Avon Valley Railway "End of Season Gala" 2nd November 2024

Avon Valley's End of Season Gala was a great way to end the Autumn Steam Gala of 2024.
Loco's that were in service were:
Fablok TKh49 0-6-0, No.4015 "Karel" &
Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST, No.7 “Wimblebury”.
Guest Loco to the Gala was GWR 1400 Class “1450” courtesy of the Seven Valley Railway & Auto-coach No.232 courtesy of the Bodmin & Wenford Railway.
During the day, 1450 did auto-trains from Bitton to Oldland Common Halt as well as going up to Avon Riverside at certain time.
Karel & Wimblebury did the normal passenger train & Freight Set. Swapping over at  Oldland Common Halt. Due to Bitton Station not having a run around. The Class 09 “D3668” was helping with the shunting operation at Old-land Common. Given Karel & Wimblebury a chance to switch trains.
Highlight of the Gala for me was seeing 1450 back in service. She had her British Rail Numberplate on her smokebox door. She wasn’t wearing her British Rail Logo but it was nice to see her with an Autocoach. It’s sort of came full circle for me because a decade ago, I saw her with an Auto-coach at the Watercress Line “Autumn Steam Gala”! One of my best shocked that I took of the day was 1450 crossing over the River Avon! It just looked so peaceful & perfect!
Well Done to all the team of volunteers at the Avon Valley for putting on a great gala. A fantastic way to end 50th Anniversary Year of the Avon Valley Railway! Looking forward to seeing what’s coming next!

I was there today and it was a good gala event with 1450 now back in steam, but it was ruined by the fact that trains were running late unfortunately. Excellent video 👍
