Hello RP, could you please make a video about how to train for strength when we have a hard physical job ? I noticed over the years that it tends to "slow" the body. Maybe something else about "how to not become slow" . Cheers love your videos

I follow you to get in shape. Never want tl be a bodybuilder. But im thinking ill keep following all this stuff as its working, then do my last cut in a couple years and learn maintenence
Critique Gordon Ryan’s weight training next. It would be an interesting video to see considering your background in both BJJ and exercise science - how well do his workouts carry over to skill/athleticism on the mat?
Riddle me this... 7:27 if forced reps are a bad idea, then why would partials 10:51 be any different? For the same reasons that Mike explained about tracking progression and fatigue.
He said he liked the partials because they were partials in the bottom stretched position which is the area that produces the most growth. As far as tracking yes it’s the same problem.
I do physical queuing for myself on some exercises like single arm triceps extensions to help focus on the isometiric hold muscles that stabilize the movement. IE I hold my lat so that I can better focus on the stretch of the bicep and not allow my scapula to float and take emphasis off the the triceps. I agree that touching the contracting muscle does very little most of the time unless someone is new to an exercise and is struggling to connect with the movement.
Yo Dr Mike ! I broke my wrist recently and can’t train upper body for the time being and want to know what’s the best way to maintain my muscle in my upper body during this period ? If you and that smooth head of your could make a video on that, that would be splendid 😊
buy some cuffs that you can place around your forearm and you can still do a bunch of upper body exercises. Basically takes the wrists and hands out of it
You know those wraps/straps that people put on their ankle for cable kick backs? you could try and strap those just above your elbow and attach them to cable machines and such, which allows for doing a variety of pull and push exercises on those without putting strain on your wrist. obviously, the load won't be as heavy and the stimulation for biceps and triceps is quite low but it's still an alternative.
8:00 I think you would track these forces similarly to the way you do for myo reps, look at the first set few sets to see your progression, and then just know that last set had some extra forced reps included in it.

Love the videos, thanks Doc! Curious your feelings on the contraction being better on a chest fly movement for development of the inner chest? Maybe that’s a wives’ tale. Keep up the good work. Thanks again!
On 13:32 you can see that the bar of the machine won't go any further down. So after all it doesn't matter that his coach put his arm on his chest. The stretch will be the same
Added one arm cable rows to my back training with a super crazy stretch at the bottom and it has been AMAZING. I get crazy sore throughout my back and it is crazy to find the very bottom of your lat insertion and be able to target nearly the entire back. I am going to be doing more single arm back exercises for sure.
I like Dr. Mike's recommendations, but Hany Rambod has 24 Mr. Olympia championship wins as a trainer. Unless Dr. Mike can produce that many championships, I think I will keep using Hany's training techniques. It's kinda like a physics major teaching Michael Jordan how to play basketball. 😮
