Never crossed by the Chunnel even though I'm a tunneler, took the ferry pre-EU days and fuel was cheaper in UK so tanked up in Dover, got to the other side and French customs dipped the tank on the Transit and said I need to pay duty. Walked into the office and another officers called the one with me. He handed me a piece of paper and went to speak on the phone. A truck driver said the paper was the docks release form, so I was on my toes and out the door, no problems at the gate so I was away, with a nice docket to get a bonus off the boss. I was heading to Sardina to meet Roger Moore and the submarine Lotus. It was in-between digging big hole through the ground.
