What family of T'ai Chi is this sword form from? There a few things I found a bit un T'ai Chi: why all the flash and bling? T'ai Chi maintains a quality of humbleness and modesty. Please don't ever touch your blade with your fingers nor let the sword edge brush against you or your clothes: you are supposed to be representing a true, extremely sharp sword, not a toy. Finally, the transition from slow to fast and back to slow should be like the flowing water course down a brook: sometimes slow, sometimes fast, always smooth.
@@GumdropLuvDragon1935 None, it's something they made up/attempted to copy with no grasp of the actual fundamentals or style. I realize i'll come across as brash or rude but when you've had opportunity to train with Yang Dezhan and others at national competition in the capital - charlatans are beyond insulting. Even Dr Jwing-Ming laughed at this one.
@ErraticFaith My teachers were not famous and they liked it that way. Whether famous or secluded and private, a real T'ai Chi teacher leaves an indelible mark upon his or her students. No matter the family of T'ai Chi, all adhere to the same principles and these were all lacking in the video. Glad you felt the same way. You are very fortunate to have studied the true art under a genuine, traditional teacher.
Hm... like Peter I didn't have ''famous'' teachers either. Don't live in PRC like above either! But you're both right here. In Japan you get this sort of...awkward lol.. grimace from people when you execute forms like this and I did show a few people. Weirdly though, isn't this person supposed to be some sort of teacher? I thought the other video of theirs had considerably more views as well and people were implying that. No surprises why compared to this 'performance' anyway. I can only imagine she's not qualified at all or they don't really use the weapon much in whatever she does. There's an instructor from the US who would facepalm endlessly at it, as he is a traditional Jianfa guy. If people don't know what they are doing they should stop as this video is collecting a lot of hits from people who don't know better and we don't need another MMA style incident in this community.
Phenomenal! Great to see Wumin again. Her movements are so fluid and powerful, with focus and purpose in every step. It is a joy to watch such an advanced and skilled practitioner. Her conspiratorial smile at the very start, when she first drew her sword was a playful, fierce touch. Great to see another dimension of her personality. The video capture was artfully done, and the music flowed with Wumin's movements, matching the more dynamic thrusts and blocks perfectly! The setting, of course, was beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with the World!
