Sen Taiyo You shouldn’t be scared of goin on a cruise. It’s literally a floating city almost, you don’t even feel the boat moving at all. I highly recommend goin on one in your lifetime it’s very relaxing and enjoyable.

I don’t think I would’ve survived for that long in the open ocean. I just watch these survival videos to help me know that failing a test is not the worst thing in the world.
I have a family member that survived 2 weeks on the open sea in a life raft because of a ship wreck. Nothing like 76 days but I thought it's cool that he was able to survive that.
I remember I saw this on I Shouldn't Be Alive, I fell in love with those documentaries! The last time Infographics show made a survival video I suggested making a new video about Steven, I'm glad they listened and made it! Great video! Loved it!
I'm not a fan of the ocean and never have been, I'm a land guy. Although it does have its moments. Also, I think it's been proved sharks are overestimated in their aggressiveness and likeliness to eat you. Though, this is no less impressive than a legend becoming a reality. Respect for the man and how he didn't let it negatively affect him after being rescued.
There’s another similar story where a fisherman named José Salvador Alvarenga survived 438 days lost at sea. He and a friend got lost on a fishing trip and the friend got sick and died. He was sued for $1 million because the family of his friend he was lost with accused him of eating his friend.
I know that case. Different scenarios, he was on a boat, not a sinking raft for start. Also he had all the tools he needed when he left the port. This guy had just what he could pick in a hurry. Also the Mexican had another partner who he ate when he died. That's a grim bonus 😂
Alex Very you mean tools he threw out of his boat right on the very first day? So I guess picking up plastic bottles around the sea he found is what he prepared all along...
My great uncle, Robert tinninnienko was a the only survivor of a 74 day long capsize on the ocean with only a jar of peanut butter and a can of sardines. My grandpa was with him, but died after they were rescued. The boat was turned over so they carved a hole on the bottom of the boat. They drifted from Oregon to 500 miles past Hawaii. You can look up his name if you want. It happened a long time ago
If you want to watch a movie similar to this ordeal, watch the movie All is Lost. The circumstances of that movie mirror the ones in this video including ship damage, life raft, using a sextant and getting passed by ships while adrift. It's terrifying to be that person alone at sea.
He struggled with thirst more than anything. The constant desire to drink more than what he set as rations was overwhelming. The little water he struggled to collect was quickly down his gullet as soon as it was obvious he had been spotted by the fishermen. Because of this He declined the fishermens offer of fresh water when rescued. They thought that was strange. Also when in the hospital one of his first things to eat was Fish . Ha! He ate it without complaints.
Yeah sure this guy was lost at sea for 76 days but tell that to Salvador Alvarenga who was lost at sea for 438 days going out to sea in November 2012 and not stepping back on land until January 2014
original story told by Steven says that the water purifier did actually work, after not working at first. he did not have to rig a few balloons together
I remember when the man told his story on I Shouldn’t Be Alive
Omfg same that's actually the story that got me into the wonder channel XD
I subbed
ChilliDawg oh you never actually watched it when it aired on tv
I litetally watched that whole episode like 2 weeks ago.
YOOO the odds, i just watched that!!!!!
left his wife

Thought the same thing. Now he's a bestselling author and naval savant!
@Jania then he became famous for the rest of his life
Jania but he lost weight and wrote a book 😑
Jania idk what you’re talking about. Tons of people want to be famous and with him being a a best selling author he’s probably kind of wealthy.
You can watch a reenactment of this on TH-cam. Just look up "I Shouldn't Be Alive: Lost At Sea for 76 Days".
I watched that too. And a lot of the series 😂 so interesting
I seriously think the I shouldn’t be alive are some of the best videos on the whole site.
