I was on the Gong Show , and The $1.98 Beauty Show where my song was censored, so Chuck had them write in a bit to " cover " it .Barris hired me again & got me my AFTRA & SAG cards, he was great to me and so kind & encouraging.
I've always said that the Got Talent premise took the best part of Ed McMahon's "Star Search" (the continuing auditions) and melded it with the best parts of "The Gong Show" (small panel of celebrity judges and the gong), and added a few tweaks over the years.
Because the left, MSM, the woke mob, DEI authorities, LGBTQ+ community, BLM, antifa, the view woman, and other foolish women throughout America, would be offended and demand everyone involved be lined up against a wall to see how the small amounts of the element of lead, moving at high speed, reacted to them.
The irony of that is that Barris was literally a CIA assassin. He used the dating game as a cover to go to strange foreign countries and kill people. True story.

His name was Chuck so his cover wasn’t exactly covering much. The things he did around the world, then jet lagged does this show right after. This guy is a legend and a man with many talents.

Pictionary, anyone can play that in their living room. The Gong Show was unique. Sometimes folks went on that show KNOWING they'd get gonged! But hey, they were on TV, right?
This show is groundbreaking. This led the way for things like star search. America's got talent and under sounds like that. This show was truly groundbreaking, think about it.
I was there when JP Morgan flashed the audience durring the Gene Gene the Dancing maching. She slowly unbuttoned each button and flaskes her A cups and re buttoned. Not according to Chuck Barris, the host and executive producer. It was still pretty crazy though. This was the same guy who produced both The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game, along with a few other shows with varying degrees of success. It was kind of risqué for daytime TV at the time.

Originally on Radio, there was "The Major Bowes Amateur Hour" in the 1930's and 40's, Losers were rung off with something like a boxing ring bell Then the Gong Show. Now we have The Voice, and AGT. Rip made me laugh everytime he popped up on a show, and in the Jackass movie just before he passed, that was awesome of Knoxville to put him in the movie and turn another generation on to that silly guy
Boo on JP Morgan giving 9 points to the 3 lady dancers. They were good. Synchronizing with other dancers is hard and they did great. Plus I liked the boogy woogy music.
One of those shows where every aspect of it was really bad, but when combined together it was a priceless experience that people LOVED. Whoever thought this show up was either a genius or suicidal.
