Sandrock really didn't get much love, in my opinion. This has definitely turned that around.

@@porkflaps4717 you're misinterpreting what I'm saying. I'm saying that before this kit, there wasn't much that the Sandrock had going for it. This HG is one of the best versions of this Gundam so far. Next time read a bit more carefully. There was absolutely no hate behind my words.

Definitely Epyon!!! I like all the mobile suits but Epyon hasn’t gotten a lot of love.
Heavyarms Custom/EW has already gotten multiple MGs. Would be awesome to see Heavyarms TV version get at least a high quality HG update like this Sandrock, though I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for an RG of it. It would go perfectly with the new Tallgeese TV RG, to recreate the Arctic battle!

Those extra loadout stuff should be a P-Bandai set and not necessarily needing to build a full kit again. Just extra parts. With the Heavyarms Kai parts.

Totally sold me on this, gonna pick one up. Also, I want to chime in and say that I really appreciate the functional articulation that you point out on the legs, keep it up Mecha!
Personally I've always loved the gundams that have the middle forehorn motif. like the justice/ aegis / kimaris vidar and throne ein for example and the sandrock's really looks super good! I love it!

Sandrock always had the most minimalist look of all the five wing mobile suits. And this kit just proves how a minimalist design can be good if its done with effort and dedication. Bandai certainly put a lot into this kit, given its low price point and availability as a normal release, its such a cool thing to have for both experienced builders (nostalgia) and new enthusiasts! Great review!

As far as proportions go, I have always felt that the original Okawara lineart was a bit “thick” and that the animation thinned out the proportions. To me, this HG is true to the animated version... which I am thankful for. In my opinion, the wonky proportions Okawara gave the designs were always “saved” by the animation. Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed designs are especially true of this.

This looks like an awesome kit! I’m not a fan of this design or wing in general but after building the rg Tallgeese and a few Leos, I think I may need to add this and a few mags to my collection.

The old no grade was the gunpla I actually painted. Glad to see this again to build and paint. Only this time I've got 17 years of experience painting and building.
I like to use nippers for the first nip and sharp toenail clippers for the second, it delivers a strong quick snap that leaves no stress marks. I also sometimes use some sandpaper to clean it up.

I'm glad they've gotten around to making an HG for the Sandrock and Wing Gundam. I hope we see Epyon, Deathscythe and the rest as well some time soon.

This Sandrock along with the Heavyarms Custom EW were the first MS i ever knew about cos my brother got their MSIA figures back in the early 2000s.

Thanks for the review. I think Bandai forgot Sandrock's uzi-looking gun. I remembered seeing it in the anime a few times and they usually don't miss details. Like how the HG Wing Zero's shield can extend and i remember seeing it only once in the anime.
I love this particular kit so much i bought 3 i know it sounds weird i bought 2 for me and 1 for my buddy he gave it back to me when he moved and now i have 2 custom painted and one not touched

I have this older version of this and it was a pain painting the yellow parts of the skirt and shield bec it doesnt come with yellow colored plastics. This one is amazing. i love the yellows 😆

Are there any optional kits that can be compatible with Sandrock? Since this one didn't come with a Gun i gave it the Veetwo Gundams cannon and spray gun just to satisfy that. But it got me thinking, what other optional kits can work with Sandrock's odd ports. Keep up the reviews. Thanks

iirc the HGAC kits in the HGUC line are actually done in a slightly different scale to make them fit size-wise with the other HG kits

I managed to by most of the VHS tapes for Wing at a small flea market for $10 about 7 years ago money well spent.
I got into gunpla at the right time.

After the new HGs of Wing and Wing Zero, I'm kind of surprised they went with Sandrock next. You'd think they would have prioritized Tallgeese or Epyon before moving on to the other Gundams. You know, for the sake of starting the HGAC line with that old hero and villain symmetry. Not that I'm complaining, of course. I'm happy to be getting modern HG kits of ANY mobile suits from the 90's, especially Wing or X.
Since we got the RG Tallgeese, Tallgeese II, Wing Gundam, and Epyon. To really complete the sets, we need a RG of, Heavyarm, Sandrock, Shenlong, Deathscythe, Leo, Aeris, Capricorn, Cancer, Taurus, and Proto Wing Zero Gundam.
How did you cut the safety in the vfin
Really hope Bandai goes all out and does all the suits, the grunts as well as gundams. However, the tv version heavyarms did not have the gatling gun as its arm, it was handheld. The only time the gun replaced the arm was when Trowa lent heavyarms to Heero to fight against Zechs at alaska/antarctica
I actually just bought this gunpla! I have been a fan for not even a year and it has made me a changed person! Btw I as well highly recommend this gunpla, and for those who bought it is very small and light.

I was expecting the Tallgeese to be a bit (way) taller. Too bad there is no option parts to make the space variant of Sandrock (Sandrock Kai) like the bean uzi submachine gun, modified thrusters on the shoulder and the modified backpack with additional thrusters (eliminating the cross crusher feature).
But I will still get one to update my Gundam Wing collection when it is available. Compare the old basic 1/144 with the new one.
We need a top action bases list!!! (And which is best for each grade)
