That’s Drake mindset towards rappers that use to be hot fell off and now are exploring other careers. He specifically made fun of rappers that was hot at one point in time and fell off. Now they’re doing podcast or doing interviews he considers you a failed rapper.

They might not be for everyone, but they don't have to be. Different tunes for different moods. Takes me back to the G-Unit, Dipset and Game days when I was in high school. Gucci Mane, Curren$y and Willie The Kid might've been the only ones keeping that up not too long ago. I'll add Flee Lord and Elcamino to that as well, though both have slowed down a tad.

I think Drake places a lot of importance on being the hottest/most lit rapper in the game, and he also knows that title is largely decided by the youth. And that's why Drake's so focused on trying to appeal to a younger audience rather than catering to his core audience that has grown older and matured. It's helped to prolong his run, but the quality of his music has suffered as a result. Back when XXXTENTACION was alive, despite the beef, I imagined a scenario where Drake passes the torch to XXX, like Hov did for Wayne. But now that artist like Juice Wrld and XXX are no longer here, there's been a bunch of lackluster hip-hop draft years. Currently no upcoming rapper is showing the potential of being capable of either receiving or snatching the torch from Drake.

I know someone about 67 yo who has a son, who dresses like us, play videogames , listens to current music and lives happily without being judged by a couple of bitter people.
He is the father of my best friend. When we reach that age, i hope no one complains about the criticism you all make. 🤔

That 67 year old is an outlier. Not the norm. IN GENERAL, most people WILL NOT be the same person in their 40s, 50s and so on as they were in their 20s. And it's really not a conscious change. It just is. Family, responsibilities and general life challenges happen to us all. So, not judging you or the 67 year old -- BUT, know that you are not the first 23 year old to think about things the way that you do now. Truth is, in all likelihood, you'll change too. I was 23 once. But that was 20 years ago. And guess what? Life changes, and with it my interests, priorities, etc. have too. And that's not a bad thing. It's totally normal. And though this won't the case for all --- it will be for most. It's just the way it is.

The father of your best friend is a father and stable adult individual. All parts of his life are integrated; he’s into what the kids are into and he’s still a dad.

I grew up listening to 90's hip hop & Rnb, both mainstream and underground. I think it is just the current state of Hip Hop not really Drake to be honest. For all the dogs for me was more of an R&B album and it had the smoothest R&B cuts I've heard in a while. I realized why people were negative towards it because R&B fell out of the mainstream, and no one realized. Growing up, my generation had artists like Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Keith Sweat, Usher, Ne-Yo, Mario, Chris Brown, Keyshia Cole, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, etc.
As for Drake, I'm honestly just happy he keeps dropping music, literally dropped a Dance, Rap, and Rnb album in like a year. He doesn't have to, but he still does. He learned from Lil Wayne and, you know, Mixtape Weezy. The problem is Mainstream hip-hop is being criticized by underground hip-hop metrics these days, and rappers either delay or don't release their music. People can't drop fun albums or experiment more because mixtapes have kind of died, which made many of these rappers lose their creative playground.
As for Drake's inspiration level, I think it's super tough when you compare the artists around him when he dropped "Take Care," "Nothing Was the Same," and "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" to the artists around him now. Even just looking at the other albums that dropped at that time, the difference in quality is shocking. Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are the only artists that could push Drake, but their output is not similar to Drake. Even their collaborations with other artists are very limited. However, J. Cole has been on a tear this year and is refreshing, but I think for Kendrick, I read that he has only done two features in the past five years, one with Sir and one with Beyoncé. Right now, it feels like Drake's only competition in the mainstream is Old Drake lol.

Drake is acting his age and all the criticism comes down to people not understanding. You do not have to act a certain way at a certain age. That type of thinking is very immature and closed-minded. When you grow up you learn by making mistakes and pass it on to the youngins. He is also taking updated sounds to stay relevant. ALOT of rappers do not do this and end up falling off. Drake saw this and did not want to go down that route.I think you had some excellent points in this video but some of the points you made were not consistent and showed a lack of being close minded.

agreed, it's just that he's still talking about relationships, money, and whatever other thing in such an immature tone to the point where he sounds like he learned NOTHING from the past 20 years of his life.
also, keep in mind that most rappers don't really have that 'touch' to make them stay relevant with today's charts. Yes, a lot of rappers try to stay relevant with today's sound but the thing about Drake is that he naturally knows what makes people listen more, gain entertainment, and get played in more diverse places. But if you were to take that away from him, he's biting styles, lingo, and flows left and right (KMT for example).

@@joshpepper902relationships and money are universal topics. Maturity raps, the kids of any generation will never fuck with. Drake playing the long pop game and its working 😂

I like your video but it is based on the idea that being youthful in your style and attitude while not being as young as your "prime" is not right. And his style now is much better in my opinion, wtf is wrong with space boots i love em and i'm 25 lol. Besides that, he keeps learning from the youth culture instead of being the typical old ass douchebag that thinks his era was the best and bla bla bla

On “No Lie” he says it was only once… which might be worse, because one time doesn’t warrant all the stuff he kept doing. He could treat it like a W the way his fans think H6 being the last beef song is somehow a W. But nooooooo

@SubNada this dude is wondering why Drakes sound changes so much and it's because of ghostwriters...but they even entertaining that being the reason. When he was around Travis his music was stadium music, when he was around the weeknd he was singing, when he was around Party next door he did his Jafakin thing. That's my point.

Back in the day Artists could at least write their own disses.
But hey, why do it when we can outsource it from a third party?
It's more profitable to have 2 specialized workers than a single, complete, artist.
