    Never comment on these, but I feel that I should on this one. Probably your best video to date. I’ve loved the daily and weekly videos of the stand, but this for me is the best to date. Well done, you have left all others trailing behind you with this exceptional video

    It's mind-blowing seeing the changes. I went to Anfield back in April for the first time in about 20-odd years and the Main Stand is really impressive in person but seeing these pictures gives me an appreciation for the scope of what needed to be done to build it

    Boss video!. I'm an Anfield resident and Liverpool fan, found this fascinating, it did highlight something else for me. Those beautiful Victorian houses were tinned up for years, the area blighted by the clubs policies, artificially running down what was a nice residential area. Even now there's large empty plots around the ground where perfectly good houses have been demolished and nothing built. The club has an attitude of "we'll get round to it when it suits our business need" meanwhile the area is left blighted. There needs to be some urgency, the club has a moral responsibility to help put the area back together again x

    • @Kevcupo
      @Kevcupo  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah I’ve looked in to that land, it’s actually owned by the council and it’s up for tender. I expect to hear something in 2024 about that land

    • @TheLiverpolitan
      @TheLiverpolitan 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Kevcupo that land was given to the council by the club after the club emptied all the houses previously on that land. I reiterate I love the club but they've got a lot to answer for with regard to the surrounding area, Anfield gets all the downside to having a stadium: noise, congestion, pollution, rubbish and none of the benefits, there needs to be much more consultation and investment. Get Anfield station reopened (something that will have to happen before any further stadium expansion can happen) sort Walton Breck Road out, give locals tickets for the summer concerts at the stadium etc x

      @@TheLiverpolitan the community has to make a stand like the Granby 4 Streets in Toxteth. Create a CLT, have picket lines at places you want to save, (best picket ever 15 years ago in L8... bizzies don't arrest elderly ladies who're picketing to save their community) protest about things that impact negatively. Maybe there are things already in place in L4.
      People power, people. There's nothing like it and this city is renowned for taking stands....and winning.

    Fascinating video, such a lot of work to make it. I love LFC and the city of Liverpool. I wish Selhurst Park will be given some TLC one day. In 1978 I wished Palace would win the cup one day too! so I'm not expecting anything anytime soon. Thank you KC.

      @user-mh7fr9dx9y. Years and years ago I lived in S Norwood and worked in Thornton Heath & walked past Selhurst Pk daily. They could always get rid of Sainsbury's 😂. Remember, to buy the houses off people will be four times as much in S London than it is in Anfield. That's a massive cost, plus imagine the chaos for commuting up Whitehorse Lane to Norwood Hill. It was bad enough 30 years ago. They'd be better off doing what Everton did and moving completely....

    I guess if we are to expand the Sir Kenny Stand then we will at least have to say Goodbye to Skerries Road and maybe more.There is no doubt the Sir Kenny needs redevelopment but I think if it is to be developed to mirror the main stand then your probably looking at two streets disappearing die to right of light laws for the Residents but personally I want the Kop to be the next stand to be redesigned and enlarged..For the most football stand on world football it now looks so small compared to the other stands.It must be relatively easy to heighten the kop , increase the pitch of the terrace from 26% to say 36% and therefore get several more rows of seats on the Kop as well as redevelop the cornor between the main stand and Kopwhich hopefully would add a further4,000 to 5,000 seats to the grounds capacity and still stay within the current perimeters of a 66,000 capacity ground in the area without impact the current traffic regulations .

    • @Kevcupo
      @Kevcupo  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good insight mate, but it does show how much more room is needed to expand further

    • @KopKing88
      @KopKing88 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @Kevcupo yes you don't realise how much extra land LFC have required to expand the Main Stand and the Annie Road..I hear that Liverpool own many of the properties on Skerries Road but not sure if that's the same on any other Roads in the area

    • @Dippers77
      @Dippers77 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think looking at the size of the main stand if your going to mirror the kds same as the main at least 3 streets would have to go you really see how big that main stand is now it's huge

    • @sukhjotesingh9613
      @sukhjotesingh9613 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Apparently we can go to 69,000 without impacting current traffic regulations according to Mo Chatra on his podcast.
      If the old freight line can be reopened & Converted to a train station would be great for fans & locals with less car traffic on match days.
      At present both Skd & the world famous Kop looks out of place, no symmetry.
      It would be quicker to demolish Skd & start again but our owners want the revenue to keep coming in.
      The club shop could be moved across the road with an underground tunnel so fans can get across safely whilst making it a bit different.

    • @TheAndriThor
      @TheAndriThor 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don´t think it will mirror the Main stand, the club will go with another design, it wont be quite as big as the Main stand and it doesnt have to, its the MAIN stand for a reason. And yes expansion of the SKD stand will happen, it will just cost that much more to aquire the properties needed and rightly so, everything has its price and the is just so much more money in football and behind the top flight clubs now. The clubs dont have any rights to the land and properties around them but they have the right of the free market and huge amounts will exchange hands before this is possible, FSG wont own LFC forever, I think they will sell between 20-30% of the club within the next 5 years just like that other team did. Upgrading and putting in new transit links will also take a long time but Im sure the club and council will get there.

  • @marksoutham3029
    @marksoutham3029 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Loved seeing this video and the changing face of that side of the ground. When you see the volume of terraced houses acquired and demolished to make way for the new stand then it begs the question "why wouldn't they do the same thing on the other side of the ground", with Skerries Road and Wylva Road?
    It brings back so many memories of walking those streets as kids, in the 60s, to go and watch the reds with a bag of chips and a bottle of pop. It was less than 5 shillings to get in and even cheaper if you went in the boys pen.

    • @Kevcupo

      @@Kevcupo Kev, it would be awesome if you could do some interviews with older people in the community too and integrate them with the visual history. Like you living in the community from time....only you're young! I mean the real oldies who remember the days of leather footballs, (the ones that really hurt if you got in the way!).
      People like you are so important to this city. If we don't record our history, we lose it and it becomes what someone else writes, mostly anecdotal, which isn't necessarily an honest account.

Didn’t know this function was on Google street maps but my age does me no favours 👴🏻 On the one hand it’s great to see the stadium develop but on the other I wonder where the families went to? No doubt the club would love to do the SKD and Kop and the same would have to happen for SKD? The Kop is different and would need maybe a tunnel for the road?? Anyhoos, keep up the good work lad, always great to watch your videos

    Thank you KC for a really insightful video. I found it fascinating. I have been to Anfield on 3 occasions during the 90's twice in old main stand & the Anfield road stand. I my first ever game was Liverpool v Arsenal & was sat in the area I think was called the paddock. Robbie Fowler destroyed the best defence in the previous season in just 4 mins & 33 seconds I believe it was. I digress. Seeing how the area has changed so dramatically is quite amazing & a bit mind blowing tbh. Thank you for taking the time to put that video together.

    Great video, thanks Kev. Really interesting perspective, and well put together. I will be interested to see your follow up when the Google car goes down the newly realigned Anfield Road.
    I wouldn't mind a look at the other side. Can you do one of what would likely be needed to build behind SKD stand? I figure everything back to Arkles would need to be demolished. As a selfish Liverpool fan, I'd love to see it, but as a socialist, it kills me to see quality housing and peoples homes being demolished.
    I can't see them doing the Kop. It'd have to go two tiers to justify the expense of building a tunnel/bridge over Walton Breck Road. Would fans accept a two tiered kop? It wouldn't be the same. I was thinking something like the mega-terrace at Marseille maybe would do it as a sort of single tier.

    • @Kevcupo
