my dad got a mop that makes steam so you just need water and nothing else. it's especially good if you have small children as chemicals can irritate their lungs
thank you so much for making this! im turning 20 soon and i just got married to my husband who ive been with since we were young (12 years old) . We recently got our first home, had an apartment before this, and im soooo confused on how everything works and i want it to feel homey for the both of us and our pups! so thank you for this, so much💙
The loved the series of the book Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. It was a game changer for making and adjusting recipes. One of the best things I do in my home is to paint with semi-glass paint: so much easier to wipe clean and move on.
I personally love vacuuming and am obsessed with my Shark vacuum 😆 and I also have more carpet than tile/hardwoods so I steam mop every other month, but so true that there's many gadgets to make our lives more efficient. I think you should've also mentioned making a schedule for yourself to divide cleaning tasks throughout the month 😊
I like the idea of this type of video. However everything you listed is connected to spending money. 1. Buy gadgets 2. Buy a book 3. Buy decorations There has to be a way to improve your homemaking with what you already have. Not everyone is at liberty to simply buy a new steam vacuum cleaner for example.
Can you talk in an upcoming video about how to decorate while having young children. Their toys are always to ugly! Haha! But obviously I want my son and future children to enjoy their home and have fun! Love your content!!! ❤
Dobie by Scotch-Brite is an excellent dish sponge substitute. I recommend. I dont know what sponge daddys are. But you know, any sponge will go bad quickly if you leave it in the sink, soaking wet and sitting in food waste. Seriously. Rinse out your sponges when youre done with them, squeeze them dry and hang them up somewhere they wont get wet until your next use. If you want to take it a step further, use two sponges: one older sponge for heavy duty filth that trashes your sponge (and leaves your dishes a little greasy still), and one newer, cleaner sponge to finish off with the fine cleaning. This way you dont have to throw out old sponges too soon, and you keep your newer ones cleaner for longer.
As someone who also wasn’t raised in a household where cleaning was a big priority, I really appreciate this video! I got the rona a couple of weeks ago so I have faced exhaustion and haven’t felt up to cleaning and this video really encouraged me to get some things done today, so thank you! I love videos like this, and I would also LOVE to see another Cooking with Abby episode sometime in the future! Those are super fun 😊 Edit: I ended up buying that daily checklist workbook for homemaking you mentioned in a video a long time ago. It’s been so helpful!
My issue with fake candles is that they never give off the same amount of light as real ones, so you still need overhead lights, lamps, etc. around the room. I use a lot of candles and especially this time of year when it's dark for 20 hours a day (not an exaggeration, I live very far north) I use them to make the house feel warmer and brighter without spending exorbitant amounts on electricity. Otherwise I absolutely LOVE everything you've said here! I actually have SALT FAT ACID HEAT on order, just waiting for it to come in!
I think you should do everything to make your work easier. I flick the duster once a week and the dishwasher runs every day. Because our apartment is very large, I wanted a vacuum and floor mopping robot and I'm so relieved to have it. I can read, shop or do something else while everything automatically cleans up. I also find it helpful to set the timer to 10 minutes and clean up quickly so that the biggest mess is eliminated.
A steam mop vacuum is an absolute game changer! I got my Bissell one about 7 or 8 years ago and love it so much. I love topics like this one as I'm also looking for ways to save time and energy. Thanks for sharing!
Scented cleaners all the way. 🙌 My house cleanliness status went up at least 2 points when I found one I liked. Now I use a Castille soap/lavender one - more natural but still smells good. No more of the bleach and 409 of my childhood. 😅
Been on a social media break but back and love to watch your videos. Never fails to give good advice. refreshing content ❤ happy Hanukkah too ! Is that the correct statement ? I want to learn more about Jewish faith ,culture traditions.😊thanks
