Eva was definitely the idol of my youth. She was married to her fifth and final husband, aerospace executive Frank Gard Jameson, when she appeared on the show.
@@AllRequired: Oh yes! Definitely! Eva was never kicked out of a hotel for not paying the bill, kicked off an airliner, walked off the stage during a performance, and slapped a cop like Zsa Zsa did.
Does anyone recall a black woman holding a whip (a dominatrix -- but 70s TV friendly?) reciting a comical monologue, punctuated with "Get in the bed, Ben!"? Ring any bells?
@kevinfitzmaurice4072 I was confused because at the end, we see Firestone Program Syndication and no mention of NBC in the credits. But you are correct, because the nighttime show awarded 716.32. Maybe this episode was edited and placed in the post-NBC syndication package?
Chuck Barris had created several huge game shows by this time. Game shows that didn't cost that much. Serious talent shows had been done over and over by this time so this was a comedic reaction to those. It was so successful, I believe they had a daily live daytime show as well as a pre-recorded weekly evening show.
"The Gong Show" was a bona fide guilty pleasure!
It was crazy and silly, but good stuff.
I had a mad crush on Chuck.. ..lol...... I felt kind of sorry for anyone "not getting it".
Loved the absurd acts like the second, folks who had an incredible voice and chose to be silly. Thank you for posting these.
Probably took more talent to pull this off than doing it straight up
The golden age of game shows
Talk of the good old days , these were the good old days !!!
Tap dancer was awsome !!!😊
Chuck barris a genius and so fun to watch
Peter Lawford. Haven't thought of him in years.
my school does a gong show for homecoming, people will go up and do things like sing, dance etc. and the sometimes the hole crowd yells GONG
But not the whole audience.
The original America's Got Talent
Box on head girl was outstanding. I'de pay to see that.

Episode aired during the spring of 1977.

Gong Show was the TIT'S!!
Eva Gabor was beautiful.
And she wasn't the mess that her sister was.

@@Lisa-di1wiand never appeared on Green Acres like Eva.
No sane panelist was ever going to gong that last act.
Who was her father? There was no intro but he looked familiar.
Ah caint get dis box off mah hayed
Been looking for this skit for ages!
This act really took years to refine. Heavens to Mergatroyd, it's not like it was slapped together in five minutes.
Does anyone recall a black woman holding a whip (a dominatrix -- but 70s TV friendly?) reciting a comical monologue, punctuated with "Get in the bed, Ben!"? Ring any bells?
Amy should not get GONGED
Cute girl
GREAT tap dance
Jp Morgan ❤
Barris: "JUICY... JAYE,...P... MORGOOONE!!!"
(she flashes) 🧚
I think the first act should have won.
They are all dead.
Sometimes, Della Barris would introduce Chuck.
3:02-3:05 The Steppin Stones (!!)
Interesting that although this is a nighttime syndicated episode that NBC was mentioned during the audition plug.
This was from the NBC daytime show. On the syndicated version, the Johnny Jacobs-voiced audition plug came after the first commercial break.

Should not have gonged Mistress Mary, that was fun
Amy Fisher...😅😅😅😅😅
Thinking Outside of the Box ?
🎉
"Amy Fisher from New York" should be the point at which you gong her.
But, the other "Amy Fisher" was not a nurse...lol...
I never understood how this got picked up.

Because this is better than 90% of the crap they put out today!!
You're a Vulcan, right?
Lawford looks toas ted .
The male piano player could have been a super star if he were more handsome.
It's sad but it's teue
They picked the right winner.
That cheesy lounge act? No way.
Debby Johnson should have won
