    You did a great job!! I made one yesterday using two sheets of plexiglass and the top hinges kept popping off so I ended up covering them with decorative duct tape. It works and it only cost 8 dollars. Gotta love diy!!

      Awesome and thanks! I am working on a couple others with super inexpensive items. I will be gifting some to friends. All so far are under $10!

    Thanks for sharing your video. I especially like the idea of the little handle on the side to help pick up the top easily. TFS!

    You did a great job. Necessity is the mother of invention. I refuse to purchase a Misti because of the cost. Tim Holtz' product is in the midst of litigation but this is as good as those two! Thanks for sharing.

      So glad you liked it! It is pretty cool what we can come up with if we just start... :)

    Love your video. Thanks so much for sharing. I watched another DIY on this tool. The lady used magnetic paint on the bottom glass. I like yours using things around the house. Still on another video someone used a magnetic sheet that can be cut to size. She said she got from the $Tree. I couldn't find any at my $Tree. Gonna put all these great ideas together & hopefully make me one.

      So glad you liked it! Good luck and just get creative! There are things that I would do different if I made it again but it works great, especially since I got the Bar style Neodymium magnets!

    This is a brilliant idea, I have never seen a misti before my friend has a stamp positioner that is on 4 pieces of sponge 1 in each corner but you cant stamp again in the same place because it moves it is not like your stamper so I will get my hubbie to make one for me too thanks for your ideas from across the pond, I am in England so many thanks Debbie xx

      You are so welcome! There are so many ways to come up with something fairly easily. Mine has worked for me but I must say the new one from Tim Holtz may be calling my name. Especially if I can use a coupon. It is a much more reasonable price point for me and I like the features.

    Perfect! I'm excited to make my own today because I can't afford the Misti tool.

    I am making my own stamp pad using magnetic dry erase board 14" x 14" and a clear acrylic gridded sheet from the sewing department by Fiskars. So far going easily and not that expensive getting it all at Walmart. Not finished putting it together yet, but will give me a 12" x 12" working surface and the magnetic property also. Please excuse my spelling errors !

    Could you have used a magnetic sheet in place of the thin foam and then only needed a small metal strip in place of a magnet to hold the cardstock in place while stamping on it?

      Ohhh idea!!!! I have some too.... Ill try it thanks!!!

      Also, laminate a piece of grid paper to put in there to help line things up. With it being laminated, if you get ink on it, you can just wipe it off. 😊

    On the side that you ink up, I cut an extra thick piece of foam and place it underneath when I ink. Made a huge difference for me.

      I have done that too since there is a little bit of "flex" in the plexiglass. The strip of wood on top of the hinges helps so much with stress in the glue and hinges.

    Thanks for sharing. I was wondering can I use glass?

    • @back2basicsmomplj857
      @back2basicsmomplj857  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not, you press down fairly hard and it could snap. Anything acrylic would be better... I have heard of people using cheap clear clipboards or acrylic picture frames.
      Overall I just do not feel a sheet of glass is safe to have floating around my craft space.

      Ok you have a point. I've watched some videos they people where using a picture frame from Ikea. Thanks.

    • @back2basicsmomplj857
      @back2basicsmomplj857  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just my opinion, I am not an expert by any means... you would have to ask them if it is glass or acrylic. Many inexpensive frames use Acrylic.

      Hi just read your comment bout using a frame from ikea to make a MISTI. I too saw a youtube clip showing how to use an ikea frame. I just wanted to let you know that the HEMMINGSBRO frame I saw used has a very thin piece of plastic and not glass.

      I made this 4ish years ago, it was one of my first. There are a ton of videos out there on how to make one. I did my best to show my ideas at the time.
