that, was awesome!!!! I love how in depth you got with it. it's step by step. incredible video Sir, please keep making them. I'm downloading the app now and can't wait to try it with my mavic.
At last a decent plain English video explaining in detail how to map in 3D. Great work much appreciated. I would rather have a free to use mapping 3D platform that has adds in it as I've spent all my cash on the drones hehe. Still great video thank you.
After watching the video, I'm amazed at all the info you can get from a Mavic camera. The plant health looks as if you have done an NVDI photo with the Mavic camera! So amazing.
Finally, a real full tutorial to get high quality 3d mapping, in other vids they just like "to get the higher quality, you should do blablabla" and without them doing it
This looks very interesting, but I am wondering about the quality, its just that it didn't look right so not sure if it was the video or what, but like the trees next to where you parked your car, they looked like cones rather than trees.. and the sides of the building looked like it was painted on windows. guess I should try the trial unless that is truly what comes out.
hello :D boss the details of the building wasn't so clear even with 4K resolution photos how to build the exact real 3D building to export it to engineers for modifications ? can we use this method for this task? or you think there is better was to do that?
Dragon7 thank you for the video. And idea why the POI photographies are not included in the automatical flight ? Now did you guess they are needed ? Thanks.
Nice to hear you liked the video, thank you. Just after I posted this video, DroneDeploy updated the app to include the POI flight mode as a new feature. I knew the POI pictures were needed after doing some research and testing. Happy flying!
yes best video and best explanation. please also make videos on PIX4D and AGIsoft Photoscan softwares. or any other standalone system. Thumbs Up and subscribed. please keep it up
In your example, the terrain appears to be quite flat. If the property you are covering has much more uneven terrain, can the app be set to maintain a set height above the ground?
I hope this isn't a stupid question but where did it get the aerial photo of the building to start with? Google Earth? Or do you have to fly over it once and take a shot?
amazing, thx. I love the Mavic Pro, the easiest drone to fly. I got it last week, with a couple youtube videos I was up on the air, it handles very easy. impressive footage, I did my editing with Final Cut. EASY!!!!! all done in the same day. I went hiking; my bottle water was heavier then my Mavic Pro. I LOVE IT, great work DJI.
I really liked your video. how could the 3D model have been better. better apps? More poi at different elevations. a lower altitude for the first set of pics?
+David Mashiah I would recommend shooting at a higher altitude, and when there's less shadows. Increasing the overlap too, but I would mix too many changes so it will help you identify the best settings. Nice to know you liked the video. Happy flying!
I tried to use it today using my 3DR solo versus a DJI. I basically created an account and tried to upload my photos. It gave me an error stating at least 5 photos must be geotagged. The drone deploy app in conjunction with the DJI product must geotag. I'll try my mavic tomorrow. 😊
+Brendan O'Mara Yeah, its really cool to do it. Just make sure you know how to stop the flight path to regain control using the RC, just in case. Then restart to let her fly the whole mission automatically. Thanks for watching. Happy flying!
I'm not sure sure if the photo are geotag at all by the Mavic, but Dronedeploy figures out how to stitch the photos by using the overlap between photos. Hope that helps!
Eddison Araya I only fly as a hobbyist, but Mavic Pro appears to be adopted for commercial use due to its prevalence. You’d just need to make sure the mapping app supports it such as Drone Deploy.
Great job demoing this! I'm guessing the far end of the building distorted because the 180ft radius was a little short, the oblique orbit didn't quite cover the far end completely. I'm also very interested in both the NDVI (veg), and the volumetric, are both of these outputs included with standard processing or did you have to pay extra for them? Isn't a multispectral or modified RGB camera required for NDVI? Thx for the video, awesome!
Chris Campagnaro Everything shown in the video was part of the free trial. Sorry, don't know about your question regarding the type of camera. Happy flying!
Hi, great video. Thanks. Do you know the precision you can get from the 3D Model, planimetric (x,y) and altimetric (z) ? Is it possible to export the 3D Model to other formats (dwg, dxf, etc)
Great video. Nice to know that Drone Deploy works so well with the Mavic. We got our Mavic last week and are looking forward to incorporating it into our mapping business.
+Rick Marshall Yes, it flew flawlessly, just need to fine tune the setting in the app for overlap, height, etc. Nice to know you liked the video. Happy flying!
I've only tried it a few times, but the first time I tried it, the altitude was higher and it came out better. I did also did the POI shots at the higher altitude which might have been another key factor. Thanks for watching!
Dragon7 thank you sir ,may I concluded that. If my purposes of using drone are for architectural such as measuring the land ,3D mapping and contouring the land 1.i can use mavic pro which consider to be the lowest quality of drone that can use in that purposes 2. If I can have such as Dji phantom it would give me better quality 3.if I have only mavic pro how can I expect for the accuracy and quality 4.if I use mavic pro how can I get the best quality and accuracy Thank you so much
Question for you Dragon7, does DroneDeploy actually autofocus before starting taking the first picture? I tried it with PrecisionHawk and all the pictures are blurry (only noticed once the mission was downloaded.
Great video! Easy to understand. I have never used POI on my Mavic, and was wondering if the GO 4 app took the photos or were you tapping the shutter button during the circle of the building? Thanks, also a new Subscriber!
Hi Great Video. I'm told that the higher you go (300 feet + ) the better in terms of data resolution of the object you capturing. I will be experimenting with different heights to find out. Happy mapping.
That looks good to me. I will be getting my Phantom3 at the end of March and my question is, can I make a 3D map of hole on a golf course ? I birthday subscribe button as you make everything really clear
Just what I wanted to know, thank you, I was asked to map a couple of areas even before my Mavic arrived! (it has now!) This is exactly the route I was going to take and was waiting to sign up to DroneDeploy nearer the time, as their 30 day free trial of the Pro version has better options than the basic, and would like to know if the extra levels stay on the maps you have made after the trial is over?
I just got my Mavic the other day. While looking at the Litchi videos, I came across this in your playlist. I had no idea this app existed, and free. The video was great! Full of information, and has made me wanting to do some aerials of my own. Thanks!
+SteelTallon Congrats on getting a Mavic! You'll probably like my other video about the 360 panorama drone app. As a new pilot, take your time learning the DJI Go app, then later try these other apps. Enjoy! Happy flying!
At the top-left of the page where you uploaded your photos on the dronedeploy site, you'll see a time range for it to process and create the map. Thanks for watching!
Doesn't take more than a few minutes as it's simply a matter of overlaying the flight plan over the subject. However, you may want to fly variations of the flight plan with different overlaps to help make sure you get the best results.
Did you use Airshou to record? I been wanting to try this but didn't want to have any affects on the iphone while using it. Everytime I try to edit an airshou video, it blanks out for some reason.
+Juan Camilo Pinillos Duque Unfortunately, no option for that. Although you can do a screen recording using a separate tool. Nice to hear you like the video. Happy flying!
Nice video. However, what's the point of this app? One could just fly up there and take a video/photos of the building and end up with a better quality end product.
Totally understand that. But, in a commercial application, what would be the point? I only ask because I work for a commercial construction company and this particular app wouldn't be useful as far as I know more than just actual video and photo's. Very good video, though - don't get me wrong. :)
I'm a project manager/estimator in commercial construction and I use my drone for roof/tower inspections, jobsite overviews and things of that nature. I just don't know what this app would do to improve anything. Like I mentioned, very good video.
@@D7dronetech thank you for quick reply. Is there a limit to the free version? I read somewhere about maximum 500 images but is there a cap on how many maps you do? Again thank you for the reply.

on yeah. thumbs up and subscribed.
It's nice to know it was helpful. I really had a fun time with it, and the results are fun to see and share with friends.
how much is it after the 30 days trial? and does the mavic makes a nice job on this kind of missions? (windy conditions mostly)
So you still have to find out the price ;)
It’s free for the Explorer plan

Is there a way to created 3D without uploading photos, is there any other software which can be used offline to process the photos taken?
Awesome. Can I use the MA2 for corridor mapping as it has 10km range? Which software would be best between dronedeploy and DJI TERRA?
During the auto flight portion, what angle is the camera set to? Or is that automatic? Straight down, 45 degree angle, or what/

Hi quick question, can i have person or object counting with a drone?
hello,,, does this Drone Deploy works with mavic 2 zoom in 3d mapping??
im curious how did you record the screen? please let me know
I noticed you have an iPhone... What screen recorder are you using?
Thanks..is there a way to improve the 3D quality through further processing? It really isn't much use as it is.
I haven't used this app in a while, so maybe it's been improved?
Does this app work without being connected to the internet? I wanna use an app that can be used in the middle of no where.
what kind of app did you use to record your screen ?? Thanks !!

are you doing the picture taking during the poi mode?
Brian Alsobrook Both. App now incorporates the POI function.
Thank you for great information. I can't wait to try soon😊
Neat! Is there an option to take measurements of the building with the map data?
Got an answer to this?
Does this work with DJI Mavic Air 2?
No it’s not currently supported and unlikely will not be because I believe the MA2 software is written differently then the supported drones.
Dragon7 Drone Tech oh man! That sucks for me! Would have loved to have tried this!
Very well explained. Thanks!
Nice to hear it was helpful! Happy flying!
Will it work with a spark? Really great video
Robert Clavin The AppStore doesn’t list Spark :(
Very cool! And not far from where I am, in the 818. 👍🏻😬
Oh cool. Be sure to check my new video on a new 360 pano drone app. th-cam.com/video/VXwbnXM0PRI/w-d-xo.html
How long it took the data to process?
At the top-left of the page where you uploaded your photos on the dronedeploy site, you'll see a time range for it to process and create the map. Thanks for watching!
How long does it take you to plan the flight?
Doesn't take more than a few minutes as it's simply a matter of overlaying the flight plan over the subject. However, you may want to fly variations of the flight plan with different overlaps to help make sure you get the best results.
So is there any completely free 3d mapping app?
Try dronelink
That detail level is unacceptable and very poor overall. I would advice to try agisoft photoscan software, you'll get much better results
Is it free to use or does it run out after 30 days? Thanks!
It's free for the first 30 days, then runs out unless you pay. I just signed up to try it out, and have some fun with it as hobbyist. Happy flying!

awesome video sir!!!by the way,any other apps that we can use to do 3D mapping?
Thanks for your comment! This app is by far the most established and maintained app.
Nice walkthrough but, it looks like a building melted and dipped in donut glaze.
+Stroop That's funny, so true. It is still fun to try out from a hobbyist perspective. Thanks for watching!
Cool video. Can you Export the 3D map into an mp4 video also?
+Juan Camilo Pinillos Duque Unfortunately, no option for that. Although you can do a screen recording using a separate tool. Nice to hear you like the video. Happy flying!
Dragon7 thank you for your reply. So the share tool is practically a link foe the people to see the 3D model in their page?
Nice video. However, what's the point of this app? One could just fly up there and take a video/photos of the building and end up with a better quality end product.
