Why not go 8410 up on that second settle? I feel like Pern would take that Wheat port if he ran for it and it'd only be one extra road to get it... Nevertheless as usual, KILLER insight Dandy!

As red I would've gone 8.4.10 and 6.9.3, wood port, city on the wood and I'd be COOKING on devs ❤ it's a really fun setup and there's so much tradability on the sheep.
Definitely could work but I would argue it might be a bit slow since you will be trade your sheep to the other OWS players who can easily out play you on army. To get that setup up and running, you will need a road settle (with no brick) and a city to have your port production be feasible. Against really good players who have the ore and wheat, you are likely going to be too slow.
@@dandydrewI felt inspired by a game you played called "Catan pro plays the legendary 693 wheat pile in ranked" which was a similar setup but it was reliant on the wheat port instead of the wood port. Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to link the video. ❤ I always forget that there are other players at the table who I'm competing with.😂
Wanted to pop in real quick, sorry if this has been answered before, but what Catan program are you playing on? I tried to get my friends on Catan Universe, but the issues sandbagged me. This one looks great!

19:30 The trade gives black another dev when they're already ahead, and the city gets your 6 targeted with no knight protection, then you're still praying for an 11 and a trade to settle later. Black with 2 nonknights could also get this player's 3:1 plowed unexpectedly.
I usually understand the city-first approach. But I'm curious why you wouldn't suggest the settle more aggressively here, I feel like trading for the wheat and getting that settle out of the way solves more problems than the city.
There are consistent frameworks in how to play this game effectively. Should you always and only use them? No, but for most learning player, having a structured way to approach a setup is helpful. As you improve, you can learn to pivot from a plan and have good strategic reasons to do so. Reminds me of one of the recent OWS games where I went popping in the dev deck over the early city because 1. I needed pacing and 2. There was enough ore and wheat on the board to make the city build easy after securing army. Ultimately, Pern played great but missed an opportunity to get momentum because he left the plan that his setup was built to fulfill.

how do you do replays? dont they disappear after your game ends? and wouldnt the replay be on pernapple's screen, not yours?
Replays are a new feature on Colonist and this game was recorded before replays. That being said, I won’t be able to use my student’s replays since these are screen recorded games.
