Yeahh or maybe people like me who have never heard of this game are literally just finding out about it, never seen one bit of marketing unfortunately it just came out of nowhere. Game looks really cool though.
There are plenty of games like this one that just sit on my wishlist. Selaco, Gloomwood, Incision, Supplice, Fortune's Run, Forgive Me Father 2, Beyond Sunset... And I don't play them because they are still in Early Access. I'm just done with Early Access games. It's that simple. I think the last one I purchased was Valheim and that turned out to be a really good choice because of the amount of content the game has and because of the amount of fun I've had playing with my friends. As for the rest of them, I'll just wait for the full release.
FPS? The way I'm playing it, it's basically Dishonored: The Knife Of Mobster City. :P The stealth is fairly basic. But mission 4 is ripped straight outta Thief. And the last one has a building to infiltrate with 8 or 9 sneaky and not so sneaky entrances. This would make even the bank heist of THIef 2 blush! If they can keep that up (and add a higher difficulty level), this is goona be a gem.
For me, I agree with all the points you mentioned, looks good, seems to play good etc. It's just not something I'm interested in playing. I might still get it to support them, but like many of these types of games, I'll play for a few hours and then never touch it again....such is ADHD I guess.

Yep, there ain't a big following around this genre so it isn't much of a surprise there's not that many immersive sims coming out either. And even if a high quality one does come out, it immediately goes under the radar. I mean, system shock remake came out over a year ago. The best immersive sim of recent years and undoubtedly the best remake of 2023. Screw resident evil 4 and silent space remake, THIS is the game which deserved a remake. In fact, it's such a great remake that it's easy to rank it at the top of the list of remakes, among mafia definitive edition and resident evil 2 which are to this day still considered the best remakes of all time. But you guessed it, despite all this "huge talk", the community of this game is kind of small. Why? It's an immersive sim. Newblood tend to use early access in a similar way to how shareware used to work. 2 reasons why the player count is low. 1. No advertisement. 2. I hate to say it but no matter how original or good indie singleplayer games are, some people just want MP games. Most of your community probably doesnt fuck with anything that isnt survival or tactical shooters. No disrespect to the devs. Its art and it looks great but I personally wouldnt touch it just cause its singleplayer. Singleplayer games have great stories and such but when you cant really talk to other about it, they kinda of lose their luster. Maybe I'm wrong cause theirs people who enjoy niche books and foreign films and they dont have many people to talk about them and they dont care what other think. I wish the devs the best.
It went up to $12.99 during summer sale 😅 I mean it is still probably worth it but it's funny that while everything goes down or remains the same price they decided to increase the price. Sales must have been going little too well with quite a few TH-camrs reviewing this.
The combat looks incredibly boring. Looks like the game “Facade” levels of animation (for the enemies) 8:06 walking around in the dark “this is so awesome” bud you’re not doing anything.
Seems like a fun game but the art style of this game is just ugh... 😵💫Give me gzdoom pixels or anything else, i never liked hand drawn style graphics.
I'm going to be blunt here, not everyone will like this game. Casual Players will not play this, cause they love their Candy Crushers. Hardcore Players are waiting for Doom The Dark Ages, so they wont be bothered to get this game. Now Nostalgic People for the old FPS feel, they will be the customer base for this and no one else. I'm a Gamer myself but this kind of game doesn't tick my interest, i mean using None A.I. generated assets and Hand Drawn are good talking points sure. But i'm gonna give it a solid pass, cause it's not a game i can see myself enjoy. No offense.
no it's mainly marketing. tons of these games fall off hard because nobody ever learns they exist. If they properly marketed this game they would find a solid strong playerbase within their niche
@@KA-vs7nl I remember this game being featured in one of those event streams where they showcase game trailers and stuff plus even me someone who wanst even interested heard of this game before its launch. Its Just that its 2024 and people want multiplayer PvP fps games where they can spend their money and time on. Single player fps games are just not going to be as sucessiful as the competitive ones period, regardless of how much work or how authentic it is. Its a shame but its todays market.
What's kinda funny is that new blood has been showing this game off for sometime. And it was even in one of the summer of games showcase. I think it just got overlooked by all the other indie games releasing. Itll probably end up blowing up on steam like ultrakill did later down the line.
Some people are still thinking this game is never going to release. Where are they going to get the news? TH-cam doesn't run game ads from anyone but giant companies. There is no E3 anymore.
Bro, I just released my video on this yesterday! I'm loving it! The voice acting is perfect, the tone is spot-on, the stealth system works, the immersive sim elements are rad. My only complaint is that the narrative is basically just The Watchmen.
I never even knew this game existed... like, this has completely gone under my radar or whatever you say. This looks fuckin' amazing, and i'm definitely gonna buy it before the current sale ends!
Why is it surprising that no one is playing it? I never even heard of it until this video. I surf steam once every few months but never heard of it. The art style is cool tho. One game I enjoyed playing back in the PS2 days was XIII and it had the comic book style
Sure they are art when the video game is actually original content and original idea perhaps even. But the problem in gaming industry these days is that people smack place holder assets together and has just enough coding skill to make it work. Games never go forward, they never get finished, they never get original looking because of the fact that they just use those damn assets. I dont care about using assets as place holders for own content, but if you play to build a whole game on assets? fuck off. And people keep supporting these games and wonder why gaming industry has gone to shit. P.S Even this game is using obviously the same animations and what not but at least its using own creation of it and not just straight up what he got from asset pile.
I had it in my wishlist for a while, I even tested the demo, it was actually really fun, but I don't really have the time to purchase and play new games for now, bcs I know if I buy it right now the game will just collect dust in my Steam library and I will just forget about it. I prefer to buy it when I will actually have time to get involved into the game.
Batman vibes intensify. 15:44 That revolver looks like a Mateba/Chiappa type of jobber. Anachronistic for the time period, but maybe that's what they're going for. Like, what if weapons and tech from the '80s onward was in the 1940s? 17:18 Manhunt in first-person. 17:44 As a former forklift operator, I can't help noticing how often forklifts show up in video games. 20:25 .357 Magnum, which was developed in the 1930s to address the shortcomings of .38 Special, would have still been kinda new at this time. The first revolver speedloaders date back to 1879, so speedloaders as a general concept aren't really anachronistic in a 1940s setting.
I haven't gushed over a game as much as I have been with Fallen Aces. It is damn near immaculate. It's so creative, artistically and stylistically flawless. And it being in the theme of 1940s? I am signed all the way in. I've spent hours figuring out so many ways to handle groups of enemies at the docks *alone.* It doesn't get boring. Thank you for helping to signal boost this so it gets more traction. All this for AUD $14.50?? I feel I'm robbing Trey Powell & Jason Bond.
Multiplayer games are what's hot right now. Doesn't really matter the genre. Anything that can be streamed with friends to get views is going to get played.
The game was too easy on the hardest difficulty, has 4 hours of content and is a very lacking immersive with flawed combat. Love the style, level design, music and story but not something ill be playing much. I recommend new blood’s other immersive sim ‘gloomwod’ instead.
Aren't publishers supposed to like, idk, advertise their games or something? It's no wonder all of these games fail so quickly. I see a revolution coming akin to the music production industry where publishing labels are finally determined to be as useless as they seem to be recently.
I remember AGES ago playing a game with this exact artstyle that I found off a demo disk, I wish I could remember its name, but I really find this type of games pretty cool.
Personally, Im not a fan of the setting or theme. I prefer GWOT/modern military themed games. To me, the noir theme is dull. (I CAN SEE YOU, ROCKSTAR SHILL THATS IN EVERY COMMENT SECTION; I wont play stupid LA Noire; for the millionth time!)
I played it day one 14th june, finish it in about 3 hours and now i waiting for full release ;) so many people who reviewed already they finished what they can and now waiting, maybe that's why so low player count
Because it's an immersive sim and people don't know how to play immersive sims. They are too used to games like cod where the game tells them EVERYTHING and it's very linear. These games will never sell as much as they should, which sucks, because that makes them not release very often. Even if they are some of the best games of all time. For me, Deus ex mankind divided, prey, and now this one are in my top 10 games of all time, with Deus ex mankind divided probably being number 1 and prey being number 2.
I can answer the question fast: Im playing Baldurs Gate 3. Im not buying unfinished titles. I prefere buying games on GOG over steam (if release on steam, it has to have a huge price drop. Sorry Nier AUtomata, but you are way overpriced. Even reduced).
On exactly the day that this video came out, I finished what was available in Fallen Aces. The game is really good, but the idea of asking why an LGS game has no players is almost like some kind of fishing for compliments thing. LGS type games are never that popular, it's like pure art films. People used to complain how Thief II and System Shock 2 weren't as popular as Playstation games in their day as well.
I follow New Blood pretty closely. I knew it was launching since I'm in their discord. I'm excited it out! They put out a lot of games I like and have even bought. I have like 80 - 90% of their games. :)
One other thing is that there are just too many games coming out these days. You can't play them all. Nowadays we have issues like "backlogs" and "unplayed". I am an older gamer I grew up with the Nintendo and Sega 8 bit/16bit and back then we did not have this bombardment of titles coming out. The game industry has grown exponentially and its hard to break through.
The problem is I've paid thousands of quid for a higher end gaming PC and the only games that don't seem like mass churned out 'aaa' shovelware are ones I could run on and old phone. Limited time to play and want to make use of my PC. Thankfully Stalker 2 isn't that far off now. These devs nail the gameplay often but because they are smaller can't afford to be making next gen looking games, I wish they'd get together more, pool resources and show the likes of ubisoft how it should be done.
Dis game is like da dame down at the bah. Legs dat don't quit. Something-something scram, toots. This is pretty incredible. Especially considering only 2 devs. The voice acting is AAA.
12.99 is a weird price. You would have to add 10$ to your wallet and then 5$ to your wallet meaning it really costs 15$. It needs to be 9.99$. That price is just visually more appealing.
I'd love to play it, but I don't really want to start it when it's not done and then have to wait to progress. Maybe I'll buy it to support the devs, but I like to play narrative games all the way through.
A lot of people run for the hills when they see that blue badge of early access. They make promises they'll check it out when it hits 1.0, buy it at 50% off, never play it, then wonder why there are no good modern games while spending $70 on whatever warmed over garbage the big studios release.
It's because games like this usually don't get a lot of marketing, making it difficult for most people to even get a chance to see it. The FPS game market is drowning in Call of Duty's bullshit right now.
I will buy it later. So much on my plate right now.... Also: people have less money for gaming these days. That's why many games and movies will fail even if they might be great.
They just 100% neglected marketing their product. Ive seen it hundreds of times in my industry.. small companies or solo operators come up with amazing products but just dont know how to get it out there to the people who should see it.

The 'Immersive Sim Curse' strikes again! :( I fucks love this game but if look back at other Imm Sims they had issue with sales too
I'm going to be blunt here, not everyone will like this game. No offense.
*Looks similar to the XIII Game. played it a lot*
Well if you were to ask me... this thing just dropped out of nowhere and because I'm not a fan of the art style.
The reason not a lot of people are playing it its because its niche and not really what majority of people are looking for in a fps. There.
no it's mainly marketing. tons of these games fall off hard because nobody ever learns they exist.
Thank you for covering games like this BigFry. Indies are it these days.
What's kinda funny is that new blood has been showing this game off for sometime. And it was even in one of the summer of games showcase. I think it just got overlooked by all the other indie games releasing. Itll probably end up blowing up on steam like ultrakill did later down the line.
Art style is one of the few art styles that guarantees i wont touch the game, probably not alone in that boat.
💯
Yeah same. I respect the effort but I genuinely find it unappealing to look at. Not a fan of the animations either
Because it looks 35 years old 🤷♂️
First! I guess the marketing isn't quite there.
ive beaten it three times i love it and hope more people play it
Some people are still thinking this game is never going to release. Where are they going to get the news?
TH-cam doesn't run game ads from anyone but giant companies. There is no E3 anymore.
I would buy it but the dlc for elden ring is dropping soon
Bro, I just released my video on this yesterday! I'm loving it! The voice acting is perfect, the tone is spot-on, the stealth system works, the immersive sim elements are rad. My only complaint is that the narrative is basically just The Watchmen.
Your complaint is still a positive so that's nice
Reminds me of XIII
it looks ok but honestly shadows of doubt has more to do
I love playing indie games, just never hear about them unless they already get popular.
I never even knew this game existed... like, this has completely gone under my radar or whatever you say.
This looks fuckin' amazing, and i'm definitely gonna buy it before the current sale ends!
I think one of the biggest reason might be the whole early access thing. I am definitely going to get this game as soon as it's in 1.0.
You prolly waste 10$ on bs fast food. Buy this game that’s gonna last more than 5 minutes eating fast food
be prepared to wait like 10 years lol
@@linklickz So be it. My backlog is in the triple digits.
@@kevinmizhquiri5865 But I like fast food.
:( Besides, as amazing as games can be, they are not gonna keep me alive. Food does, fast or otherwise.
Same for me, if I play through episode 1 now i know I will never go back to play the rest, just better to do it all on one go, i dont mind waiting.
Why is it surprising that no one is playing it? I never even heard of it until this video. I surf steam once every few months but never heard of it. The art style is cool tho. One game I enjoyed playing back in the PS2 days was XIII and it had the comic book style
Looks cool wish it had multiplayer
Sure they are art when the video game is actually original content and original idea perhaps even. But the problem in gaming industry these days is that people smack place holder assets together and has just enough coding skill to make it work. Games never go forward, they never get finished, they never get original looking because of the fact that they just use those damn assets. I dont care about using assets as place holders for own content, but if you play to build a whole game on assets? fuck off. And people keep supporting these games and wonder why gaming industry has gone to shit.
P.S
Even this game is using obviously the same animations and what not but at least its using own creation of it and not just straight up what he got from asset pile.
Also check out Shadows of Doubt! It's the same style, but in a different way, super fun
I feel I'm robbing
Trey Powell & Jason Bond.
Multiplayer games are what's hot right now. Doesn't really matter the genre. Anything that can be streamed with friends to get views is going to get played.
For me its because its not fully out
The game was too easy on the hardest difficulty, has 4 hours of content and is a very lacking immersive with flawed combat. Love the style, level design, music and story but not something ill be playing much. I recommend new blood’s other immersive sim ‘gloomwod’ instead.
I dont play this stuff, but I bought it to support them.
I don't feel boomer shooters get enough love
I don't know why but this game gives me major Venture Bros vibes.
I can answer the question fast:
Im playing Baldurs Gate 3.
Not that many promotion campaign, so this video will help hopefully
Bigfry, I am playing Crime Boss:Rockay city now. It's better than one year ago.
The FPS game market is drowning in Call of Duty's bullshit right now.
as per what you said at the beggining.. released OUT OF NOWHERE. there goes the answer to the title
as much as people say graphics arnt everything, lets be honest... its cuz its not a "realistic tactical FPS is FREE?" kind of video game
I will buy it later. So much on my plate right now.... Also: people have less money for gaming these days. That's why many games and movies will fail even if they might be great.
They just 100% neglected marketing their product. Ive seen it hundreds of times in my industry.. small companies or solo operators come up with amazing products but just dont know how to get it out there to the people who should see it.
marketing I guess. If I didn't know about Dusk before, I would have probably never heard about this game
A noir XIII? Sold me
