This stuff is AWSOME, I put it in my 2006 Chevy Silverado with the NV4500 , the transmission shifted a little hard into 3rd , 5th, and reverse, after changing the fluid out to this stuff, I noticed almost instant change......shifts smoother and less pressure to take in and out of gears....highly recommended
Matt, I appreciate the speed and clarity of your presentation. I already ordered a full kit with oil about a thousand years ago and will be ordering the rest of what I need to finish the NV4500. Maybe I can finish this century and will comment on this product by the year 4500 HD. Truthfully, I ordered the parts months ago, started disassembly 50 days ago and now to order more parts. Thanks again.

Thank you torque king best nv4500 guy on TH-cam I have mine apart for my 02 Chevy 2500hd couple of questions. So not all the Chevy came with the counter weight over the fifth gear nut ? Also does it share fluid with the t case ?
Hi There! No, not all GM came with the dampener, many just had a spacer. It depends how the truck was ordered... Over time the isolation rubber can deteriorate but usually the dampeners will outlast the vehicle. If it needs to be replaced, they are not available but a spacer can be swapped in.
The only time fluid is shared is when a seal goes bad. There is an input seal in the transfer case. NV4500 oil is 75/85 GL4, and most "newer" transfer cases generally run some form of ATF type oil.
How many quarts do you guys recommend?
I put 4.5, many people say 5 and factory is 4.
My local transmission shop said they use ATF-2 in the NV4500. I am gonna not do that… just ordered the Redline MT-85 👍
At some point recently FCA applied ATF to all their past manual transmissions. However, if it was mine ATF would only be used as a sacrificial "flush" oil. Many transmissions use it, however the NV4500 synchros can be quite finicky with the wrong additive packages. You can never go wrong with MT85!
@@TorqueKingTV the MT-85 has been in for a couple days now. Absolutely an improvement, slides into gear much smoother now. There is still a slight notchiness going into 3rd sometimes, but I can live with that.
@@gabe1254 Great! just remember that every time it scratches a little, bits of powdered metal will be added to the oil. It shouldn't affect anything in the short term but keep an eye on oil condition.
@@TorqueKingTV Ya… I know it’ll need a full going through at some point. I’m going to make a plan for that and a clutch change at some point. As far as I know, everything is original with 270k on it.
