  • Coconut oil has attracted a lot of attention from people for the numerous benefits it can provide to your health. In This Video Dr Oz Show the benefits of coconut oil.
    There are numerous reasons why we can say that coconut oil is good, but probably the main reason you take it are medium chain triglycerides (or medium-chain fatty acids), especially the lauric acid.

    Everyone seems to be pushing coconut and its' benefits. I've used coconut oil, from a child, and I'm a youthful 72. Not saying that it is the main contributer, but it helps. My parents owned coconut and many tropical fruit trees, plus we lived on the edge of the ocean. Nature is the largest cure or prevention for many health maladies.

    I love coconut oil, I use it from my head to toes. I've used it replace a lot of my beauty care products, lip balm, hair oil, makeup remover, skin moisturizer, metabolism enhancer, pre poo and Massage oil. I cook with the oil, drink the water, use the milk in cereal and eat the jelly, yum!

      Coconut oil is horrible for your its pure saturated fat you might as well eat lard.

    • @islandgirlruby2750
      @islandgirlruby2750 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It's good for you and plant based!

    • @6idangle
      @6idangle 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes but those carbon chains are fully saturated unlike your Olive oils which are unsaturated. The healthy required fats are those unsaturated fats and regardless you are wrong coconut oil may be plant based but your body treats it like any other animal fat structurally. It is just as likely to cause heart disease and other issues.

    • @6idangle
      @6idangle 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Never claimed that Olive was all good for you I said it had majority unsaturated fats Olive oil has its issues too. And the only difference between medium saturated fats and long chain is their effect on LDL cholesterol. Coconut oil has a slightly better effect on LDL but is still insanely bad for you. Coconut oil has 92% saturated fat which is more pure artery clogging fat than butter, lard, bacon etc. Also you are making a fallacy called the appeal to nature, if nature made it, it must be healthy! this simply isn't true coconut oil is just as bad as any other saturated fat your body processes it the same way. The only difference is the effect on LDL cholesterol. And pure fatty milk is horrible for you it is good for babies who need a lot of fat but not for 30 year olds who are overweight. You are making a lot of ridiculous claims about saturated fats that are flatly unscientific we know saturated fats are bad for you and coconut oil is pure saturated fat. Also your claim that heart disease is primarily caused by inflammation and bacteria is pure bullshit and runs contrary to thousands of studies that say the exact opposite.

      Tyler Potts There are several differences between medium and long chained. Long chain fats are absorbed into the lymphatic system whereas medium chain fats are not.
      Medium chain fat have also been linked to weight loss.

      I don't claim to know it all, but parts of what you said seem to be controversial/debatable. Also, one should be careful of being overconfident and using strong adjectives like ridiculous in a debate, especially in a subject like nutrition. Put forth your arguments and leave it to the readers to judge.
      Looking forward to reading your reply ☺️

    Living in Florida, and having a dad who does landscaping, he literally brings me a truck load of coconuts at least once a month, from someone who wanted their palms taken care off and didn't want the coconuts. I'll never understand why you'd get coconut palms yet literally throw all the coconuts out to the trash or have them hauled away. They just want them thrown out. I just made yet another batch of coconut oil, and it's the best smelling yet. You'd be amazed by all the uses. Hell, I just learned it apparently really good for heartburn!

    it's amazing how in America everything they laughed at us for using ,is now a key to there survival. in Africa I remember the missionaries would come and throw away our homemade oils and replace it with lotions and our chewing miswak sticks with Tooth paste and now in America coconut is sold as a medical treatment and healthy eating and miswak sticks are being sold everywhere as well . now the missionaries are coming and collecting details and information . coconut oil has been used in Africa for centuries and Asia , and Caribbeans. well if u can't beat us join us !!

    I can tell you that the only two things I eat that are suspect in possibly rasing LDL cholesterol is eggs, and coconut oil. I'm learning that dietary cholesterol does not raise LDL. Saturated fat is what raises LDL. Coconut oil is almost all saturated. Now I bought into the coconut is in an okay/healthy form of saturated fat and started eating bunches of it. My most recent yearly checkup showed my levels of LDL were up quite a bit.

    This is what I know, the saturated fat in extra virgin coconut oil non-refine non GMO organic is ( medium-chain triglycerides) doesn't require bile to break down and read the following:
    This is real life real story ;
    I had Gallstones and have 2 friends had gallstones, they took (1 tbsp coconut oil mixed with 8 oz fresh green Apple juice) every morning before any food, their stones gone after 2 month I started May 25th 2020 hopefully mine are gone too in 2 month too, 2 days later, light urine, brown stool , constipation gone, bloated stomach gone, June 14th, no attack since May 25th, every now and then I feel movement in my gallbladder like something move in slow motion could be gas from bowel but no pain, hope it was contraction from gallbladder pushing the stones out. July 21st I got another ultrasound, all gallstones gone. there are few polyps measure up to 2 mm, doctor sent me the report also stated no more follow up needed:)
    ps* I also took 4 to 6 oz of celery juice to help enlarge the bile duck before the Coconut oil mix.. zero attack since taking this remedy and stones gone in 2 months. use my remedy I can provide you my ultrasound reports before and after used of coconut oil if you have doubt. I'm eating bacon, shrimp, super spicy Korean food, they don't do crap to my gallbladder

    Coconut oil helps hair growth on your head.
    So if I put it on my body, over time will it cause my body hair to grow?
    Because I don't want a hair body, but I really want to use it on my body.
    Please help :)

      No it won't grow hair on your body, it doesn't work like that. Use it, you'll be fine.

    Interesting how the next site is from the "Mayo clinic" regarding how bad coconut oil is for your heart! Even worse than lard and butter. Hmmm.... shouldn't Dr Oz know this? Also, in agreement with the comments re his grabbing women's hands, invading personal space. He does this all the time on his show! Hands off Dr Oz!

    The demonstrations that use visual props are so hokey. Yes, people need illustrations to remember something but this kind of showmanship is like watching a magic show at the carnival.

    Coconut oil and Olive oil make me feel like I weigh 500 pounds and have heart problems. I get chest pain, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue and light headedness from taking this stuff at just a tablespoon per day. It really messes me up. Definitely not healthy to me.
