    Funny to think that we "detail" our cars with love and care and still miss so much.

      Yer but we still rush and still hate bending down constantly as you get older. I used to do a better job as a young lad. I suck now.

    Hi John! I actually found this rather useful considering that my Bmw X2 M35i does 15,000+ miles per year! Some areas that I usually miss is the exhaust pipes, lower grille, boot shut, around my number plate (as it is 4D) and usually behind the wheel spokes, which I should really remember as the forged wheels are extremely expensive to repair and brake dust particles have been fused to the finish, which I can't remove with iron remover, tar remover and a clay bar! 😂😂

  • @cebasmb8250
    @cebasmb8250 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great video John, I always take my pressure washer nozzle out just to rinse the back part over the wheels, because sand stay on that little lip part.... sometimes the lower water force wash out area that the pressure washer doesn't get

    Some great tips here! Agree on those arches! See so many cars in our cold climate that start rusting in those areas. The front of the window and hitting all the downward facing surfaces is a great point.

  • @RandomlySet
    @RandomlySet ปีที่แล้ว

    The window runner behind the mirror... Yup, I sorted mine the other week...
    Under the plate, never, I always get that and even pop the boot when I clean the rear so I can do that properly and also the boot shuts

    I do a maintenance wash every week, attention to detail this time of year is geared to weather and time. On a good day it’s hogs hair brush on all these areas, jet wash and blow dry hard to reach areas towel dry, I did buy an under carriage jet wash rig, but that gets done once in the spring.

  • @DC_Cha_Cha_Cha
    @DC_Cha_Cha_Cha ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. I'd definitely always forget the area where the number plate lights etc is, but luckily on the Mazda CX5 the rear camera is there, it's always covered in shit, so I actually do remember to clean it 🤣
    I always miss the front light fog light surround!

    Great review and i personally added a few things to my routine.
    One common area that often gets missed to add is the recess between the windscreen and the roof/pillars. It takes the brunt of head on muck and flies etc. Again and good hogs hair brush when snowfoamed sorts it

    Hi John. Really enjoy the videos.
    I think the returns around the front and rear wheel arches are something I miss often. The painted bits that return around from the front and rear wings that run around the inside of the wheelarches

    Wiper arms are things I've missed on my old Honda, the consequence of this is now the paint is bubbling underneath. Had I paid more attention and used a sealant after cleaning I doubt there would be a problem

    List of car cleaning items, my own list and added Jon's here too. BMW 3 series for me
    Wheel nuts
    Under sills& under rear quarters
    Detail corners of engine bay (use vacuum cleaner with attachment)
    Boot hinges and shuts (remove trim annually)
    Undercarriage (using hose on a brush shaft or proper kit)
    Door hinges (lubricate hinges afterwards)
    Wiper recessess and coating with sealant/etc
    Inside openable window rubbers & felt (clean with plastic/paint scraper wrapped in microfibre)
    Under and inside lip of wheel arches
    Door jambs and shuts
    Underneath and around doors
    Boot lid shuts
    Boot lid interior shut
    Aroundand above rear number plate (remove both annually)
    Around all panel joints
    Door mirrors to door gaps
    Wheel rims
    Front headlights surroundings
    Air splitter ( fly and tar )
    Grill and inside
    Badges - microfibre only
    Front window bottom and drain panel and check drain holes
    Top of windscreens fr and rear - use microfibre as soft paint
    (few things mentioned, such as between the seats and top of dash using a thin microfibre wrapped plastic thing thats not included here as I do these anyway)

    Some of those door and boot jambs I normally use ONR to get in there. I see people use a jet wash to clean, but I know I'll totally balls it up and soak the interior!

    I once did a full valet/detail with a mate, on his car, including decon and clay, or thought I did, and when applying Fusso, found a smear of dirt at the bottom of the rear quarter that we couldn't fathom was missed through all those processes. 😅

    • @amyk9813

      Sorry if I'm being dense by asking this 😅 but would you apply wax after or not because it's a sealant?

    • @MartinMcDonald-rs2yl
      @MartinMcDonald-rs2yl ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amyk9813 if your referring to the Uno advanced then No, the Uno advanced gives the type of durability of a sealant or better, but also gives a waxed look IMO not so much of a warm glow on darker colors but brilliant gloss, with the type of weather we get in UK its hard to look at durability products like Uno Advanced for example, if your car is garaged then wax might be the way to go.

      I'm glad I read the comments before posting just that question. I have popped a nitrile globe over ot before and I've seen people put duck tape over, but I really don't know if there is a necessity to do that. Truth be known, I spritz some APC in there most washes, before i add snow foam, shut the door and let it dwell for as long as it takes me to rinse off the snow foam, god knows if that's good or bad 🙆‍♂️
