Paul publicly called out people all the time. While it might undermine one person's faith, another is strengthened by a Church upholding Biblical principles when the sin is discovered. The New Testament model is Elders or 'Overseers' with specific qualifications who share responsibility in leading the church and protect the flock, including from another corrupt elder. The 'one main man' model puts a huge bulls eye on that person and his family - not wise.

There must be consequences for sin the guilty do not go unpunished. However we should not give up but acknowledge, confess and repent. Always examine what made you stumble less we stumble again. We should, pray and encourage him to raise up again because satan had planned it for a long time. On the other hand it's a wake up call that we shouldn't be fully relying on others to study the Bible but we should work hard to personally study because the Holy Spirit is our personal teacher.

Repentance in Hebrew is "te shu va", which means to reject all sin to "return" to God, fully darkness to fully light. If we repent God is faithful and just to forgive our sin and purify us from all unrighteousness, 1John 1. But we have to sincerely turn away from it. God sees your heart.
The problem is we look at some sins as respectable and others as serious. If more pastors speak out and preach against sin, and hold people equally accountable then it becomes easier to hold pastors accountable and if we speak the truth IN LOVE WITH THE PURPOSE OF RESTORATION then we may see people living a more consistently holy life. This was the worst news for me. I read it in the morning and my entire day was spoiled because of it. Sometimes it is just so confusing that people who were such great spiritual help for you, go through extremely rough times and it does impact a lot. Though I have learnt a lot from his sermons, I believe that we all must pray a lot for all those who are serving the Lord and have a huge responsibility. Satan is truly behind spoiling the testimonies of Pastors. They pray for us and fulfill our spiritual needs. We all should also raise them up in Prayers.

It's not Scriptural to ban a pastor if he's been repentant and comes forward on his own. The size of the church has no bearing in this matter. No, people's REPENTANCE is not up for publicity and nowhere does it say it in Scripture. David was the one who made his sin public and his murder was a public sin.
