Congrats on your Twins & on Akani recently getting married! After his record number of 4th & 5th places in WC/OLY 100m Finals, felt like the whole T&F community let out a huge sigh of relief that 31yr old Akani Simbine at least got his hands on a Global Medal with his OLY 4x1 Silver when him & Zharnel Hughes ran a monster final leg to win Silver & Bronze for SA & GB respectively!
How many people would continue to compete at a World Class Level after experiencing this many disappointments? What he's been through is sad but his dedication to give 100% is amazing. Much respect for this man's character.
💯. I participated in a study on block settings in about 2003. Full sensors and the works. I did at least ten full starts and went under 0.1 at least three times with the rest being no worse than 0.13. I was a "fast starter". I also got DQd in a race with sensored blocks for going under but spent most of my time racing without sensored blocks. As we all know, the rule was based off a random study of a handful of sub elite sprinters. The rule needs to be set at 0.05 or at least 0.08 because it's absolutely certain we can react faster than 0.1 and a lot of work has been done on this over the last 20 years.
I feel bad for Akani Simbine. Unfortunately, I blame the 1996 Olympics 100 meters finals for implementing the 1 false start and you're out rule. Sprinters from those games were purposely false starting in order to mentally mess with their top rivals in the finals. It's so hard to see Simbine false starting from video. I think the reaction times must be implemented for the possibility of the absolute best sprinters to react faster than perceived or agreed upon because top level sprinters continue to push the boundaries on what is agreed to be scientifically impossible possible.
this was how i felt watching Ta Lou compete every olympics and world championship. She had to compete at the same time when the insane Jamaican trio of Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce, Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson Herah were in their prime, she was always one spot a way from the podium but she never quit and always showed up
If you're going to evaluate someone like Simbine, you might just want to look a little more closely at who beat him in the big meets and what their doping status was/is/became. Maybe if we wait another 12 years, he'll eventually get upgraded . . . sadly, like so many others.
I feel bad for Akani he had his best season yet it still wasn't enough to get a medal atleast in the relay he got a medal Btw congrats on your twins on the way
Thank you for shedding light on this amazing sprinter!! I had no idea what he has been through, though I witnessed it all. Wish he could have beaten Kerley. The silver medal must have been sweet!! So well deserved!!
He is so humble and took a photo with him the first time he ran under 10.00. I met his mom one day in Pretoria at Tuks she was watching him run. She was proud.
If a sprinter false started but with a positive reaction time, the punishment shouldn't be an immediate DQ. That should be reserved for someone who actually starts PRIOR TO the starter gun.
Hey TRP! You should do a piece on the situation in Norway regarding Gjert Ingebrigtsen. The athletic body is moving to bar him from everything long before there has been a criminal/civil trial or verdict. It’s already causing a bit of fuzz here. Nordås & Svela are the only ones that stand by him until further notice. Good lads ❤
Gjert is scheduled to face a criminal trial next year. Accused of physical abuse of two of his children, where one is named as Jakob. There other one is believed to be the daughter I…. which is still not 18 yo. The controversy is that the athletic body has refused accreditation for the last few championships despite his success with Nordås, leading to him bailing out of the recent cross country championships. The latest is that they want to bar him from everything, prior to the trial as a «preventive» measure. Highly controversial to say the least. The matter is far more complex , this is just from the top of my head.
How do you research your data? how do you edit your videos? the sheer amount of data and information on your videos is very impressive. how do you get so much data so quickly?
Beautiful story. And best wishes to Remus and Romulus. In a few days we will celebrate the greatest story ever told. But why is such a sad tale the greatest story ever told? It seems that everyone in the tale is a loser. Because in the end we all lose but our hope is restored each time a child is born.
I've always felt bad for Simbine, to be one of the best, but never get on the podium is heart wrenching. I had him getting 3rd in Paris, but alas. He's definitely mentally stronger than most athletes, who would've started doping by now.
Cant believe you can still be penalised for either reacting too fast to the gun.. or correctly predicting the gun without moving before it goes! What a joke!
@@slyarsenal yeah 2nd to Michael Johnson and the WRs. Simbine likes to finish 4th or 5th lol. Tebogo is the main man from Africa, simbine not even close
I am a big believer that you should always run the race in protest of the rule anyway because if one day they decide hey you can react faster than 0.1 then what??? Especially in a situation like this when there is a lot of doubt.
In terms of $$$, it appears he can't. It's about 80$ for a month's supply... Huge profits for all the crucks who promote it, including the shady Huberman.
They need to combat this stupid false start rule. It might have applied in earlier years but now thanks to technology and dietary supplies and whatnot, it means that the sprinters can go faster. So the false start rule needs to be abolished or tweaked. Rubbish rule to be honest.
You know for someone like you to produce such a video like this, without acknowledging the fact that throughout all the years the South African season has always been different from the European, strongly suggesting that his peak performances would have passed already by the time of competing. this is quite poor from you man
The fact that this man is still cranking with the big dogs in the 100 shows his grit and class.
Akani Simbine will not be forgotten. An extraordinary African Sprinter!
Actually he will be easily forgotten until wins something major.

This is even evident with the long and triple jump
Totally. The old rule was slower but better. Then those in charge decided that TV money was better.
if it's -200ms of course you get disqualified, that's normal human error but 0.05 come on

Thank you for making a video on AKANI SIMBINE. I’ve been waiting for one cos I’ve been thinking that he’s one of the most slept on sprinters
That's actually really good that you made video giving the recognition he truly deserves.
The Olympics should add two more medals. A Titanium for fourth and a Copper for fifth. Most Track Meets give five Ribbons.

We still love our Akani no matter what❤

Every sprinter in RSA respects him❤
He`s Incredible to say the least.
Botswana's first global Gold Medal was Amantle Montsho's win in the 400 metres at the Daegu World Champions in 2011
Akani Simbine's story is heartbreaking if the mark of greatness is medals. However, his career is filled with outstanding achievements.
