling to get back her small site which the political thugs have occupied, our family is threatened.

    Very good analysis of Present day Bangaluru. I am a Bangalorean and have helplessly seen lakes disappear and rajakaluves mindlessly filled with debris and encroached. It pains me to further elaborate on so many other issues plaguing the City so soaked in corruption not sparing even the struggling poor, hard working middle class and just about who wants to live with some peace.

      Sorry, but I disagree with this 'news'. Infact Bengaluru is still thriving environment wise. In the last few years, due to people action, Ive seen more lakes being revived than being destroyed so many lakes near sarjapur are so clean and great waking areas. There are things to be put in place, but It still remains the best cities in India. Another improvement which can be done is for the state government to build huge car parkings throughout the outer ring road. and make the area within the ring road as totally car free. That way there will be huge potential for growth

      The BBMP engineers are *plain incompetent* - they do not understand the basics of hydrology - construction of drains and emptying that water into larger drains. I am flabbergasted - I showed an engineer that rain water drain is very big and directly emptying into a raja kaluve - he pats my back and says I am there if there is a problem. What future, with engineers like this on bbmp rolls? The said issue has been taken up with teh local mla, multiple corporators - each one says - please svalpa adjust madkolli (please adjust some)

    Bangaloreans dont care about their city at the end of the day.
    At the time of posting this comment, this video had less than 80 comments after 48 hours of posting. If this was about Mumbai you would already have thousands of comments from concerned teenagers to very senior citizens. Here is everybody is too posh to give 2 hoots about public issues.
    Kannadiags come in 2 types:
    "I am so modern and posh that why should I care about this municipal public infrastructure issues of buses and roads. I only see my mansion and the fancy malls"
    "We dont care about all this modernisation in Bangalore. We like our village. We dont want all these modern things. You all can go somewhere else"

      Bangaloreans GAVE UP on their city longtime ago with scare from ruthless politicians, as they don't want to endup behind bars and loose job protesting the govt. A 3rd rate BJP Govt in Bangalore while in Delhi there is a 1st rate BJP govt. May be PM should look into this matter seriously and he can do some IT raids on these people as part of Swacha Bharath and Swatcha Bangalore.

    Pune is also headed in that direction. When I came in 1999 the city used to be dead by 8 PM. Winters were nice and chilly at times 4 degrees.
    Now we are facing the same issues. Floods, traffic and extreme climates.

      Climate of pune was really awesome. I visited multiple time in 90's and loved it but its charm vanished with pollution, traffic and mismanagement.

    Growth centers like Bengaluru should be developed in each other states so that the migrants stop flocking Bengaluru. As long as this is not done Bengaluru will continue to suffer and eventually get ruined.

      Practically people from.all over India *(including returning NRIs) want to "settle down" in Bengaluru buying either a 3bhk flat or an independent house on a 40x60...... there by sinking both the ground (and groundwater).
      Can't understand how Bommai (BJP) alone is responsible for the mess is beyond comprehension. *although we cant yet say Bommai will handle this properly.
      Hedge's idea of green belt was to curb reckless growth of the City without adequate infrastructure.

      There will always be a few metros where a higher percentage of the general population will be concentrated. Most of our metros apart from Bombay(MMR) and Delhi(NCR) have a population below 10 million and probably even below 5 million. Bombay has always had Its suburban trains(lifeline) and now the upcoming metro network while Delhi has a pretty extensive metro network built over the last 2 decades. Building infrastructure like good schools colleges and professional educational institutions, roads, uninterrupted 24 *7 electricity supply, city transport infrastructure to attract industry takes time and therefore it is imperative to recognise the potential of converting cities into metros. Traditionally port cities like Bombay, Madras and Calcutta were obvious choices for metros because of port infrastructure. Attracting industry is a difficult job. Take Taiwan for instance. They were hesitant to introduce semiconductor industries in India due to a lack of world class infrastructure. But the stars seem to be aligning in India's favor due to the prevalent anti China sentiment the world over.

      @@hotelcalifornia715 Rome was not built in a day. It takes decades to build an investor friendly state and city. The biggest problem with Indian metros( at least Bombay) is affordable housing which could be at the fringe limits of the city with access to good transportation like Bombay(MMR) or now Delhi(NCR) for that matter. We are still not a largely urbanized country as compared to Brazil.where close to 80% of the population lives in urban areas. They have favelas(like slums/chawls accomodation in Bombay) in Brazil where the crime rate is extremely high. I currently live in a Tier2 city called Mangalore in Karnataka state where electricity supply and charges are a joke. They have one of the largest renewable solar installations in Pavagada generating almost 2 GB ph in Karnataka state and electricity charges have increased thrice in the last 6 months to a year inspite of solar power being the cheapest form of electricity. Of course solar is non base power. In 2022 we still have load shedding or the electricity is disconnected for a few hours in a week. But renting a house/apt is cheap and there is a lot more money for discretionary spending. Businesses will still be attracted to these type of cities because their fixed costs are low.

      Corporates should move or open offices in small cities like vizag, bhubaneswar, Pune, ahemdabad, Lucknow etc. For that the state governments should take appropriate measures but every where the govts are busy with free bees and local politics, who cares about local talent utilisation, employment, upgrading education standards, skills

    In Electronic city i met few veterans like local barber, one of my manager, etc. They often reminiscence that place before IT boom saying it was lush green, nothing less than Ooty or Chikmagalur. Now I'm feared of rapid urbanization of native Mangalore/Udupi. I seriously don't give F about those mighty fancy campuses, work from home is blessing, please encourage it.

    Sir, this is an excellent commentary and was very revealing to me. As a frequent commuter to NYC I can appreciate the points that you are making. However your statement that water rationing was “unheard of” when you were growing there was rather surprising. I grew up in Basavanagudi, arguably one of the nicest neighborhoods, in the 70’s and early 80’s. Water supply was intermittent at best and a rarity at worst. I distinctly remember having to stand at a public water pump with a bucket during a family function because the BWSSB guy had decided to turn off the water to our neighborhood. Bangalore is paying a price for its enormous success. There is not a single large office here in the US that does not have a wall clock showing the Bangalore time (along with NYC, LON and TOK). I’m sure a vast majority of Bangalore residents will definitely not want to go back to the romantic 70’s and 80’s that you describe. However every point that you have made re bad administration is spot on

The city as many old people describe was extremely beautiful... Forget development and all these nonsense IT industry... We don't want other language people here..     I live in Tokyo and I often visit Delhi and Bengaluru. Even after living 5 years in Tokyo I am often amazed by how well planned the Tokyo city is. In Tokyo, 66% people use trains to commute to work, 12% use bicycle and 10% walk to office. Only 3% use cars to go to office. When I go to office I walk to metro train station in the morning which takes about 5 minutes (for most people it takes more time and even park their bicylces near train station or take a bus to train station). Then I take train to the metro station near to the office which takes about 10 minutes for me. And then again I walk to the office which takes 15 minutes for me. So, in the journey of 30 minutes I walk 20 minutes! For most of my colleagues metro station journey takes 30-60 minutes. Because of walking Tokyo people are healthy as well as Tokyo air is very clean. Even CEOs etc. take metro trains.

    Very true.....bangalore was so beautiful when I visited back in 2009. Now it has changed so much. When my uncle used to study in IISc in 1990s, I heard him saying that the city is clean, peaceful and crime-free in those days.

    Most relevant talk and analysis . Urban planning all over the country is in a mess and most of the reasons are the same as told by mr. Raj Chennappa ! I remember the Bangalore of the eighties and now I dread going there . The sweet memories of walking down the MG road would be ruined. Thank you for this very very meaningful video .

    Root cause of all problem is that corrupt greedy politicians in 90s allowed private people to create layouts. They were called "Revenue sites" or plots created just for revenue generation and as an investment option for the rich. These people bought bits and pieces of land from farmers and created layout within their boundaries without thinking about water flow, road connection to outside world. This created lot of dead end locked roads and rainwater had nowhere to flow near the boundaries.

    Raj Chengappa sir!! Not just floods. Simple stuff like footpaths are not there anywhere!! Some rough stones over drains is what’s called‘footpaths’!! That too, riddled with encroachments! Entire city is so filthy and Bommai is simply indifferent like all other predecessors, irrespective of their Party!!

      @@coolguy-zm7tn A contractor recently committed suicide alleging in his suicide note that the minister asked for 40% cut money. He said that the rate has increased much more in the BJP government. This is just one instance of commission-khori. Even a letter was written to the PM about this, but he did nothing about it. It's well known that there's a 40% commission government in Karnataka. That's why communal issues are deliberately flared up to hide the commission-khori by the government.

      please address the CORRRUPTION of the citizens also - foot paths are treated as their own property and u can see how foot path outside houses is fortified with a fence for gardening, parking. what baffles me is the various heights of the houses that causes the owners to raise the height of the footpath at will - thus this makes the footpaths totally unusable for seniors and differently abled. It is nto fun to walk on footpaths step up - step down - the steps are uneven also.
      what can i say about garbage - garbage dumping, lack of consideration, indifference.
      What can I say about traffic on the roads - where everybody wants to leave to work 5 minutes late and 5 minutes sooner.
      what can i say about citizens indifference to contribute to civic issues

    It's a fact of presentation. Twin Cities plan can reduce burden like Mumbai and Pune. Hyderabad, secunderabad and Cyberabad.
    Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad

      Exactly. Bangalore should have planned satellite cities such as Navi Mumbai for Mumbai, Pimpri Chinchwad for Pune, Gurgaon and Noida for Delhi for planned development. Otherwise you can expect mass reverse migration from Bangalore towards other cities.

    Bangalore has problems similar to any other rapidly expanded city, everybody saw an opportunity and exploited it for their benefit, we just cannot blame politicians and escape from it. The greed behind our actions is projecting it's ugly face.
    Today's troubles are the result of yesterday greed actions !
    Hence, we have to live with the plus and minuses of Bangalore as it is the only City in Karnataka where your dreams become a reality !

      Properly said. I’ve seen the population of London, so, imagine, if London had no tubes trams and overground rail, the city would be in the same trouble as Bengaluru. And they only want to point out politicians from Karnataka, I do agree, but have they thought of the other states as well? It’s unfair the way they speak. I’m not defending Karnataka politicians by the way. And about 3 points of why people re-locate and establish themselves in bengaluru, he missed one point, the people are most welcoming.

    Thank you for bringing the urban issues of India to the fore. Not only Bangalore, sadly this is the story of whole of India, big cities or small towns or villages. The mess we see today around us, tells the story of continued absence of strong visionary, social, political, environmental and economical leadership in country. Unfortunately the lessons from the colossal destruction leading to some irreparable damages are still not learnt. If the country does not wake up and take definite and committed action now, a time will come soon when most of Indian cities will become unliveable.

    Things are bad becoz other Indian States aren't progressing. There is huge migration from Uttar pradesh, bihar, bengal, Rajasthan, mp, jharkhand, chattisgarh etc becoz these states don't have any city.
    Indian government needs to develop cities like indore, bhopal, jaipur, lucknow, kanpur, patna, ranchi and make these cities industrial Hub so that development is spread out.
    This isn't happening at all. Jndian govt. is more interested in hindu muslim, azaan, hijab, halal etc.

      When covid happened 2years ago whole world not jut india saw how desparate biharis moved from Maharashtra, Gujarat way back to their villages in bihar. There is no comparison between migration between mumbai to delhi and from bihar to mumbai/delhi/pune/hyd/bengaluru/chennai etc.
      Also migration from tamilnadu, karnataka, andhra ro Mumbai used to happen in 1970s. Even in that time Shiv Sena used to mock tamilians by saying "threw these lungiwalas out of our mumbai. Jai Maharashtra" But Tamilnadu politicians instead of ignoring peoblem like what up and bihar politicians ususally do tried to solve problem by bringing industries in Tamilnadu. So outward migration from Tamilnadu to Maharashtra STOPPED long way back.
      Next similarly kannadigas used to migrate to delhi, mumbai. Then shiv sena targeted them. So SM Krishna developed IT industry in bangalore.
      Now hyderabad got developed. So there is very less migration between these megacities.

    Bangalore should not have allowed development of outer ring road. The IT industry started in electronic city. Further development should only have been allowed only in electronic and places locate outside the city. And those places should have been connected with suburban railway. the reason for all the problems of Bangalore is congress. they are greedy and lazy.
    Bangalore's strength is corruption and anti labor policies.

      I have been to banglore,people have made huge buildings,but never considered roads!
      The problem of banglore is its roads are the size of what residential streets in delhi are
      Look in delhi/mumbai/channai they have made 6lanes of roads to pass traffic from centre & added MRTS,metro,BRT system
      Banglore authorities have let go off development,now enroachment & its related prblem only exist

    Also the roads are the worst in Bangalore among all major Indian cities.And the irony is the local govt charges the highest RTO and road tax in the country…Not sure how is this being allowed.. Where all that money goes to whose pocket.. I think if they fix the roads half of the traffic issue will be resolved..But we don’t see any efforts being made to improve the condition of the roads…

    For anyone who aspires to be CM of Karnataka, they have to win the state as a whole and the number of seats from Bengaluru aren’t consequential enough to win power. As a result, politicians come to power on the basis of caste calculations and populist agenda in rural seats. Once in power, politicians become busy grabbing a slice of Bengaluru’s juicy real estate deals (where these regulations are thrown out of the window) and liquor economy, while their sons flaunt Range Rovers and scare IT guys in the pub.
    Nobody is accountable today for Bengaluru, the traffic is also just about moving only because of the Traffic Police (salutes to them).

I worked and lived in all metros in India.Presently I am in Bengaluru and waste daily two hours just to travel 9 km a side. Also worst traffic police and civic administration.     My respect sir, atleast some ppl are talking about this madness. When the ring road was first laid i was one of the kids who thanked God for such a wide Road. I was probably one among the first to use the ring road from kr puram to marathalli to learn to ride a bicycle when it wasn't completely open for vehicles to ply. The current scene makes me regret looking at the ring road. Lakes & greenery disappeared giving way to high rise apartments creating so much water shortage, dust, heavy traffic. We are choking Bengaluru slowly & also at a fast pace. I wish some thing could be done before it becomes another Mumbai or Delhi.

      NCR is is much better condition.. These cities have already figured out a lot of issues mentioned in the video. Pollution is the only problem in NCR, but NCR supports a much larger population compared to Bangalore. Delhi is soon going to be world's number 1 City in terms of population.     Dear Chengappa, you have done an excellent job and have captured all the vital points. As you have rightly pointed out, corruption has spoilt Bangalore. Suburban rail and metro needs to go up exponentially. Metro to airport from Whitefield and electronic city is badly required and will take the main load of the roads. But the governments i feel are taking bribes and postponing it.

    Sir, with all due respect, India needs to be strict on corruption, it's not just in backward states, it's everywhere. In every government project, everyone involved in the project has a cut, and you won't get your job done if you pay everyone concerned with either looking over a project or inspecting it. If India wants to go anywhere, we will have to tackle corruption first. I mean, in places like Bangalore (lived there from 2012-2017) cops won't take your fir if they don't feel like it, or if they feel that you are not "local enough". My home state is another case of total corruption, you might have to pay the cops to get an FIR, and pray that the other party does offer him more to not take the case.

    In the last few years, due to people action, Ive seen more lakes being revived than being destroyed so many lakes near sarjapur are so clean and great waking areas. There are things to be put in place, but It still remains the best cities in India. Another improvement which can be done is for the state government to build huge car parkings throughout the outer ring road. and make the area within the ring road as totally car free. That way there will be huge potential for growth

    I lived in Banglore in the early 80s in Rajaji Nagar. It was a beautiful place filled with parks and great roads .My happiest memories are going up the road and skating downhill as we were learning to skate.We had wonderful neighbors….It’s sad to see the chockablock roads a d the nightmare it is now

    I first visited Bangalore in 1977.
    Quality of life was at its peak.
    I want to suggest few points
    Bangalore is blessed with ample rainfalls. Rain water goes into drains.
    Rain water harvesting must be mandatory. All schools, colleges, universities, Sheds, Govt buildings ,namma metro must have
    Rain water harvesting.

    After the second wave of COVID, I went back to Bangalore to vacate as I was working from my native in Andhra. After nearly 2 years of working from home when I was going to my rented house in Indiranagar from Bangalore airport, this is what I felt "man I hate this city's traffic it's downright depressing. I don't even want to come back to this".

    Part of the problem of Bangalore is that quite a few of the imported talent doesn’t think of the city as their home. They aren’t invested in the city, they’re not registered to vote and don’t vote in local elections. This is perceived as apathy which allows the local politicians to treat Bangalore as a cash cow, whose resources are used to fund widely populist policies aimed at an electorate outside Bangalore which helps in elections.
    India a today office used to just opposite both Raj’s and my alma mater - Bishop Cottons Boys’ School.
    Unfortunately, the problems of Bangalore have been going on for a while. These were conveniently ignored by the media, till …….. the ultra rich and CxOs of large and MNC companies suffered what many Bangaloreans have been suffering for quite some time.
    I trust media will continue focus on our city, long after the lives of the movers and shakers return normal.

      The imported talent came/continues to come for selfish reasons viz to get ahead in career, make money and use Bangalore as a gateway to go abroad 💩😈. Whats the pont in registering them as voters? Even if they were to vote they'd vote for whoever represents their selfish interests.
      Outside talent coming to Banglore is good as long as - (1)they are reasonably talented (2)they dont politics (3)local talent is not ignored. But unfortunately if you see the talent coming in nowadays, it's friends & relatives of those settled here who 'clique' togther to keep out good, fresh talent including local talent.
      I'm not against talented people coming to Bangalore from outside, they can be sent to tier2 cities of Karnataka to develop them like Bangalore. But IMHO, Bangalore needs more local youth take up high-tech & management jobs and political careers so they can guide the development of Bangalore.

    I travel 15 km everyday to office and it takes 1 hr and not to mention the potholes. I have met with accidents thrice in 6 months. Metro and flyover construction is just one excuse for traffic jam. If they would have been serious they would have atleast filled all the pot holes. In the 15 km journey there are at least 70-80 big potholes and I am talking about main Bangalore area in HSR- Kudlu Gate - Electronics City. I think the officials and Ministers are either really corrupt or they just don't care.

    Lets also put it this way .bengaluru alone contribute around 43 % of Karnataka's GDP . such metropolitans in every state absorbs the extra burden of entire state and contributes to the economy. these cities are also the life providers aligning both cultural and new style landscapes. We need to understand this and look out for a way to decongest and re energise our cities . for it Tamil nadu model of multiple clusters can be replicated.

    Greed . IT saw builders from Andhra and North flocking to Bangalore. They corrupted the govt agencies and simple villagers built massive buildings and brought the denigration of the beautiful city. Now the city is committing suicide.

      Corruption happens when one is willing to get corrupted. The villagers were greedy enough to make overkill have more money than justified hence they sold there lands. Same is happening all over India so the blame is to be equally shared by sellers and buyers and builders.

    They can also explore the nearby Hosur in Tamil nadu which also has an airport in Hosur. It is easy to extend the Metro to Hosur. Even Singapore has a housing colony in the bordering malaysia. This will also help use the airport in Hosur which is atleat one third the distance to the electronic city compared with the distance from the Kempagowda airport

    Someone correctly said "Bangalore is paying the price of its success"
    That's the truth. The greed for allowing more and more companies come into Bangalore and trying to boom it's economy to infinity, is the reason for growing corruption, constrained natural resources and bring it to a position where it is today.
    Bangalore should have stopped ingress of new companies some decade ago, without being greedy, but could have acknowledged its limitations. This would have i) saved the city from nature's fury and shortage of natural resources ii) forced new companies to select other prospective states which could have grown at par iii) caused even distribution of economic status across the country iv) impacted a direct blow to petty and large corruption's as investors would have more options v) allowed many more employees to be with their parents.
    This is true for every state/City like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai..... Limit the ingress of more companies once your plate is full .....else everyone will ride this same boat.

    Even as a non-engineer we could see the city going to drains... They balantly killed the city. They butchered it with bad governance and cut all trees, occupied all lakes and while make roads made just 2 lane new roads.
    It was soo painful to see. From indiranagar to manyata techpark there were no high rises and only clutter clutter clutter . Shear greediness and those PPL should be punished

    The City of Toronto, Canada has a CEO type of leadership. This city is ranked the 8th best city out of more than 150 cities in the world by The Economist. Plenty of greenery including a giant park right in the middle of the city. The city has an excellent waste disposal system. It also has the world's largest underground shopping complex(super huge). Excellent educational and health infrastructure. The City is a model for rapid response to snow storms. And much more. Best of all -- No corruption.

      @@bhmglam317 I agree but the traffic and road plannings are definitely not that much big of a problem in Chennai. Government did a fantastic job in building many flyovers as it is called the city of flyovers so it reduces traffic. But urban planning is not at all well done in Chennai that's why there is a lot of water getting stagnated when monsoon comes every year. Literally there is no way for water to join the ocean or sea.

If we had bangalore type of rains chennai would have been destroyed beyond repair.     It’s also important to note that no home buyers would want to buy a piece of land or dream home where it is a govt land, litigation etc and every home buying goes through loan process and verified by authorised banks and lawyers and no issue was raised during registration and now govt is processing the vacating of encroachments based on old map and irony is no govt or judiciary would want to hear the plea or struggle of these middle class people who are loosing their life long savings in the form of a home. The govt and judiciary should make provisions to get compensation from the real culprits who sold these lands including govt agencies instead of targeting only home owners. And it’s also important to look at what’s practically, technically and logically viable at this point of time to solve the issues and take necessary stringent action to avoid these situation is not reoccurred in future. Unfortunate that the people who go through this situation is less in number and mainly middle class single home owners who still pay EMI, property tax and income tax and now can’t afford another home for their life and no one is there to support them.😢

    The city has grown too far beyond any redemption. There was so much hype around it and still it is there. Even after being proven time and again that the city lacks all characteristics of a metro, big corporations are going in there like lemmings. Herd mentality at work.
    NRN’s suggestion that a strong CEO with elected representatives to support him will solve the civic issues shows much he is removed from reality. The only solution is to stop new offices being set up and relocate those already there on a last come first out basis. The so called development of the city should stop immediately. First work out a way to deal with nature and then restart development using what one has learnt.

    I had stayed in Bangalore for around 6 years, I feel Bangalore is great and one of the best city in the country. Only issue I feel is metro system needs to be developed like Delhi. Govt. Should offer incentives for companies to set up in tier-2 nearby cities like Mysore, Mangalore, etc.

    Beautifully put together. Due to a sudden boom in population, the civic authorities became helpless. Hence,ORR became a concrete jungle. That exposed the infrastructure loopholes in BLR. Rapid and ill planned development has resulted in what we see now.
