I live in St Thomas and can vouch for the Cruzan Single Barrel Rum. Have you tried the Brugal Doble Reserva, you can only get it in dominican republic, it is amazing and drinks like a $75 bottle of zacappa for less than $15! And they just came out with Triple Reserva for a few dollars more!
I keep hearing people sing Mount Gay’s praises. I’ve compared it side by side with Bacardi, and I prefer the Bacardi! It’s not bad, but it’s nothing special.

I love the aroma and flavor of rum, but the buzz I get from rum is far less enjoyable than the buzz I get from whiskey.
No mention of Panamanian rum, bummer.

I don't think there will ever come a day where I say I like Mount Gay rum.
The best rum for the money is Plantation
Maybe the aged stuff but not the white... all of those are over $30.
